Shock strut on AUDI A1 Hatchback (8X1, 8XK) (05.2010-...) / SEAT Ibiza IV Hatchback (6J5, 6P1) (03.2008-...) / SEAT Toledo IV Hatchback (KG3) (07.2012-...) / VW Polo V Hatchback (6R1, 6C1) (03.2009-...) / SKODA Fabia III Hatchback (NJ3) (08.2014-...) cars should be replaced, as a rule, according to one and the same procedure.
However, there can be slight differences due to specific features of the vehicle design.

If any DIYer attempts this it is completely possible to change the shock strut without removing the driveshaft from the hub.

Thanks for your positive comment! Stay with us!
there are different tightening torques in the workshop manual
This confirms why I should pay a professional to do the work!
Undoing bolts . Weak man excuse
How tight are you supposed to do the shocks at the top?
You can see this information at 4:51 and 8:02 minutes in the video.
2:00 #36 = 36mm??
Does anyone know the part code for the shock absorber socket
Thanks for your feedback!
Please clarify your question what kind of connector are you talking about?.
Or please specify the time of the fragment in the video.
Good 👍👍👍
nice
Where can i buy that spring compressor machine
Hello! You can select and purchase a tool for compressing springs via the link here: www.autodoc.co.uk/spares-search?keyword=Coil+Spring+Compressor
Unfortunately it's not clear what socket is used to open the shock absorber clamp
It’s a shock absorber socket, easy to find on eBay etc… it’s a spreader to make easier to remove the base of the shock from its ‘holder’.
IS IT ADVISABLE TO SHANGE A SINGLE SHOCK ABSORBER
Shock absorbers are recommended to be replaced in pairs and not individually.
this guy does not know how to use a torque wrench. Seen it in multiple videos now. STOP AT THE CLICK FFS
of course its so simple..try it on a 10 year old polo thats been driven regular and rusty nuts and bolts.....all of a sudden its a 2 day job for a diyer
We cannot show all the nuances and problems when replacing them, this is all individual and it is not always possible to solve them at home. To avoid this, we always recommend that replacements be made at specialized services.
AUTODOC
@@autodocuk yeah.at specialised prices no doubt..hence a diyer
@@johndavison5989 hahaha damn right and even then I leave the shop nervous about whether they did the job right or not
Where are you based
We are based in Germany, in Berlin.
Please find this information on our website: www.autodoc.co.uk/services/company
Why did you remove the entire upright/brake assembly? There is no need to do this, it can all stay attached to the lower arm.
The entire strut/brake assembly was removed for easier shock absorber replacement.
@@autodocuk Fair enough, though I just did this on my Polo 1.8 GTi and the strut can be removed just by compressing the spring a little.

You should mention in the title the other cars it applies to such as Skoda Fabia MK2, Seat Ibiza MK4 or some Audi A1 MK1
Thank you for the valuable clarification.
We will take this into account in the following videos.

@@autodocuk Hi, I put up a question 3 weeks ago but no response. Can you please check?
@@davidmosaku and also Fabia MK3 (probably Fabia MK1 too)
Yep, this video is a life saver, couldn't find anything like this on a facelift MK2 Fabia as that doesn't use a 3 nut strut top mount. I'm so glad I found this video
The subtitles are not working 👎👎
Me thinking I can fix my car myself... watch this video.... nope dont have that or that.... and what the hell is that bit.
Thank you for contacting us.
Please could you clarify what exactly you didn't like and we will be able to fix this in our future videos.

@@autodocuk no i liked the video. Was refering to my car issues and my lack of knowledge on part names
@@anap7830 A proper list of tools, in text, would have been handy to cut and paste into Google etc
5.00 to 5.05 BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is not correct! the mount should be bolted in on top of the bearing and NOT pushed down loose! Ive just had to redo the job due to this MISLEADING video!!!
Thanks for the clarification, your comment will be useful to many of our viewers.
There are a few questionable things in this video, spraying WD40 towards the brake discs for example while lubricating the ball joint bolts
What do you mean? The rubber mount needs to go under the nut?
@@helishskills put the spring onto the shock absorber, then put the round metal plate on, then the little donut bearing, then the chunky strut mount, then the bolt, that's the correct way, in this video they put the bolt on THEN the chunky strut mount, that is wrong
@@martinblackbird543 great thank you 🙏
