    • @scottboutin4781
      @scottboutin4781 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm turning 50 , lost count along time ago. Guessing I've seen about 250, maybe close to 300. Recently found a box of old stubs, and brought back great memories of the arena days. Most my concert experiences were 84-2000, started hating arena shows when all the bands started doing clubs. Once I got a taste of the clubs and small theaters, that was it! Love getting close and feeling a part of the show. Arenas isolate the musicians AWAY from the fans. U can have the same xperince watching a DVD in your living room. Clubs, u r sharing an experience WITH the band. And forget the exorbitantly over priced arena shows are now. Forget it. Not worth the $$$ by far. It's not about getting old, it's about getting something for your money, and enjoying the show. I think it's sad what has become of the rock n roll show now. I.E. KISS end of the road tour. Goodbye already and thanks but no thanks, I love be buying a new guitar with the 2 grand I'll be keeping in my pocket. Saw Sammy 3 times in theaters for a grand total of $180 ,partied hard up front or very close, shook his hand, sang with him, awesome experiences and memories of a life time with THE MAN , thank u red rocker for earning every penny.

    Ill be honest, I wasnt expecting a whole lot from this interview, I admit I had a bias/preconcieved notion that assumed Mrs. McCarthy would be very simple/basic and "safe" with questions..it is something I constantly work on...this is a perfect example of that bias kicking me. That said, this is a fantastic interview!!! Sammy is always honest, forthcoming and tells it like it is and he and Jenny just locked in. Her questions are excellent and she either did a lot of research or she is/has always been a huge fan. She made it one of the best Sammy interviews I've seen. That affirms my need to stop that damn bias of mine. Well done Mrs. McCarthy! Sammy, thanks for being you! Van Halen raised the bar when you accepted the gig. mark overstreet you obviously do not know the history of Van Halen and definitely should not be making a comment because, first Van Halen was soo big they were iconic level before Sammy Hagar joined the band, so the only way to go would have been down, but luckily Sammy was able to pull it off and keep them moving in the same direction from a record sales standpoint, but musically every true Van Halen knows that the real time musically was with David Lee Roth, and I’m a big Sammy Hagar fan, but I liked him more solo.

    Sammy is inspirational, his comments about “knowing where his Brakes are” is so true. I know so many people I used to hang with that destroyed their lives because they had no brakes or will power. Nothing wrong with having fun, but have a purpose!

    Sitting on a beach. My whole growing-up life, my dream was to one day have my bungalow on a beach on a tropical island somewhere. I planned on just sitting down in my chair staring out at the ocean, meditating and never moving again. That dream finally came true. I got my house on the beach in Thailand, I went and sat down in my beach chair under a palm tree..... and 20 minutes later I thought "I'm bored, now what am I going to do?" 😂

    I saw Van Halen in 1991 in Tinley Park @ The World Theater. A.I.C. opened to empty seats and they were pissed....lol. I was 21 years old. Nobody wanted to hear Grunge, it was forced down our throats and it lived a short life just like Punk and New Wave. Tavistock did have a few strike outs. People prefer their ears to be tickled.....Zeppelin was the epitome.

      How is that possible? Sammy has so many friends in so many walks of life. Those people are known as good people. I'm not some big celebrity watcher, I've stumbled on so many examples without even trying. It's very true you can tell much about a person by whom his friends are. He has done so much for charity for decades without fanfare. I learned about it from hearing Alice Cooper talk about it years ago and then Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith and later James Hetfield.

    The hardest part of performing live is having to do it when you don't feel good and just don't want to. Playing music is fun. Even on the worse days when you drag your ass in to a practice or a show 99 % of the time as soon as you start playing it starts going away. Most of the time. Not always. this guy amazes me for his age. I'm 62 and was a Montrose fan as a teenager so he is 71 and he looks better than most young men. When your image is your bread and butter you damn well better take care of yourself.

    I love Sammy as a person and a rocker. If I ever could make a wish to jam with someone, it would be him. He is a humble, funny, guy that I don't think would make fun of me but help me play guitar to the best of my ability. Sammy seems like a mentor. Not full of himself.
