- Only makes the noise when car has been driven for awhile and the temperature is close to 250. The knocking is very obvious and can be heard even from 10-15 feet away. Cold starts are quickly without any noises or issues.
Checked all pulleys, they seem ok. Radiator fan moves a bit but not the culprit.
I’m stumped. Any ideas?
I had exactly the same knocking noise. Changed the torque converter and it was solved!
how much was the repair?
Sounds like serpentine belt tensioner wobble or wobble in the harmonic balancer. My girlfriends does the same.
sounds like a sunroof drain
The sound was louder when you went under the car. It sounds like it is coming from either your catalytic converter or the coolant pump.
I think that my f10 535i sounds similar, but I don't know what make that sound.
Check your torque converter bolts or get your transmission checked out. That was the source of the sound for me.
I have the same noise. Made a appointment today for checking the bolts. Thanks!
But for me sadly it turns out that it was a rod bearing. I'm getting another engine :/
@@CoolLame007Damm, that's not a cheap fix :(
Used engine around 4k USD
What was it? Sounds like mine on a N20. It increases with engine revs and only there when warmed up
same with my f21 135i, no clue..
Did u ever find out what it was?
@@csikidavid4431did u figure it out?
Sounds like a helicopter.
Did you have to replace torque converter? Or just tighten the bolts?
Have you fixed your issue? I have the same issue lol
?
@@garojohnbarsemian8792did u ever figure your problem out? I think I have the same noise going on please let me know thanks
@@abgpsycho9758I sold the car long ago but I tried tightening the torque converter bolts and it made it maybe 10% better. I know it’s hard but I would just try to get used to it as it doesn’t affect anything I’m pretty sure.
@@GaroBarsemianhow many miles did u have it for with this problem occurring? And there seriously wasn’t any issue with it even though it’s making the noise?
Is this a problem? Does it need to be fixed? What did u do to fix it please help just bought car and have this issue
Im having similar issue on a n20 motor also suspecting torque convertor very deceiving noise it echo's more from under the car then on engine bay similar to a mild knock but not a knock above 1000rpm it starts fading away its also very similar to vanos shaved bolt rattle on e90 6 cylinder motors
Does it fade away then come back?
did you find out what causes it?
Did u find out what it was
mine makes the exact same noise after the engine heats up. Did you ever find out what the issue was?
Any update on this? Mine the same
Any update? Mines doing similar when hot only. Mines a N20 and only noisy when above 1k rpm
Still no update? Either of y’all figure it out?
Mine makes a faint knock as well after it’s been warmed up. I was told it was injector noise but doesn’t make sense to me.
Any news?
harmonic balancer noise?
I have the same sound even cold start or warmed, I seen my drive belt tensioner moving very bad, do you think this will be the culprit? Or something else
Did u ever find out what it was? Desperate for answers
Rod knock?
no
@@Marq_Zz Hello, do you confirm it was torque converter ?
My X3 has exactly same noise. Was it from torque converter or transmission? Did you fix the prob?
Hello Wool do you fix the problem ?
What did it end up being
@@tiago_BMW did you fix the issue?
Sounds blown. I’d recommend selling it instantly and buy a N54 replacement
Yeah. Okay. So he has to replace everything but the engine and downgrade to an e90. 🤨
It wasn’t blown by the way. I recommend learning how to work on a car.
@@high_drivexxxLMAOOOOO
Sounds like rod knock 😳
That's not what rod knock sounds like. On that engine, rod knock sounds deceiving like top end rattle and around 2500 rpm in park or neutral.
