It was People's Disappointment for the current president is the reason why the majority won't hesitate to favor the opposing guy, specially to the working class citizens. They already saw how the current president performed, and how bad his been doing, specially the laws that been passed and what he do in certain situation. Its not long for majority of people to realize that "the current president sucks, and I'm voting for the other guy this election".
This is how the Duterte and Marcos rose to power, back then the Aquino's are favored by the masses and when Noynoy Aquino's run for president it was a land slide victory. During Aquino's presidency a controversies that made people lost their lives and their trust, the Dengvaxia controversy claimed many children's lives and the Mamasapano clash which claimed a lot of soldier's lives, RUMOR has it that Aquino only did it for money but it's not been proven. Many people are left shaken by those incident.
