Mazzy in Phoenix with Mike is the 2024 collab we desperately need....!
I hope Mike watches his own videos so he can work out the audio issues. I have to crank up the volume just to hear him speak…and then an ad plays and wakes up my entire neighborhood. 😂
Watching this now due to the time difference, AZ to the UK.
The Sabbath video was your honest opinion. Never change. The haters are just sheep following the crowd. Keep being you Mike.
Great to see you and Mazzy together - enjoyable live stream
You too guys work well together. You can't really BS each other, and it seems you don't take things so personal, that it works well. Hope to see more of you two.
This was a great conversation, thanks gents!🤓♥️
Mazzy, your house didn’t double in value. Your money is worth half of what it was worth a few years back. Your house just got rerated to adjust for that.
That's not how it works. Inflation is not 100%
Only in the USA slabbing is stupid, it will kill the true market relegating records to an "investment" commodity for the idle rich to speculate on or in
Slabbing a sealed record would mean the condition of the vinyl itself would be forever unknown. Sealed records could be pressed defectively
and there's always the risk the wrong LP could be inside the sleeve.
Mike, we are drawn to your honesty. That’s your gift. I wish there was affordable solution to a good stereo.
I do wish you’d take 10 or 20 classic rock titles that are accessible that sound great. The only thing I hate about Rhino is by the time we hear about them, they’re sold out.
My buying habits changed a lot recently. I started building my collection in 2018. Probably got the core of it by 2022 and since then, I’ve been upgrading records in my collection with better versions (like NEVERMIND ORG to German OG). I think I’m largely done. I buy a few here and there and try to sell off the records that I score less than 8/10. The only records I’m waiting on are Massive Attack and Tool reissues. Aside from that, recent purchases were Amon Tobin’s PERMUTATION reissue and Fred’s and MOV’s Miles Davis L’ASCENSEUR reissues, which are excellent. But I don’t buy records anywhere near how I used to. I couldn’t. I like to listen to my ENTIRE collection at least 3x/year.
On Black Sabbath - I have a VG++++ US first pressing green label (from one of your past auctions) and I A/B'd it against the Rhino High Fidelity. And I agree with you completely. There's just a slight layer of distortion and sibilance on the US first pressing that simply isn't there on the Rhino High Fidelity. You might not notice it if you don't directly compare the two pressings, but once you do, it's very obvious that Rhino pressing just has more clarity and everything is much more crisp. It just feels newer and fresher. I think the people that are losing their minds over your opinion on the Vertigo pressings are outraged that their $400 record doesn't sound as good as a $39.99 (retail) $150 (aftermarket) new pressing.
No one is “losing their minds” if they have a differing opinion. No wonder there is so much polarization with such hyperbolic language. Also you can find affordable Vertigo’s still if you’re a savvy record buyer. As someone who’s owns both OG Greenies and Vertigo’s I love them both but have to disagree with Mike. I’m not protecting an investment as I’m not selling nor did I pay large sums for my Sabbath records to sway my opinion as I bought them before the absurd vinyl inflation. Also Mike loses credibility with me with his assessment completely when he stated “it’s a badly recorded album”. I mean “what?!” It’s a heavy rock album that’s always sounded perfect as far as I’m concerned. I just think people should make up their own minds. If you haven’t heard it yourself. I understand taking suggestions but I would think it’s foolish to stop buying Vertigo’s “because Mike said so”. Actually let’s hope that’s the case. Every one please stop. Then prices can go down and I’ll get some dupes/upgrade copies.
I misses your videos love from germany
I love you so much! I recently just found your kislux and i’m in love!! Your videos are so fun and you energy is just MWAH! keep living your life
Love the chemestry here. I support a Mazzy trip to Phoenix.
Mike, I met Danny Carey two weeks ago in Paris. I guess I was so star struck that I forgot to ask him the only question I would ever really want to ask him: When are the reissues coming?!!! Instead I asked him something like, “when did did you guys get in.” The answer to that question was, “oh yesterday.” What’s wrong with me?!
So, when the hell are the Tool discography reissues coming? Supposedly, Danny is in charge of remaster/reissue. He was on Rick Beato a couple months back and he did say he was involved in remastering the discography and had listened to "AENIMA on 180g vinyl." If it were almost any other band, that would be encouraging.
Right. It us a teaser for them
It would be a fun livestream with you and Perry Cox.
Oh he's from Seattle..makes sense now.
mike the record store you’re thinking off is ergot, it’s in the east village on 2nd and 2nd. i went there right after i heard you mention it.
if either of you need tips/suggestions while you’re here, im a big fan of you both and would be more than happy to fill you in.
met mazzy last year, looking forward to meeting you guys this year.
sparks is fine, but you should set your sights on quality meats ;)
No Angel 😢
Re your comments on ecovinyl - discogs entry for billie eilish "hit me hard hit me soft" vinyl indicates some eco-mix and bio-plastic versions but majority of versions are not described as such so are those pressed on normal pvc vinyl?
Why does Mofi take so long to produce releases ? I think I preordered the VH II seems like 6 months ago as soon as it was up for preorder ,
The next Coldplay is also on Eco vinyl
Mike, have you considered offering records with an audio "gear" purchase. How about 10% (or 5%) of the purchase price in records? Just a thought...
You both know you will end up with the Lennon Uber box.
Paid for or otherwise.
Mike- Does your son collect records? If so, would you hire him to work at the In Groove?
My total system cost 5gs and I see no reason to upgrade. I would rather buy more instruments then crap for playback
Eco vinyl ? 1st time Ive heard of this crap... let them listen to a 1950s blue note. Eco wasnt even a word back then ! haha
I’ve stopped buying earlier than most. Local stores have ALOT of collections incoming.
YES! Mazzy is right! You absolutely HAVE to show your gear right on the front page. THAT is what you are doing wrong Mike. When that FIRST page comes up you should have your name/logo at the top, right underneath it some SHARP looking gear, and then below that and onward your vinyl. Mazzy nailed it!
Yep... Just what I live for... to make you even richer... 🙄
Mike, Mazzy’s fine, but I watch this stream for you to discuss our questions. I don’t really care about your guys’ travel plans.
You mean you didn't come here to listen to Mazzy say the same shit over and over?
There was a lot of digression unfortunately! 😂
Mazzy giving advice for a better user interface on the In Groove's website and then discovers the wonders of the hamburger menu...
Apart from that, having guests for your streams might be cool...
