I Remember this this ,my Mother told me if I had finished my home work I could stay up to watch the show. The next morning all the kids on the school bus were singing the song over and over again. The good old days, All the best Tony love to the Wife hope she has fully recovered x
Better late than never! Andy Stewart and his family lived not far from my family home in Glasgow at that time - early 1960's. They lived in a Big House. The children were young at the time. However, his son, Ewan, became (and still is) an actor of some note. Inter alia, he played First Officer Murdoch in the 1997 film 'Titanic'.
Hey Squirrel, as I live in N/E England growing up in the `60`s, Andy was a regular watch at hogmanay. I remember him & Moira Anderson singing on the show. That was the only times I saw either of them. That was a young Bruce Forsyth introducing him, it may have been at the London Palladium Theatre.
When I was a kid in primary school in the late 50s early 60s there was a Scots lad in my class. 3 or 4 times a year his parents would send him to school in the traditional Scottish dress and he would tour all the classes singing 3 or 4 songs, one of which was Donald Where's Your Troosers. I haven't heard the song for over 60 years but when Andy Stewart started singing I realised I still remembered every single word of the song.😅😅 Ps, my dad was from Aberdeen so I am half Scottish, I never volunteered to join in though 😉
This kind of Scottish singing was very popular in the 50s and 60s. Even in my Manchester Junior school we used to sing Scotfish songs ...... then of course there was all the Hogmaney stuff at New Years in which Andy Stewart featured regularly. More than 60 years ago now but I remember Marie's Wedding, My Bonnie Lies Over The Ocean, You Take the High Road and of course this song !
I've done it, this comment made me go back and find it to give you the link and low and behold it's been blocked after gaining 5,000 views. I'll download it from youtube and load it for free for all to patreon. I'll post a link on the community tab when I do. Thank you for mentioning that I'd have not realized they blocked it.

Andy Stewart had his own show on the BBC in the 1960s called "The White Heather Club" His biggest international hit was "A Scottish Soldier".
Thank you, I've been wracking my brain trying to think of the name for the show without Googling it.
Never seen wor Brucie (Bruce Forsyth) looking so young! I enjoyed this video so much, absolutely impossible not to sing along. Cheers Squirrel mate!

Andy Stewart was a very talented man.
He made many a New Year/ Hogmanay happy with his familiar lilt and kilt.
Love a story in a song, made my day. Weeks shown yet made me laugh. Thank you for sharing this ❤

I think everybody's mother or father sang this to their kids. Mine did and I sang it to mine.

Now you've played this, you should follow up with Lord Rockingham's Eleven, with 'Hoots Mon' (there's a moose loose aboot this hoose)!! 😃
His son was in the Titanic movie with Leo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.
Had his own Scottish dancing programme from Grampian tv...
The White Heather Club! 😃
That an entertaining guy in a kilt ❤😂🐿️
Hmm, 1961. I think my mother was probably still enforcing early bed-times. I knew the song, but it must have been from the radio.
A Scottish Soldier is another you should check out by Andy Stewart.
The original 'singing shortbread tin'!! 🤣
Given the date of this recording, Is this the first ever Elvis impression?
I remember this from the 60swhen I imagined we were one united kingdom lol
If you like a good Scottish song, how about The Welly Song by Billy Connolly?

I've always thought that this should be Donald Trumps official campaign song. Especially when it comes to Stormy Daniels.
