The only problem compared to the EV9 is that the big battery in this car won't be on sale this year and the EV9 is already on the road. So it's a bit odd to compare the price and real-world range of the Kia with the theoretical claims for this Peugeot.
@@ferrariforever1 No, WLTP test conditions can vary because there is no one central authority responsible for verifying these tests (such as the EPA in the US). Therefore, some car makers are cherry-picking a car configuration for the test that will not be on sale in all markets, or it will be a time-limited offer for only the initial few months of sales. So a majority of potential customers will not be able to buy it. In the case of this car, Peugeot is trying to sell that it will have the same consumption (15-16 kWh/100 km, a figure from independent tests) as their e3008, which is a smaller, lighter and more aerodynamic car.

Well... It's nice that you talk about WLTP, but when I wrote the original post there were already independent tests of the e3008 with a smaller battery and they had 15-16kWh/100km depending on driving style. Even if we wrongly assume that the e3008 version with the larger battery will have similar efficiency to the small one, the car will do about 650km in good weather, not 720km from WLTP. Don't you also see the paradox in your reaction? The larger battery has 98 kWh, but if you try the basic math (660/100)*17.8)=117.48 kWh and (660/100)*18.7=123.42 kWh or vice versa (98/18.7)*100=524km and (98/17.8)*100=550.5km. So what's your point? Even according to their own consumption figures, the car cannot travel 660 km in combined use.
@@Dqtubeyou said in your original post that "it's odd to compare EV9 with the unreleased e-5008". My point is that the wltp test has the same test parameters (acceleration rate, braking rate, top speed) applied to all EVs, so you can compared their wltp values. Add another potential electric seven-seater buyer who is bemused by manufacturers’ abandonment of three equal second-row seats. These cars do have the width for three equal seats and three ISOFIX, as our trusty Grand Scenic demonstrates, and after a decade of owning it, we still haven’t found an alternative that isn’t a minibus, and so we are sticking with it for our own sanity until either we no longer have three children living at home (whom we have to get from place to place with the minimum of fighting over seat space) or it has a serious mechanical failure!

Really wish these journalists would slate the manufacturers for their pricing rather than being fairly middle ground and ensuring they get invited to more launches. Anything starting with a 4 is far too expensive for any Peugeot
Buying one of these financially would be madness. Secondhand value of these will plummet. How many families actually require a 7 seat vehicle out there ?
I have the 5008 2020 mine is better then this new shape as they stupidly took away the independence back seats I was just going to reorder a new one but just been told smaller back seats!! How are these family cars when cannot fit 3 car seats, do car industry not realise kids have to stay in car seats for some time and for them to work properly they cannot be touching so in a accident they work how should do, surely if laws in car seats then surely all family cars should have full size independent back seats 🤷🏻♀️ I’m baffled as as a mum of more then 2 kids in car seats needs a big sized family car yet the car seats don’t fit in any big family car as dinky pointless seats
Why are car interiors always so dark? I always try to get cream coloured interiors as they feel less claustrophobic. Space in this one is good. Also I don’t like these panoramic displays. I’d prefer the large tablet style and a mouse pad hand rest really.
Disappointing that the reviewer in one fell swoop decided that the custom packs available were not adding any discernible value, and so didn't bother telling us what they were. Surely that's for the prospective buyers to decide?
The e-5008 100kwh FWD basically has only one 7 seater EV competitor at the moment: the Kia EV9 RWD. 60k vs 67k euro 100 kWh vs 100 kWh 660km wltp vs 563km 2300kg vs 2501kg 4,79m length vs 5,01m No one pedal drive vs one pedal drive no LFP battery vs no LFP battery Feature wise and space wise I think the EV9 is a better deal, but the e-5008 has a significantly larger wltp range. Really a shame that it does not have the one pedal drive.
The WLTP range of this car is nonsense. A car of this shape and weight will be really happy if it consumes 17-18 kWh/100 km in good weather. The much smaller 3008 with a small battery(73kWh) is 15-16 kWh/100km with two people on board.
@@eRedBlue- I'm aware of the EQB, but it's more a 5+2 seater, and not a proper EV platform. The efficiency / range is quite good, mostly because of the relatively low weight. There’s also plenty of subsections like the crossover SUV but it’s story for another day.
@@dcvariousvids8082it is not a given that you need to replace all 4 tyres at once, that depends upon a number of factors. The old one looks better imo
Hate those alloys also
The front grill copied peugeot's China joint partner's original design Chang'an UNI-K.
it's a Mitsubishi Outlander contender
A friend of mine changed his Outlander into a 2nd gen 5008 because of the 3 individual seats in the back, his kids are 14+
What a car ❤
IM gonnas get this bad boy
Wait 6 months the price will be dropped by half 😂😂😂
Really wish these journalists would slate the manufacturers for their pricing rather than being fairly middle ground and ensuring they get invited to more launches. Anything starting with a 4 is far too expensive for any Peugeot
That is MPV!! Renault please look at it and repair new Scenic! :-)
Buying one of these financially would be madness. Secondhand value of these will plummet. How many families actually require a 7 seat vehicle out there ?
