    My preference would have been with a cast iron griddle and also using smaller top weights in order to get a complete sear and be able to cook both steaks at the same time . Also I would have used the extreme smoke even if it took me all day to bring the steaks up to 110 . Also maybe a little compound butter on top of the steaks while resting ? Just my thoughts ? Great job!

      Thank you for watching. I do like compound butter. I do have a smaller weight that I will use next time.

    Grillgrates are fantastic, I've had mine about 2 months now and they give the best grill marks. Thanks for the video and I'm impressed with the Rec-Tec. I've been kicking around getting a pellet smoker to add to my arsenal so I'll give Rec-Tec a good look. Cheers!

      thank you for watching. I like the grill grates and will use them more often. I would recommend looking at the RecTec if it fits in your budget. I definitely say look for a pellet grill that has a PID style controller- they keep your temp within a few degrees.

    Nicely done LT. That Rec Tec is hands down the best value there is for a pellet grill in my humble opinion. I've owned two other brands and they aren't even close! Steaks looked perfect amigo!

    Very nice. I have a set of grillgrates that i got for the q1200 and rarely use. So today i used them as a griddleplate on the spirit. Worked reeally well :)

      @@LouisatRshackBBQ Hi Louis. Just subscribed! My RT700 is on the way now. I ordered the grill grates and the front folding shelf. Your video helped confirm I made a good choice! So I am watching vids until I get mine in a week or so... God bless.

      Brian Vallotton thank you for watching, I think you will be very happy with the RT700. I was not a believer in grill grates until my buddy at GT’s Barbecue ( he has a you tube channel as well ) let me borrow his and I love them.

    Typically really great video. Glad to see “gently seasoned” and didn’t kill the meat. Love it. Unfortunately my opinion is less is more. I really learn a lot from your videos.

      thank you for watching. I find with steak - just the basic seasoning is all you need. thank you for the kind words-- i am just a backyard cooker- really no experience but like playing around with different grills.

    Thanks good video. Love Grillgrates . I have a full set on my Weber and they run between 75-150 degrees hotter than my original grates, ..checking them with Infrared gun...well worth the purchase..

    Enjoyed the video! I have a question.
    Did you do the initial step of bringing the steaks up to 110 to get the smoke flavor into them? I have heard that on the higher temps on a pellet grill they do not produce much smoke.

    • @LouisatRshackBBQ
      @LouisatRshackBBQ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for watching. To answer your question it is true at higher temps pellet grills do not produce alt of smoke - so yes in theory by slow cooking at the beginning does add more smoke flavor and then crank up the heat to get that char crust and cross hatch marks from the grates

    Thanks for the video. I am picking up a Rec Tec soon and it will be my first pellet smoker. If you don't mind me asking, what are the pans of liquid you have near the back of the grill? Thanks!

    • @LouisatRshackBBQ
      @LouisatRshackBBQ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for watching and commenting. Although it is not required- I like having a water pan with water in it. (It’s one of those preference things). It just there to add moisture and help keep the meat from drying out. Try it both ways and let me know what you think. I am sure you will love your RECTEC
