I've been thinking about Rush, constantly, since 1983. They never toured my country in almost half a century of existence, so I bit the bullet, saved my pennies and flew to North America from Melbourne three times just to see them. That's the kind of dedication and commitment they inspire in their fans....
Lucky you. I live in Spain and they never came to my country because it never showed any interest in them. I eventually got tickets to two shows in Amsterdam and Newcastle and missed them both... What a fool I used to be.
Sorry fellas...I truly wish they would've come your ways. When Rush played in Rio, Geddy said in interview, "we didn't know we had this many fans down here!"

Your enthusiasm is infectious. Rush is the soundtrack to my life, and yes, at 16, I would often pause a first listen and rewind it because did I just hear that?
In 1982, age 15, i included the lyrics to "Entre Nous" (song from Permanant Waves) in a letter. It was to my Mom explaining why I had to break my "grounding" to sneak out to see Rush in concert for the first time. That night after my returning she seemed to have softened with understanding but said sternly, "I called your Dad." With dread I heard my mom tell me: "you're grounded further". I wake up singing a Rush song in my head often, they definitely got a hold of me and I love it because their music always uplifts me. Just incredible, every song...so many great sounds that blend so perfectly together.
This tour and Signals 1982-83, Rush was at their absolute prime. By Grace Under Pressure and Power Windows tour - they had pretty much ditched most of their "classics", and would occasionally mix in a medley of some their older, longer pieces
Love your channel. love Rush. Love your passion for Rush. I have the same passion, as do all true Rush fans. and we are in the millions. You need to do a reaction to the Rush song Mystic Rhythms. But do it to the video. It is iconic. Keep doing what you do...😁
The set list for this tour was AMAZING!! Opened with 2112 and went from there... EVERYBODY had "Moving Pictures" and it was played everywhere, every party.
I have heared they are a thinking mans band, what they are is a musicians band and masters of their craft. One of the few reasons I am glad I am an old man I got to experience them through out my life. Anyone remember them playing at the Belgian hall.
Neil was a fantastic writer , and on that note Read clockwork angles then listen to the album with lyrics. Been a Rush fan since I was 14 . 59 now . In my opinion clockwork angels is thier opus .
Face melting solo! Watch a later version and watch the audience react. Amazing! I was privileged to experience it 5 times live. Keep up the great work. 👍
Some live clips you can see Barbie dolls at the front of the stage. Their inside joke was that was the only girls that came to their shows. Neil... you must react to one of his drum solo videos!! Thank you for the sunshine you bring to us!!
Freewill was the first RUSH song I ever heard - I was 10 years old and it blew my mind and started off my musical journey. I knew from then on music was the only thing I ever wanted to do!
One of the reasons that so many people play "Air Drums" when listening to Rush, is because Neil actually composed his drum parts, especially his drum solos. But when you listen to any Rush song, you'll find that while he did leave some space for improvising a bit, his live performances were nearly identical to the studio versions of the songs. I recently heard an interview by Stewart Copeland from "The Police," and he said that he wished people would do air drums at his concerts, but they couldn't because he didn't play the same every night. He said that Neil was the king of air drummers, because you knew what he was going to do, and when he would do it!
