    Artists like Doja cat and cardi b are examples why artists need media training cuz how you supposed to be making music yet always going back and fourth with your fans online

    celebrities are too accessible to us now. we used to have to pay to get a glimpse into their lives or catch them on cribs. Now we're bombarded by their thoughts all day. also being a 'star' is too accessible, one viral video, song and you're considered famous.

      I miss those states too I'm almost 36 and I remember growing up and then 90s and early 2000s where are our favorite singers rappers and other forms of entertainment weren't so accessible but that's what made them more appealing to be honest yes social media did help in certain aspects but I think for some artists it ruined their careers not for nothing I'm following some newer artists now that are following the old formula Some of the newer artists I follow are independent and not backed by a major label but yet I don't see them getting into any drama or any craziness with their fans online I think Or as we all said before we need more media training for these artists because this is getting way out of hand

      I agree, I’m hoping they’ll be a renaissance era for mainstream music but knowing how history repeats itself it probably will happen. I remember this comment from another video that said the 2020s mainstream music is just going back to the way it used to be in the 60s where songs were usually only 2 or 3 minutes and almost everyone just sounded and looked the same. So I’m guessing once the 2030s happen it’s going to be like how the 70s were

    This is why I try and make it to every Janet and Beyoncé tour. Someone new will come with everything that is missing. Maybe they are independent with a couple hundred followers. But people won’t give them the time of day because of it. The algorithm doesn’t promote uniqueness.

    Record labels don’t invest anymore. Furthermore, they want ppl they can easily control. You can’t control the superstars that thier fans grew up with them and loved since they were kids. Record labels mentality is, there’s always another you. Which is why so many make copy cat songs of each other. Like with the “vibey” type of music.
    Also, ppl do want access so where as Beyoncé can be private, not go live on IG newer celebs HAVE TO. so it changes that. Mariah, Whitney, Beyoncé carried mystery that isn’t afforded today.

    I normally don't comment but this video spoke so much truth to me, people confuse entertainers with talent being able to entertain people is a skill and you're definitely born with it they could spend millions on production and costumes and still be a boring stale performer ex: Taylor Swift and that's just truth the only reason she's pushed so heavy is because of that sk!n. because we have to work twice as hard for half of the success
    the fact that someone even compared her to the legendary Michael Jackson is just astounding and outright disrespectful because he is known by multiple generations and nations and put in HARD work

    • @Sthuthukile
      @Sthuthukile ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree that it's a skill but I disagree that you're born with it, you have to develop and refine it overtime. It takes a lot of hard work, even if you're a natural entertainer... It takes sacrifice and constant reinvention. But everyone takes that for granted.

    • @milaakajau861
      @milaakajau861 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@Sthuthukile Going to have to respectfully disagree, yes it takes hard work and developing but that is something you were already born with and just sharpened it, you can't teach someone who isn't a singer how to sing no matter how much training and practice they do, it may make them sound better and sing a little on key but it doesn't make them a good singer. Many artists have tried reinventing themselves and still don't have IT.
      having IT is exactly what she stated in the video which means your aura and something you're born with and a mystery to yourself that fascinates people. It's not only about the musical talent which went over a lot of people's head, there are millions of people who can sing and dance like okay and what else do you have?

    • @txwtw
      @txwtw 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Exactly, comparing her to THE Michael Jackson is absolutely insulting, Taylor will never be the next MJ. Taylor has made no impact or mark on the music industry whatsoever, she hasn’t evolved the sound of music and when she dies I highly doubt her music will be remembered for generations to come. If she wasn’t conventionally “pretty” or whatever nobody would give a flying darn about that woman. I doubt she even appreciates her fans and others comparing her to Michael Flipping Jackson. She’s only successful because of her easily marketable flavourless bland mediocre at best repeated chord progression music and her looks.

    • @SR-zv5ue
      @SR-zv5ue 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@txwtw I strongly dislike her as an artist but she is breaking records left right and centre. Her digestible lyrics and relatebilty to middle white america has transcended the whole world at this point. Her current album is projected to sell 3 million in its first week and at this point she is 20 years into her career with no end in sight of slowing down. She has cultivated a huge fanbase and yes has surpassed Michael Jackon and the Beatles in some ways. And she brought back the popstar that's known for songwriting. Because of artists like her songwriting is now being promoted as a heavy part of an artist being big again. That wasn't really the case in the 90s and 00s. She already has inspired the new generation like Olivia Rodrigo, Billie EIllish, Sabrina Carpenter. Like I said she doesn't really have the talent but she is more of an Elton John than MJ but has surpassed MJ by going the songwriter route more so than the performer route.

    • @txwtw
      @txwtw 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@SR-zv5ue to say Taylor of all people has surpassed THE Beatles and Michael Jackson is ludicrous and honestly disrespectful to their hard work (not saying Taylor doesn’t put any effort or hard work but still.) like what another has said, Taylor and Michael Jackson shouldn’t even be in the same sentence. People need to stop comparing these artists to older musical legends. Taylor hasn’t done nearly half the things the Beatles have done for the music industry. But honest to god I’m not gonna argue with you on this anymore and I’m just gonna leave it with this comment.

    The era of superstars as we know it is gone. It's all about quick, underdeveloped, microwavable artists doing too much just for short term success. They don't know how to play the long game, or they're just not interested in it, which in turn makes them less interesting.

    In terms of mainstream music, I agree. Especially in regards to the media training and engaging in petty, unnecessary conflicts online. However, I think there are several artists with major star power that just aren’t getting the recognition they should be receiving. Coco Jones and Durand Bernarr are two artists who are highly charismatic, can sing their faces off and have delivered excellent live performances. Chloe has tons of potential as well, but I think she’s still trying to figure out who she is as an artist. She definitely has the raw talent, performance and work ethic.
    Overall, I think we should be looking at how modern society is consuming music as a reason for the lack of true “artists” instead of blaming it on a lack of talent, effort or charisma. It feels like great music from phenomenal artists largely goes unnoticed unless its viral on tiktok. Therein lies the bulk of the problem (imo)

      Durand is definitely one of those artist who commands the stage, is extremely talented and has IT. I’ve watched his tiny desk performance about 100 times lol it’s also because he comes from a musical family and respects and loves the art. I agree with you that artist that do have that it factor and talent are just not being pushed by the media , they’ll get some publicity here and there but they’re not pushed and supported as much as the mainstream artist we see and it’s in part how we consume music but it’s also who is being promoted. Consumers can’t support who they don’t know exists.
