Your commentary definitely shed some light on difficulty of some of these tricks. Thank you for that. You are right--it is a legendary feat and you are justified in calling it the greatest moment in gaming history.
The first two sections of ToD by themselves would probably take a seasoned Kaizo player hundreds of hours to beat. Absolutely unreal that a human managed to beat the entire level.
Greatest moment in gaming history, absolutely. The amount of skill in both design and execution, the massive dedication and just how high he set the bar for himself are mindboggling! A great moment in history, certainly. It is exemplary of what human beings are capable of if they push themselves to their limit. But one of the greatest moments in human history? I'm not sold on that. To me it lacks the sort of undeniable global influence that history's greatest moments should have. Then again, who am I to judge, I've never achieved anything like this and probably never will. Either way, much respect to chainchompbraden, he's undeniably made history with this one.
I'm not sold on greatest moment in gaming history. To me, that spot goes to "Triforce % Ocarina of Time" when they used arbitrary code execution to add in a bunch of custom content but then connect to Twitch LIVE within the game as it was being played. The most mind-blowing thing about it was how they managed to code internet access onto a machine not designed to be able to access the internet, then have it access specifically the live stream of the person playing the game so that Twitch chat could see themselves rendered IN REAL TIME on the N64 screen right as the guy was playing it. I'm also not sold on this being the hardest Mario level, as I'm pretty sure that award goes to the romhack "Item Abuse 3" which is intended to only be completable via TAS, because it's supposed to be literally impossible with almost everything required being frame perfect. That all being said, this is definitely the... Second hardest level on Mario Maker. Because the first hardest has got to be a blind attempt at that one Panga level he made where you have to guess an exact combination correctly in order to beat the level, and there's at least like a quadrillion different possible combinations, making it genuinely impossible to guess in many many lifetimes.
Amazing level, amazing performance! Also I really like this like documentary style video from you. Very cool! And I think you and WeSkill do a good job of boiling complex gaming stuff down into something anyone can understand.
As someone who logged thousands of hours into MM/MM2 I never ever thought I would see a lvl of this magnitude ever be beaten. My mind is blown 🤯 Congrats to Braden!
I agree, dude. I've watched you play for years, and to see someone else do this is pretty beautiful. You obviously couldn't spend all your time trying to clear one level, but I love that someone is always willing to show others what's possible. Thanks for your coverage on this.

This is the kind of thing that shows you exactly who you are as a person. I don’tlike giving up but if i played this for 2 hours I would go nuts. I don't have a wii u or MM1 but i would buy one just to burn out of frustration. It took him 7 YEARS to clear? If he wants to go around with a shirt that says "I do patience like the Dalai Lama" I'll believe it without question.
Funnily enough, the “Smashtastic” Amazing Feat from Wii Party U took even longer than this accomplishment where you must pass 1000 points in 1 button mashers game. I’m still amazed on this level btw.
This is WAY harder than that. This took a very good and talented Mario player almost 7 years while that took that guy a few weeks. No possible comparison.
In case you’re unaware, Nilly896 was the ONLY player who got the Smashtastic amazing feat globally, nearly 10 years later since Wii Party U’s Release. 1000 points on a 4 player button masher game is a lot!
