    "Everyone is leaving" is such a misleading and dishonest way of introducing -- at most -- periodic and episodic demographic changes. "Everyone is leaving" is a sloppy if sensational way to refer to what is more like a small or temporary net outflow of maybe a couple thousand residents in cities with populations in the many hundreds of thousands or even maybe in the millions.

    • @Curious-World-io
      @Curious-World-io  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the topic. You bring up an important point about the need for accuracy and context when discussing demographic trends. I agree that using blanket statements like "everyone is leaving" can oversimplify complex situations. My intention was to highlight significant shifts in population dynamics, but I understand the importance of providing more nuanced information. I'll keep your feedback in mind for future discussions on this subject. I am always happy to recieve constructive feedback.

    People are leaving, but the cost of living goes up! How does this work? Should this not result in cheaper housing & rentals?

    • @Curious-World-io
      @Curious-World-io  20 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Great point. It might seem counterintuitive that as people leave a city, the cost of living continues to rise. Several factors can contribute to this. Increased demand for housing from those who remain, limited availability of affordable housing options, and other economic factors can all play a role in driving up housing prices and rentals, even as population decreases. It's a complex issue with various contributing factors. Thanks for bringing up this aspect of the discussion!

    I suggest you do some historical research. In 1790 the 10 largest U.S. cities were New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Charleston, Baltimore, North Liberty, Salem, Newport, Providence, Marblehead. In 1890 the largest were New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Brooklyn, St. Louis, Boston, Baltimore, San Francisco, Cincinnati, Cleveland. In 1990 the largest were New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Philadelphia, San Diego, Detroit, Dallas, Phoenix, San Antonio. Today they are New York, Los Angeles, Houston, Phoenix, Philadelphia, San Antonio, San Diego, Dallas, San Jose. Moving is something Americans have always done Cities rise and cities fall. It is historically proven to be inevitable.

      @Curious-World-io  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for sharing this historical perspective on the evolution of American cities. You've highlighted a fundamental aspect of urban development-cities rise and fall over time, driven by various factors including economic shifts, demographic changes, and cultural trends. Indeed, the movement of people within and between cities is a longstanding phenomenon deeply rooted in American history. Recognizing these historical patterns helps us better understand contemporary trends in urban migration. Your insights add valuable context to the discussion, and I appreciate you taking the time to share them.

    You lost all credibility when you showed videos of Chicago while telling us why "everybody is leaving" Minneapolis. That's just plain sloppy. And for the record, Chicago had a population increase from 2010 to 2020, is on track for a 3rd year of declining violent crime rates (except for carjackings which are on the rise nationally), and has been cited #1 for the last 7 or 8 years by Site Selection Magazine for corporate relocations TO and expansions IN the city (just last year, Kellogg renamed itself Kellanova and relocated from Battle Creek MI to Chicago, and GE Healthcare was spun off from GE and HQ'd in Chicago - both are $12+ billion sales Fortune 500 companies). Also, you need to tone down the sensationalist rhetoric, like "Cities in America that Everyone is Leaving in 2024."

    • @Curious-World-io
      @Curious-World-io  18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I appreciate your feedback. Thank you for pointing out the footage misalignment; I will certainly review the editing process. Regarding Chicago's population decline, it's indeed a topic with conflicting information. However, it's pretty well documented that Chicago's population is declining at a steady rate, currently at 1.43% annually. Here's just one of the many sources: [worldpopulationreview.com/us-cities/chicago-il-population].
      Violent crime rates are up for Chicago, which is well documented by the Police. It is pretty clear that Chicago has a crime issue. With a crime rate of 37 per one thousand residents, Chicago has one of the highest crime rates in America compared to all communities of all sizes - from the smallest towns to the very largest cities. One's chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime here is one in 27. Within Illinois, more than 97% of the communities have a lower crime rate than Chicago.
      Overall, this list is subjective and covers a complex topic with various factors. I appreciate your engagement and perspective on this matter. Thanks again for your comment.