Dang! Watching Geddy makes me miss my White RICKENBACKER 😢 I have a Ibanez. A Rick goes for about $3000 as once $700! Great Reaction Red!! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
When I was 13, in '83, my then 27-year-old Big Bro was having a black one like Geddy's in his home for about a week or so, considering to buy it from its current owner; That has been the only time I ever got to play on one myself to this day! A beautiful instrument with a great sound, too! 😍 Sadly, he didn't buy it in the end as its price had been slightly out of his reach 😭😊 But Ibanez make great stuff, too! 😀👍 I'd once owned a '79 'Musician' bass like Sting's back in those days, just the fretted version, and it was a fabulous instrument! 🤩 Just a bit on the heavy side 😅
@@mightyV444 Ya I was 17 in 1979 and bought one for $700 while working a night job. Traded it for a 8 string Kramer for looks. Fell out of music and friendships. Stopped playing for decades. Now I have the Ibanez Bass and a 99 limited edition flying V guitar. ☮️

Signals had its 40th anniversary in 2022, with the commemorative box set and other merch released in the Spring of 2023 - so that would be a great t-shirt choice. As far as t-shirts go, though, my personal favourite is a black tee Neil wore on the R40 tour, containing logos from 3 earlier tours (a rabbit in a hat [Presto], a bolt and nut [Counterparts], and a skull [Roll the Bones]). I've worn it so often that I should probably visit their official merch channel and get myself a fresh one!
The middle instrumental jam during this song is my favorite. This song is timeless. You should do a reaction to a Rush documentary or react to a Rush live in concert video. That would be awesome!
I grew up in same area these guys are from (suburbs outside Toronto). Saw them 2 times live at Maple Leaf Gardens in the 80’s as a teenager. Those were the best live shows I have experienced.
"If you choose not to decide you still have made a choice" Brilliant Neil Peart Please react to "The Garden" from Rush the live Clockwork Angela Tour version The last song from the last álbum. A masterpiece. "There is no dry eye in the studio..." - Neil Peart
"Is that normal?" Yes. Yes it is. Bask Away. I recommend "Anatomy of a Drum Solo" for your doc watch. Neil breaks down his drum solo from the R30 tour.
I think you have come to the realization of how personally a Rush fan takes it if someone says they sucks! It's like a duty to tell them they have no clue what they're talking about.
This song was a vital part of my discovering my own faith in my teens, such that I got "I will choose a path that's clear, I will choose Freewill" on the inside of my right forarm about 10 years ago, along with the starman logo. I made it OK for me think think outside the box at a time in my life when self discovery was very difficult. Think "Subdivisions..." One had to believe in God (conform) 'or be cast out.' I'm now 60 years old and have been agnostic since I was about 14, thanks to this song and these very wise men.
Rush, who could for more. Well, we all ask for more. I just love your reaction to these songs, and I hope that they never cease to amaze you, as they never do me.
I love how enthused you are about Rush. I really get a kick out of it.......I've been that way since I first heard them in 1973, Please keep posting and have a look at "The Garden"....the live version. It's the last song they recorded and I saw them perfom it 3 times and of course it was absolutely fantastic! :):) Oh......when I grow up I want to play guitar just like Alex Lifeson!! :):)
I don't know if you're a fan of Trailer Park Boys, or if you've even heard of the series, but Rush, Alex in particular, made a few appearances . The show is Canadian, from Halifax Nova Scotia area to be precise, and follows the antics of 3 lifelong friends who live at the park. It's comedy that isn't for everyone, but you will laugh at the scenes with Alex. He is a jokester to the core.
Neil was my primary inspiration in drumming as an art form. He really brought musical legitimacy to rock drumming through his progressive ideas. He not only influenced me chop-wise, he affected my whole approach to composing and crafting drum parts. He put a lot of thought into his playing as well as his lyrics, truly a compositional artist, so intelligent and literate.
Although the album after this, Moving Pictures , is their most successful/most popular, the one before that this song was on, Permanent Waves, was equally incredible. It's easy to see how MP grew out of PW. This song in particular, meant so much to teenage me, who was 15 when I first heard it, and was amazed to get confirmation from the boys of my atheist leanings. Just another way Rush has touched my life.
There are so many live recordings of Rush that you could really watch videos of the same song to see how their sound developed. Watching Closer To The Heart from ESL, the GUP tour and then ASOH would really show how a song grew and morphed the longer they played it.
