As a kid growing up in the 90s im not an Italian by all means. But every family party we had baked ziti was always a mainstay at parties. Its my favorite dish to eat on my birthday. My birthday is tomorrow that's what I'm having for dinner. Italian food is pretty much my go to.

My girls are Italian and Sicilian from their daddy's side. I grew up with potatoes, beans, carrots and wild game in Wyoming. I learned how to cook, by watching channels like yours! I make lasagna now, with a bechamel sauce. I have learned to make my own Italian sausage with fennel
That’s almost the exact same way I make my baked ziti. I was born on Long Island NY and lived there for 28 years before relocating. Must be in the blood. I’ve always made mine with sliced Italian sausage. I never would have thought of using meatballs. Looks delicious and will definitely try this in my recipe. Thank you.

Would loved to have been able to serve this up for my mom and dad. Can't wait to get my mom's sauce recipe back to try this when I get out of physical rehab and back into a new home.
Stumbled across you channel looking up how to make braciole yesterday. I’m hooked on your channel. This is exactly how I was brought up on food with an Italian mom growing up on Long Island.

Brooklyn LazanYaZiti. You are absolutely right to ALWAYS use good quality ingredients. I used to live across the street from an family owned Italian grocery store in Buffalo NY - Guercio's. They sold only imported Italian & other European foods. They never disappointed Me. When I cooked Italian meals with ingredients bought from them, a HUGE difference in taste as opposed to ingredients from an ordinary supermarket. Sadly, as of late the store's family owners of 6 brothers & sister are aging, retiring, dying & the imports are not as much due to 19CONvid. I hope their children & grandchildren (adults) keep up with the pace as their elders did., when things get back on track.
Not too many of the Italian grocery stores anymore. But, there are major grocery store chains beginning to open a more high quality grocery stores like central market and Fresh
@@BrooklynBrothersCooking You're correct about the minimal amount of Italian grocery stores remaining. The store I wrote about here in Buffalo NY is the only one of its type who sells imports. People come from far & wide to purchase retail & wholesale.
