    Nice rolls! That soft sand is tough to recover from when you start going sideways.

    👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 champ!
    Try lower tire pressure, adjusting pad setup, maybe change the tire? Something, anything!

      Don't worry my friend, I've leveled up since the time of this footage.
      Now I can clip pedals and blast my wheel into chunky rocks at much higher speeds :)!

    You definitely need a couple of “Obstacles in pedal height” sensors 😂

    Found some sweet spots in the upper Midwest loved it! Close call at 1:21 going down close to water really gets the heart going 😆 🤣. Ever use a leash mod? Had some close calls myself, thinking about trying some out in spring.

      Not yet, for me it's like a cross-purpose thing. Riding the wheel is freeing, but then tethering yourself is the opposite. I'm probably overthinking it... haha.
      I just try to do the best I can and minimize elevation type trails for now. This footage was from when I was still in what I'd consider the learning phase, so I'd say I'm a little bit less wreck-prone now, but who am I kidding, they're still happening!

      @@vanturion ha ha love it man, Looking forward to part 2! Any plans to come back to minnesota or Wisconsin next year? Things are a bit frozen here at the moment lol.

      @@spartacus3570 I definitely want to, but no solid plans yet. I have such a skewed view now because every time I hit the trails throughout the mid-west starting in June last year it was perfect weather! Ridiculously skewed!
      That said, for trails on a wheel I feel like the upper mid-west is spoiled for choice. Not a lot of elevation and plenty of flow with minimal chop. It's fantastic. Definitely need to go back at some point!

    question: can you do more than 100 meters without falling? Your wheel has traveled more km rolling on the ground than moving forward with you on it. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 anyway, great stuntman!!

    I don’t think suspension would have prevented many of those falls.
    These are mostly low speed, it seems like you’re trying to test what kinds of obstacles you can go over.
    You can see the ruts and stumps right?

    • @vanturion
      @vanturion  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly right my friend. I was still in the learning phase here building up muscle memory on how to position stance and body to deal with obstacles in all these varied trails.
      Learning process takes time, and I got some fun footage in this process!

    On every crash, you don’t seem to be going very fast and I I think it goes to show off-road is more dangerous than simple on road…

    • @vanturion
      @vanturion  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lots of take-aways, but yes, unless you've somehow become "one with the machine", learning how to navigate trails will results in a lot of these types of pedal clips and falls in my experience.
      On the other hand, with the right gear and fitness, it's all manageable. I regret nothing!

    • @ZeLucAgain
      @ZeLucAgain 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Of course you will probably crash much more often in off road especially where there is sand, mud or stumps and rocks that can cause pedal clipping. It can be really challenging to navigate, and that, as well as the scenery, is part of the fun and the experience.
      But most of the time when you are on technical trails, you crash at moderate speeds unless you really like to push and go fast, and there are no other vehicles. So you definitely crash more off-road then on the road, but the soft ground, the moderate speed and the fact you can be equipped for frequent crashes also makes it sometimes "less dangerous". With roadcrashes and the potential high speed and ongoing traffic, even if you don't crash often, the crashes can cause much more damage to you and the wheel.

    • @vanturion
      @vanturion  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      100% with ya there. I've had comparatively few road wrecks, but in 2 out of 3 the results were much more consequential and damaging than what was shown here.

    U have to learn so much more...
    I don't know why u go for a fly by the most crashes u did ...
    On the video it looks very easy.
    But at least you try it.

      Haha, this footage was from early days before all of my other videos when I switched to the selfie stick! Can't wait to get to the new stuff as I'm currently dodging chunky desert trails at speed here in the greater Phoenix area. It's a fantastic workout on my non-suspension wheel!

    • @dirt.surfer

      @vanturion those places with the leaves pose a challenge can't see those pesky roots and stumps.

    • @vanturion
      @vanturion  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dirt.surfer for sure, and Big M in Manistee MI was the worst I'd been on like that yet. No trail maintenance and you just kinda had to guess where the trail was based on the position of the trees and other foliage. Can't dodge what you can't see, but kinda thrilling in a way though.
