  • Trains Banging Over The Railroad Diamonds And A 5 Locomotive Train With DPU + The Usual Gate Runner! Norfolk Southern & CSX Freight Trains In Muncie, Indiana. Coolest Ever Railroad Crossing With 4 Tracks and a couple of railroad diamonds in the city! Railroad signals and line side signals are next to the crossing and we have a bunch of trains including a horn salute and wave from the engineer of a local railroad switching train. I rode up here with @1960gambit and we hung out with the local rail fans all day. This is some left over video that I never posted. Best frequencies are 160.800 for CSX and 160.440 & 160.950 for Norfolk Southern. The big truck with the electro magnet had dropped off new tie plates along both sides of the track and for some reason they picked up most of the ones that they had just dropped off.
    Filmed Mostly in 4K and some in 1080 with 7.67GB on August 10, 2022
    Thanks for watching! If you have time, please watch another video of mine to help keep my channel going. Every view helps support my channel. Viewing time helps pay for gas, motels, rental cars etc. I have a list of places that I plan on filming so watch another video of mine if you have the time.

    Those diamonds always fascinated me! I had one with my J. C. Gilbert O-guage set back in the mid-50's. I liked it when my locomotive and cars would repeatedly go over them!
    But knowing metallurgy, I know the steel in those diamond impact pieces has to be made out of a VERY tough steel. Has to be made put of different stock than the standard 139 pound rail. I also heard that the sections of curve have a slightly different alloy than the straight sections.

    We had towns that had no speed restriction and we went through them at 60 MPH. We had one town that had a 20 MPH speed restriction and they raised it to 30 MPH for about a month then raised it to 40 MPH. We had less close calls at the 40 MPH speed restriction than we did at the 20 MPH speed restriction.

    Another magic video JT. I went to a model train show at the weekend and picked up an N Gauge Auto Rack. I was amazed at the size of the model, then remembered seeing the real thing three years ago when on a coast to coast Amtrak US tour.
    Best vacation we ever had.
    And am I the only one that tries to count the cars on all the trains?….and loses count half way through!

    • @RailRide
      @RailRide 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gotta be fully alert to catch 'em all :) There have been times when I've had to rewind 3-4, sometimes five times to do it. If I'm still losing count then, I solve it by...
      ...
      ...
      ...finally going to sleep :D
      Oh, and if you think an N scale autorack is big, wait till you handle an O scale one :D Over the years, I must have accumulated 50+ of them (with five more coming this year). The only way I could run all of them is to join a club, 'cause that train is already longer than my house o_O

    Wow! Señor Jaws! I left Indiana in 1974 when I graduated from Purdue. Forgot how pretty the late summer skies were. I've never been back. I think your recording in 1080 is a 'hit'. It allows me to see the 'duckies', 'bunnies' and other little critters in the clouds. Or, maybe I just didn't pay close enough attention back in the day when out on the $3-green -fees-for-students golf course. ... ¡Fore! ... Gracias por tu video. Nice. RT sends, Puebla, México...

    I worked 16 years with the railroad. We could never figure what these guys painted on the sides on freight cars, and never see them do it. More so, what makes you want sneak into a freight yard with spray paint? One of the most dangerous places on earth. But some of their jobs made us laugh, and some were beautiful. I never, in my 16 years, saw a guy spraying a train.

    Interesting how slow the gates go up after a train passes at this crossing. And then with the last train, they seemed to go down at the last minute with the short train approaching the crossing which gave even more time for the gate runners to cross in front of the train. Sounds like this is a "quiet zone" unless the engineers honk to acknowledge you which is always nice. That last engineer looked like a guy I once worked with. Lastly, I always enjoy your videos of your cute pets AND slide show, of course, with the AMAZING and colorful "artwork" you often feature like in this video. Those engines look even more dramatic in your slide shows. Thanks for sharing all this JT and have a nice weekend!

      My condolences on the passing of your beloved Queen. Regarding train noise, I once read that train horns in the USA often go from 80-150 decibels, though most are on the higher end. I once was at a crossing in Holbrook, Arizona USA and the speeding BNSF engine had a horn so loud that I had to plug my ears since I was outside of my car.

      @MrSnowMen 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@DougCeleste Thank you for your condolences, yup, It's a shame that she has now passed.
      I do understand that the horns need to be loud. Drivers with the radio loud, and I am also seeing more pedestrian with headphones on. (EVEN idiots on electric scooters)

    I worked for a passenger railroad. The funniest thing was a graffiti guy that posted "Cool Disco Dan" on damn near every building from Baltimore to D.C. Years later, our family traveled on train to the west, as we passed through, behind the FBI building, we saw it, "Cool Disco Dan". He tagged the FBI building.

    Wow, these trains are getting longer every day. The Trains in our area of Central North Carolina are on average 1 to 2 miles long and my favorite site to watch trains is the diamond at Rochelle, IL and there trains, wow are they long, they clean out the yard for sure.

    Great good video, mr Jaw Tooth.
    See on this video that the NS use his single line and the CSX the double line.
    Question: why make the raildiamond a double switcher the NS can use the CSX lines, the CSX can use the NS linebusiness as usual in the Netherlands everyday.
