They are so cute! I want one! I am planning to move abroad by myself, so Lovot would be a great companion. Lovot is also easier to have when finding an apartment!

Those Lovots are beyond adorable 🥰🥰 if they ever reach the European market, I'll definitely purchase one, for I cannot keep pets myself for several reasons, and yet I'm still longing for some sort of life-like company that I can express myself to ☺ plus, unlike most pets, Lovot are very likely pretty low-maintenance, so cleaning will very likely stay the same as how I currently live (solitarily).

As a kid I would have absolutely loved one of these 😍 the technology behind it is so amazing! I do think that these would be great for an elderly person. Let’s say someone is at an age where they cannot care for an animal properly (but they love animals), they could provide so much comfort and company! It is kind of sad that there is a demand for an AI like this, but it could really help someone. Loved this video Kelly ❤️
Something also kind of weird, I didn’t notice the sensor horn until you touched it. I focused on their eyes so I was like whoa where did that come from haha!!

I find this sad, especially when the users are young people. It would be wonderful to keep track of people suffering from dementia or Alzheimer’s.

Linklex7 I’m in agreement with you. When I say sad I’m being sympathetic because many of the people who rely on a relationship with a robot are young. The relationship is purely for emotional purposes. So many young people seem lost nowadays.
The robots could be used for psychological and medical purposes with the older folks. They would made a wonderful tool to collect data to advance studies related to mental aging.
What’s sad about it? Young people like myself simply find a better investment of time bathing in valuable information that the internet has to offer, compared to just cold-talk so called “discussions” that is nothing more than people talking about themself’s and life situation that no one gives a crap about anyways.

A side benefit for older people that live alone -- Functionality could be put in place where a given Lovot could contact a family member wirelessly if their chosen human was not seen or interacted with them after a set time. Sort of a "Please come check on " or even let a neighbor know to visit.

THAT'S SO COOL!!!! We really live in the future. I love tech, and stuff like this always excites me. I'd really consider getting something like this since I live in Los Angeles and the majority of the apartments here are not pet friendly. Plus given my work schedule and career priorities I know I'm not at the best place to be a good dog dad right now. This is seriously so cool!
Keep up the great work with this channel and your life in Japan. You're inspiring and you're really helping me to not give up on my dream of moving to/working in Japan one day. ... has potential to assist and help mentally and emotionally healthy people but as for those who already have social anxieties and don’t want to try to help themselves... this will make it worse. Technology also makes people feel more lonely because they feel they don’t need to socialize even though they want to socialize

Agreed, Japan keeps trying to come up with thesestrange stop gap solutions when they should be getting down to the root cause of this lonelyness. Shut ins and incels are catered to instead of understood and helped. It's a sad state of affairs

At first it may seem weird or not for good. But it is no difference than the lonely person watching ours of movies on TV or a person trying to find interaction on line. I also wonder what societies and cultures this would be accepted. Japan probably yes as you said at the first of the video. I can see potential for abuse in many ways. Bottom line is it healthy? Does it create dependency? What are the unintended problems this could create? Lots of questions. I've heard of technology that helped and taught people how to interact with others. But that technology was a way of teaching and an intermediate solution, not a permanent fix. Great video.

I think if this were promoted as to combat loneliness it would put people off. There's still a stigma around feeling lonely and admitting to it, so I'd personally be worried I'd look desperate buying one, which could add to feelings of withdrawal and loneliness.
@YoshiPeach Mario my point is more if it is advertised as for loneliness then everyone knows it is for loneliness, but if it is advertised as a robot pet it's not as taboo
@@rhianl6026 But that’s your problem. Plenty of people are comfortable admitting the reality that they feel lonely sometimes , and that a little robot like this would be cool and fun to have around! If your own personal embarrassment at how it’s marketed would stop you from buying it, you’re only limiting yourself.

They're so cute but I'll be adopting two pets once we move!
I don't think this would help me with loneliness at all because I'd be aware at all times that it's a machine and not a living being. As a pet owner, a robot just cannot compare. The way I see it, it might be 'cute' to have for a week or so, but after a while its novelty would fade away and it would just be a useless piece of plastic.
I think this is more meant for older people that don't have the mental ability to care for a pet or can't remember to feed another living creature. This way, you don't have to worry about the pet dying or something horrible happening.
I would for my 87 year old mother.

I think this is great for people who live alone :) To me this is a next level stuffed toy. Because i know it's not comparable to a living pet. But a toy that is a bit more interactive and make u feel less alone.

Well, we've done it. We've created new lifeforms to worship us and crave our attention. Next, one of the Lovots will murder the other in jealous rage, and we will have to kick the other one out to wander the Earth forever. It is fated.
Boston Dynamics Cheetah or Big-Dog pneumatic leg walking behaviour could create very realistic movement for your robot pet, and it would be even able to get up on it´s own when it falls over sometimes. With this technology more interesting movement of this robot would be possible.
