Its actually good design to make a cheap and easy part the probable failure point. It sacrifices to save the more expensive parts. Obviously, this is not what you want for competition where finishing in the money is the name of the game. Weight is the enemy and strength is your friend, finding the sweet spot in that compromise is the trick.
I wasn't really thinking of failure modes in the design process so this result was more of a happy accident, but definitely good that it worked out this way considering the SHAD brick itself took me over 24-hrs to print.
@@BestFavorite ah gotchya. Coincidentally was only in the LA area for a day. Decided to head east to Phoenix for the winter instead of the original plan of San Diego.

Great idea! Now get some red colored Viscous grip tape for those foot plates!!
Would fit the theme, but here I'm riding on DIY spiked pedals with the grip tape removed which has worked out quite nicely.

I wish EUC makers would take seated riding into more serious consideration.
Agreed! Having never tried it prior to this mod I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it is to be able to sit down at speed on a comfy bike seat.
