personally I think Wildz is a little bitch for quitting out like that. Anyone who quits without the game playing out, especially to steal the hype/glory that Jeja earned.
Talking about melee, funny enough, kirby's d-air in melee, while it takes forever to come out (18 frames), it keeps the same property as it did in S64, and spikes on every frame of the move, making it so funny to use 'cause it send you straight down like nothing. Still, the knockback can be stopped by jumping or inputting up-b, but bettter hope you ain't right below him...
Another reason Kirby-Kazuya is decent for Kirby is because Kirby is smol. When he copies Kazuya's Neutral-B, Kazuya will not be able to camp near as effectively. He will not hit Kirby (most of the time) while Kirby can hit him.
I worked media at Afterburner, the event JeJa won, and in an interview with him he said “Lowkey, I think that man is gonna win this whole event.” referring to Onin who was sitting next to him at the time. It was great to later see him win 😂
as a KY player i popped OFF hearing Wildz mentioned, hes legit so good, mad respect to Jejajeja for pulling that off against a genuinely amazing Kazuya

So something I'm surprised wasn't mentioned at all in terms of Ultimate Kirby is that there was one huge upset Kirby made pre-lockdown, and that's Jesuischoq's Kirby taking down Glutonny. Obviously compared to the results these two have JSQ wasn't able to keep up that same level after that upset and kind of fell off the map pretty soon after, but I feel like it was worth a mention.

Fun fact, I had the privilege to cast the set at 13:48 between JeJa and Jared. Cascadia Clash 2023 was a super fun event, and I'm happy to have gone, but what I need y'all to understand if you never saw that tournament is that he placed 2nd at that tournament, making it to Grand Finals on Winner's side. He only lost to two players in the entire event: Mr. E in Grands and Grands Reset, and Major in Pools. Major, the Ganondorf player. Cascadia was a weird ass tournament.
I watched all the way to the end of the video, This video was really awesome ! as someone who primarily follows competitive splatoon, with not alot ot attention to smash, but as a kirby believer, this video was amazing nice work
A good thing to remember about ultimate tier lists is unlike other smash title especially melee or 64 There are so many characters and archetypes that even bottom tiers have plenty of winning matchups
Do you plan to make a sephiroth related video in this format, like for example a video explaining how bad he is despite his dlc privelages and long range, I feel alot talk about the low tier king ganon but never talk about the low tier dlc sephiroth
i always thought that kirby shouldn't be a d-tier, his tilts and aereals are way too good, people also see his special moves as bad when they have a lot of potential, lastly, his floaty beign gives him the footstool almost every time. i would say that he goes to the top of c or the bottom of b tier at least (yes, im a kirby main, and i made my own strange combo with kirby's down b)
Jejajeja didn’t use up tilt dair loops previously because it is way too hard on any of the other characters he faced. It only works consistently on a handful of characters, after all.
Not too surprising. Doc-kirby is a ridiculously volatile matchup. Doc can blow up kirby in like 2 interactions and something about his air physics means kirby's usual bread and butter combos just... don't work. As a kirby main, I'm more afraid of a high level doc than almost any other character

IIRC, the only characters with worse follow-ups from 0% are Diddy and Pichu, because the only true combo from a Forward throw is Nair. You can connect an instant turnaround Bair to that, but that's pretty much it, and the timing is nearly frame perfect. With most other characters, with proper execution, you can get 60-70% by following up with Fair to a second grab, but Mario's physics and quick frame options make that unviable. And yeah, definitely agree that the MU is pushed in Kirby's favor with pills. One of those matchups where I'm always looking for an inhale, to abuse it mercilessly. I like Kirby in Smash Ultimate because he's quick, well-rounded, and has a good recovery. This allows me to observe the enemy's behaviors, assisting greatly in forming counter-strategies to dodge their attacks and keep putting the pressure on them.
No no, Smashigami HAS to be a thing now. We go back and find every character matchup in every major's Grand Finals and find what combinations have and have not happened before
I know kirby is super good because I play him. It’s insane how good the character’s ‘garbage’ moves became incredible in ult. Without air dodging hammer and stone become legit threatening at ledge. Charge hammer is an incredible aerial. It’s really not being able to air dodge away from all of Kirby’s stuff that turns it into a frame trap monster
Sakurai needs to stop holding back my boy. Kirby deserves better. Half of his moveset is basically so situational that it’s useless. If Kirby had actually good specials, math he could be better than low tier. Maybe they ranked characters based on their punish games, which Ness has a really good one. But Ness also has a terrible recovery in a game where one hit equals offstage.
In my opinion he’s been not much of a good character in melee because the game was quite unfinished and moves /controls were slippery for some characters
as a Kirby main since 64, who is nowhere near the competitive scene and doesn't really like camping because I'm playing for fun, I'd love a guilheww video, because it *is* more fun to win.
Man, maybe I should start playing Smash again. Kirby is the only character I play as besides Dedede for when I’m tired of being picked on by the other fighters. Also I sure don’t feel like Kirby is Sakurai’s favorite character when I’m playing as him.
I love Kirby. His issues are so obvious but his normals are so satisfying to just smack people with. I just wish he had functional specials. Hammer is unnecessary in every single way.
