Justin there is so much more Rush below the surface! These guys LOVE to JAM!!! Your a musician, how many Jam sessions do you have tucked away that you never played in front of an audience? So much more to be discovered!!!

The 40th anniversary edition of A Farewell to Kings (discs 2 & 3) contains the entire Hammersmith 78 show (including the missing 4 tracks: Lakeside Park, Closer to The Heart, 2112 (-Oracle), Drum Solo), all remixed by Terry Brown.

Many months ago, you said in one of the vids that you'd do Boys in Brazil when you got to Rush in Rio.

Didn't know about Boys in Brazil (recap: I drifted away from Rush after Counterparts and only rediscovered the comeback albums 3 or 4 years ago).. So watching it now and just got to the question "Where is Neil?" - I can tell this is going to be a good documentary 👍

I agree with your assessment of Disk 3, definitely some hits and misses for me but, overall not bad. Thank you for your perseverance Justin, looking forward to the next batch of videos.

It’s the weakest of the live albums but it’s so raw I still love it and it’s the only place I have heard certain songs live such as A Farewell to Kings and yes, Cinderella Man

I agree better quality shows which begs the question from me: on the 40th Anniversary of the Signals album: why don’t they have an entire show of Signals tour 82-83??? The live record option from the tour is SORELY MISSED! I’m a little pissed that it’s not offered but that’s neither here or there. It sucks and that’s my point!

C'mon kitty is cool and just saying hello. :)
In the interviews they've posted they talk about jam tapes at times, but they don't consider those finished enough songs to release. also there was that bit where Geddy and Alex are talking about their "Persona Bands" that they made up that they have recordings of. Sometime in the future those may come out (after they're gone perhaps).... It would be fun to hear them no matter what condition they're in...

Yeah, I would have been fine if they had left these recordings on the shelf.

Hopefully after Boys in Brazil we get Snakes and Arrows...Feedback can be a month after you finally do Clockwork Angels...skip R30...love it but a break from live performances is needed...however doing Snakes Live after the album would be apropos...🤘

I think Rush released the '78 concert because the pre-Permanent Waves/Moving Pictures era of the band is relatively un-documented in terms of live recordings. Other than All the World's a Stage and the ABC '74 semi-official release (and now I suppose the '74 St. Catherines school show with John Rutsey) that's it. I have a feeling their memories of a poor performance were eased once they heard the actual tapes, which are an honest document of how they typically sounded back then.
Justin, the next official release after Rio should be Feedback. It's a hit or miss affair. More of a curiosity than an official Rush release. That would be followed by R30, I guess (and that GUP live show you want to cover.)

I still think they played a little too fast in some songs and Geddy was trying to play catch up!