Enough to sell quite a lot. The old 5008 did very well. Some will buy just for a huge boot and rarely use all the seats.
Virtually no one will but these new - they will all be leased.
This or latest VW Sharan? Ignore fuel type
These screens that sit in front of you, on top of the dash!? What's that about. What's wrong with an instrument cowl?
Perfect
Why are car interiors always so dark? I always try to get cream coloured interiors as they feel less claustrophobic. Space in this one is good. Also I don’t like these panoramic displays. I’d prefer the large tablet style and a mouse pad hand rest really.
Disappointing that the reviewer in one fell swoop decided that the custom packs available were not adding any discernible value, and so didn't bother telling us what they were. Surely that's for the prospective buyers to decide?
The “haptic “ buttons on the steering wheel are truly pathetic.
The e-5008 100kwh FWD basically has only one 7 seater EV competitor at the moment: the Kia EV9 RWD.
60k vs 67k euro
100 kWh vs 100 kWh
660km wltp vs 563km
2300kg vs 2501kg
4,79m length vs 5,01m
No one pedal drive vs one pedal drive
no LFP battery vs no LFP battery
Feature wise and space wise I think the EV9 is a better deal, but the e-5008 has a significantly larger wltp range. Really a shame that it does not have the one pedal drive.
The WLTP range of this car is nonsense. A car of this shape and weight will be really happy if it consumes 17-18 kWh/100 km in good weather. The much smaller 3008 with a small battery(73kWh) is 15-16 kWh/100km with two people on board.
peugeot 5008 = 48 k £
Kia E9 = 65 k £
The difference of price is a huge
@@stephen10. I'm comparing the 100 kWh version of both cars. The e-5008 100 kWh is about 60k euro.
You forget the EQB with seven 7 63k for 250+ AMG Line with all options. 520 wltp and 4.69m lenght. 70.5 kwh battery
@@eRedBlue- I'm aware of the EQB, but it's more a 5+2 seater, and not a proper EV platform. The efficiency / range is quite good, mostly because of the relatively low weight. There is now a limited edition that starts at 46k euro! Unfortunately the EQB does not have one pedal drive, nor LFP battery. Its technology is quite ancient.
I'd buy this as an AWD 200ps turbo diesel instead of the VW Tiguan Allspace
I like peugeot cars, but I have seen the BYD TANG and I was impressed by the Chinese design and quality.
@2.20.......looks like some blonde was having fun in the boot.......dog+dark carpet=vacuuming forever
What´s the use of a SUV without 4x4 capabilities?
Now everyone needs AWD. And not everyone wants to have to change all four tyres at the same time. Mind, if you can afford £50k as base spec., you can afford £500-£600 for tyres change.
It’s the new version of minivan/ hatchback
I take it you’ve just woked up from a 15 year coma to 2024. I hate to be the one to brake it to you but they havent made MPVs for years and years. Everyone has moved on to these non off-road SUVs and crossover-SUVs. It seems to be because they like the design, higher driving position and ground clearance.
Now I know it’s confusing but the term SUV is a very loose one. Nowadays it mostly refers to road going cars with elements from off-road cars. There’s also plenty of subsections like the crossover SUV but it’s story for another day.
@@dcvariousvids8082it is not a given that you need to replace all 4 tyres at once, that depends upon a number of factors. Tyres rarely wear evenly so you often end up with a natural imbalance between axles in any case as most cannot be bothered to rotate tyres. I always replace tyres in pairs though unless I am unlucky enough to get a puncture on an almost new tyre.
@@dcvariousvids8082Isn’t that’s to reduce wear on the centre diff on an ICE car? With separate front and rear motors I can’t see any need to replace all 4 tyres at the same time.
🤢. Still with the smallest steering wheel that somehow manages to block the entire screen. Its like a peugeot magic trick.
The only big downside of this car is that it is electric :(
Nice review - a shame the 5008 EV isn't more sporty in looks and ride.
The drop in price compared to a KIA EV9 is welcome, but this is still far too expensive. I'm waiting for a chinese manufacturer to launch an equally well designed (or better?) 7 seater EV that significantly undercuts this on price. Surely its just a matter of time?
Not for me..
Peugeot are hardly cheap!
No.
The previous model was a million times better and more beautiful than this Chinese car, as ugly as hunger.. 🤣🤣🤣
A lot of people realise the mistake of going EV that’s why they’re not selling .
😂😂😂
Au contraire! After 35 years of driving fossil burners I switched to EVs 10 years ago. Best thing I ever did.
@@fyank1 you’ve yet to realise your mistake . People are not buying EV cars and manufacturers are cutting production drastically.
@@ColinGarner-h1tI don’t think so fella but if you know best carry on paying through the nose. I will carry on enjoying my cheap motoring.
@@fyank1 you are so wrong , why is nobody buying electric cars if you’re so right . Depreciation in the first year alone is around 50 % . You keep believing you’re right .😂😂😂😂😂😂
all that anoying keyword stuffing finally worked. unsubscribed.
Those wheels are terrible.
Silly car. Like all EVs. All of them are a waste of money.
Endless crawling around in the car and flipping over snd sliding seats over and over again!😖🥱
