Hi Joe, a great channel which I have never found, and the algorithm didn’t show me , but with the link from Freddie Dodds …… I have lots of your stuff to watch, maybe I’ll get another T140 - my first Trumpet in ‘79! …. I hope the link brings a heap more subscribers to your excellent channel.

I have an Indian made tank to fit to a '67 Bonne. A little rough but it will work. Identifying and chasing threads is first order of business.

Well done, especially the wiring harness, I just cobbled my old one to fit the new parts, seems to work tho. If you change the tav class to historic vehicle tax is £0 and you don't require an MOT, they assume you keep it roadworthy lol

Yay!!! Never a doubt in my mind you wouldn’t get it done 😊

Well done! Great to see another old'un return to the road. When I built my Thunderbird flat tracker back in 1992, I found a lovely original tank with terrible paint, which I had repainted. When I traded the TBird for the pile of T140 bits which is now resembling a motorbike..... I kept the tank, looks like that was a wise move. I was hopeful of getting the ignition system working this week.... guess who ordered the wrong type of Lucas 6volt coil... DOH! Another is on its way.

Awesome pal, thanks for the kind words. We do have the original tank and probably should have gone with that but in the interest of saving time…. We didnt (save time). Cant wait to see yours sorted pal!

Why does it need a Mot?

    • @TheWurks
      @TheWurks  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi,
No requirement for MOT however, this build was a total recommission on bike that had been off the road for 30+ years for a friends father. Any fresh build I do though, for the £20 or so I'd rather it be put on the brake rollers and I trust Ade our MOT inspector to be very thorough.

My T140 has an after market replica tank fitted, probably from India and not had any issues in the 5 years I’ve owned the bike.

Yeah, I did a paint job on one for a matchless G3L a few years back and that was absolutely fine too. Maybe an odd one or luck of the draw....

Real Triumph have kickers and are made in England. I love kick starting my Triumph Tr-6 to show the Harley guys how to start a proper motorcycle 🏍️.

That is a big no go, never buy a cheap aftermarket Tank especially if it’s from India. There are still lots of original Tanks around.

I couldn’t agree more.. not my bike, not my choice. I would have preferred to rework the original!

Can I ask why you got an mot for an exempt 45 yr old bike?

Glad you got it back on the road. Where'd you get that fuel tank? The paint looks ok, but the scallops (or whatever you call the white part) seems off a bit. They should follow the natural lines of the tank toward the back.

Hey pal thanks.. not sure it was provided to me by the owner. I would have preferred to repaint the original tbh

Aren't old Triumphs meant to have oil leaks? LOL I am sure you will sort it. Nice bit of fitting on the tank though mate, I new "THE SASS" would pass.....

Thanks Mark… your positivity and support is always a delight. Yeah its funny Luke was hating on it leading up but, after that first ride when it was sat in the MOT station it really looked the part and his perspective has switch!

I had a '63 that was leak free for a few years. A lot of work and some rework of some parts to stop the leaks.
