That tri tip looked amazing man!! I used that Montreal as a base on my prime rib and it tastes great with my other rubs. Nice video as always brother!!
You placed the grates on the coolest part of the grill. No chance of the best marks. I have went started using Kinders The Blend, its Montreal Steak but at the next level.
@@Coopsfixeruppershop It's an amazing smoker for sure! When my pit boss burnt to a crisp, I didn't think they'd do anything for me and I had an ABUNDANCE of people telling me to go 1250. I went ahead and did just that! It's reliable, holds temps like crazy, huge auger for quick temps, xtreme smoke mode works well and I love putting wood chips on the cast iron deflector for added smoke flavor. I have quite a bit of recteq videos if you are interested in checking it out.
The TriTip looked great. I purchased grill grates with my PK360. Honestly I'm sorry I spent the cash since I prefer to reverse sear right over the fire as well, better results IMO.
Yeah, I tried this as well and came away with similar results. So now, I'll smoke the tri tip on the Recteq while I get my Weber Kettle going with charcoal and finish the sear on the Weber. And no the Bullseye is NOT as good as a charcoal grill for searing. Have that too and wish I hadn't purchased it.
It's very hard to beat a live fire sear. I use my kamado joe for hot and fast cooks that includes searing but I'll be honest, the pit boss isn't half bad with their direct flame action either. Wish recteq had something like that but I still love the recteq!
@@stoodz It's supposed to, I gave it a good bit of time for it to get that high but it got to the mid 500s. I'm sure it can get up there if I gave it more time but I'll be honest, it was kind of sketchy.
wipe yer grill grates with avocado oil right before you put yer meat on. Other oils burn at that high temp ,, . i just put the oil on a paper towel or rag .. youll hear the sizzle you are wanting ... great marks too
GRILL grates is one of my best BBQ purchases💯💯 ...nice cook brother 👍🏽👍🏽
Nothing wrong with that Montreal Steak seasoning.. and it still goes hard!👊🏿💯💯

Yeah others noted to put it on the far side. I'll have to redo this again.
@@ElSenorBbq I love Recteq! I live near the HQ, they are great products!
I have the small 340 and the Bullseye. It took a while to learn them.

Most definitely! The kiss of the flame to the meat is just something that can't really be replicated.
Great job!!
Thank you!
I really like the Montreal steak seasoning but f found I get better grill marks with a finer ground seasoning.
You might be onto something, thanks!

I use the flat side of the grates & get a nice sear
Thinking about adding to the fleet. Recteq or pit boss?
Honestly that really depends. They both have their pros and cons. I actually made this very video between the two.
what temperature did you sear at? if you said during the vid I missed it.
I set it to it's max setting but seared off in the 500s.
@@ElSenorBbq isn't the 1250 supposed to get up to 700? False advertising?

How’s the sear with the flat side of the grill grates?
I haven't tried but but definitely something I'll do
Works great - that’s the side I use
Next time take the grates out and remove the heat diffuser. Then put grates back and put the grill grates right over the fire pot.
That's a very good idea!
great video bro!
Thanks my man!
@@ElSenorBbq hey bud I would like to have on my next TH-cam live on Saturday at 6 pm central if you’re interested
@@Trumpetmaster77 sure, I don't think I've ever done a live through youtube but I'm sure I can figure it out!

The hottest spot is all the way to right end, that's where you should place your GrillGrates.
I'll have to give that a try next time.

I sear with my Kamado Joe
I love my joe for searing! I think I use my joe more than any of the smokers I have here. Just so versatile.
Enjoyed the video. Lot of good information.
Maybe try setting a bacon press on top of the steak next time.
Great job.