🎉❤ Thank you for reacting, absorbing, and feeling the music. I would request you hear " Rivendell". It's a tranquil ballad and will send you to a very peaceful place in the mind 👍🎶
To me, the solo section of this song is the most breathtaking minute of music in Rush's career. They are essentially all soloing at the same time. It should be chaos, but they were so talented and in tune with one another that it somehow gels perfectly.
It is so awesome to see young people rediscovering Rush. Really heart warming.

😄I got no words!
Brilliant from beginning to end. ❤🔥
Another great live performance of Freewill is on the Time Machine tour Cleveland 2011. 3 guys absolutely smashing it in their late 50's. Awesome
I have heared they are a thinking mans band, what they are is a musicians band and masters of their craft. One of the few reasons I am glad I am an old man I got to experience them through out my life. Anyone remember them playing at the Belgian hall.
Not only does the GOAT drummer write most of the music… he writes all the lyrics 😎
Geddy and Alex write most of the music
@@Chefjon7 True… NEP writes 1/3 of the music (drums) on every song. 1/3 is not most. I stand corrected.
Oh my goodness! That’s funny! I will absolutely do that. I love the drums and Neil plays the heck out of those drums
I come for Rush, i stay for your beautiful smile ❤
RUSH RULES!
It is so fun watching you go down the Rush rabbit hole
Amazing!
😍 Sadly, he didn't buy it in the end as its price had been slightly out of his reach 😭😊
But Ibanez make great stuff, too!
@@allengray5748 - 1979 was a great year, also musically! 😁 Anyway, I'm very happy for you having found your way back into playing music again! So awesome! 🤩🙏 I've never really stopped playing, but I'd joined a band on bass in December, after last having been in one 12 years ago; Good fun, mostly! 😊
Rock on, Allen!
😃👍🎵
@@mightyV444 THANKS! You too Mighty V! ☮️🎸
@@allengray5748 - Oh definitely! 😊 And you're welcome!
😀👍
🙋🏿♀️ 'Natural Science' please! 🥰🐰
Alway loving your reactions, i have spent the last 2 hours watching you Rush reactions, and im so glad you have discovered the greatest band
Thank you so much!!
"If you choose not to decide you still have made a choice" Brilliant Neil Peart
Please react to "The Garden" from Rush the live Clockwork Angela Tour version
The last song from the last álbum. A masterpiece. "There is no dry eye in the studio..." - Neil Peart
It was Neils' swansong .
"Is that normal?" Yes. Yes it is. Bask Away.
I recommend "Anatomy of a Drum Solo" for your doc watch. Neil breaks down his drum solo from the R30 tour.
Good one 👍🏻
I think you have come to the realization of how personally a Rush fan takes it if someone says they sucks! It's like a duty to tell them they have no clue what they're talking about.
Yes, every Permanent Waves song is incredibly good!
Think "Subdivisions..." One had to believe in God (conform) 'or be cast out.'
I'm now 60 years old and have been agnostic since I was about 14, thanks to this song and these very wise men.
Beautiful!
Rush, who could for more. Well, we all ask for more.
I just love your reaction to these songs, and I hope that they never cease to amaze you, as they never do me.
Our heroes were still in their twenties when this was filmed. They got better with age.
Brilliant song, brilliant performance, love your reaction!
1 of my favourites❤🇨🇦
I really enjoyed the documentary "Time Stand Still". The end is a bit of a tearjerker.
The Garden is their most beautiful song.
Thus is the song that announced the band ri in the `980s...A killer guitar solo!!!
As a teen this song ruled my mind
My favorite lyric. If u choose not to decide u still have made a choice
Fabulous ❤❤ 🇨🇦🍁
There are so many live recordings of Rush that you could really watch videos of the same song to see how their sound developed. Watching Closer To The Heart from ESL, the GUP tour and then ASOH would really show how a song grew and morphed the longer they played it.
I appreciate the thought provoking lyrics too. Neil wrote 95 percent of their songs.
He is still the professor. We are still learning.
Whatever would we do without StickHits? And Red, of course. 😉
