  • This video on the Ricon hydraulic wheelchair lift was inspired by my own search on the web for this content. My hope is that others will find it who need the same info and are helped in some way.
    Please download your own users manual specific to your model by finding the model number on the unit so you use the exact fluid recommended by the manufacturer. Thanks, ~Jamie

    I was taught that ground level means all the way down barrier flat then fill otherwise it may overfill and make a mess

    Just a thought Jamie...I think you could do an excellent series on de-cluttering your rig. That is a constant challenge for all of us. You could take us into your own process, but also get tips and insights from other nomads.

    Up north plow fluid is just normal but the fill tips are great for any quart sized oil container. I use them for brake, power steering, transmission fluids, even differential lube. Easy to store and lists of different lines can be added to the conical tip. If your handy you can also make an extension to fill the reservoir. Just make sure you can see the fill line. I added an led light in the lift well and that helps in not only using the lift in low light but seeing my level more easily. Great idea for a video Jamie.
    Always thinking outside, and sometimes how to get inside the box! LoL! 👍🇺🇸

    Great tips. Another idea or tip would be to use a Turkey Baster for fluid transfers. It might not work on everything but it could be another option to get fluid out of or into something. Of course make sure that now contaminated Turkey baster ends up in your tool repair drawer and not in the Kitchen ! They are inexpensive and they work!

    If you look at that hydraulic arm on the bottom is a pipe that you can bleed out the air

    You should have mentioned to refill fluid with the lift in the stowed position

      I topped it off in the open position and it worked out great. That’s worth looking more into.

    safety is not mentioned, you can end up injured without taking precautions. For example, all lifts do not use the same fluid, second, it is imperative that the cylinders/rams have returned the fluid to the reservoir tank. Failure to do this can lead to an overfill situation when you use the lift causing fluid to be ejected out of the tank. Use PPE to save eyes and use gloves to protect from the fluid's chemicals.

    Bus aide here, I work with these here lift gates a lot and it not that hard but again, we have folks who help us. But sometimes I have to figure it out when we on the road. Luckily I ain’t had to fill it.

    • @enigmaticnomadics
      @enigmaticnomadics  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not only can you fix anything on that lift but you can fix anything at all. Doesn’t matter how complicated. I’m not making lite of that contention.
      Use the life for grocery cart, music stage, motorcycle lift.

    So you can put new fluid in with old? I thought it would have to be drained then filled. Any hydraulic pro's out there please comment. thx

    • @enigmaticnomadics
      @enigmaticnomadics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you have enough, it’s always a good idea to completely bleed any system but if the fluid inside doesn’t look dirty, just add more. It is VERY important to match fluid with the manufacturer. 👍🏼

    Why would you f****** the presentation of your wheelchair lift when there is a brass ring at the top of the hydraulic arm you can unscrew the brass piece and pour the oil in freely. It's a 3 minute job my friend. I do not mean to be rude you are only trying to be helpful

    How come i can't find everything about installing the lift in the van
    Everything i find is tearing one out
    There are some that shows bits and pieces but not step by step

    • @enigmaticnomadics
      @enigmaticnomadics  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would imagine that not enough ppl put them in. My advice would be to find one already installed and take pictures.
      It's gonna require a lot of welding and support, deep into the bus.
      Also, I would call the manufacturer and see if they can send over installation papers.
      That lift will be very heavy and need to carry even heavier stuff than it weighs. Good luck!!
