Sean's vocals were one of the main reasons VIO-LENCE became such an important band to me.Had they had a Chuck Billy style vocalist they would have sounded like fellow Franciscans Defiance who were a fine band but never made it massive either.I think had Eternal Nightmare come out in 84-85 they would have had an extra springboard.
their late arrival definitely was the most significant part. had the scene's popularity last longer they wouldve had time to mature. at first they were a little too close to exodus and as they started developing they couldve gotten bigger but by the time that was the case thrash wasnt fashionable at all and robb went to make machine head and so on
DUDE WE MUST MEET. you understand, YOU GET IT. Killian is another level. He gets alot of that love or hate shit but i'm all for it. when you love it you fuckin love it.
Absolutely agree with Natejitsu. Sean's voice on EN was *amazing*...but I remember buying OtM the day it came out and immediately thinking...WTF???? I'm not sure if it was with his voice per se as much as was the way it was recorded. The effects they put on the vox on EN were much more flattering to Sean's talents than the flat recording he got on OtM. Hearing this song, it sounds better than OtM...but not as good as EN. He also harshed up a bit...It almost didn't sound like Sean at all.
If you guys havent heard of the Band Tourniquet please 🙏 for metal sake check them out psycho surgery album & pathogenic ocullar dissonance albums you wont be disappointed 😎👍👌
ah i messed up a lot of grammar in my reply, sorry but i think you get what i mean but i would like to add that THIS album Sean isn't even at his peak, he sounds more...controlled? not like EN where he's at his best-a raving lunatic
sean started getting it more here, but i always thought he was the weak link. if they had someone like chuck billy they wouldve probably been more popular
well i dont mean literally die, i mean they wouldntve been really a viable thing. financially. like i said no one wants to play for 10 people and work two jobs. i can understand the artistic merits of never changing, but there are artistic merits in changing as well.
no, because Vio-lence would've been turned into Machine head at that point popularity is good to a point, but too much and it goes to their heads and they play for money and not integrity. Seans vocals are perfect, sure someone sounding like Chuck Billy might've made them more popular but that doesn't mean it's any good, people who don't like Killian need to grow some balls
well i dont think anyone's dream of being a musician is playing to groups of 4 in their parent's basement. its not just about popularity, its about getting respect and influence and a reaction from people. artists do want some sort of reaction. if vio-lence had been as popular as metallica, do you think rob flynn wouldve made machine head?
well i dont think that its totally, um, "ball-less" to not like a particular singer. though i see what youre trying to say that somehow vio-lence wouldve been "poisoned" by popularity, i think what you fail to understand is that metallica set the tone of the scene and once they changed you had 2 options 1) change too or 2) not survive. rob chose #1 with machine head, vio-lence chose #2 with this type of record. i like them, but that was the reality of the times.
i respect your fandom to vio-lence but i think more people, including me, wouldve liked them better if they had a different kind of vocalist. i think they mightve broken into something bigger in the thrash history books if they had a different vocalist. do you disagree with that?
This album is quite poor,it has one or two decent songs but just does not compare to their classic gems of oppressing the masses or enternal nightmare.
Perry Strickland was a force to be reckoned with on the skins!
No thanks too crystal meth 😂

one of the finest thrash songs of all time. Classic, every riff is top notch and the solo is about as close to perfection as you can get
such underrated song and band
Wow amazing. The solo was beautiful.
Fuck me the drummer has some mad skills
why the fuck does everyone hate this album? ive finally listened to heard it but i dont hear anything but pure fucking thrash, vio-lence fucking rules
DAT RIFF

The last album with Robb and Phil, love this record!
I'm glad robb isn't there anymore,I Hate machine head and probably would have ruined their new ep with groove riffs
The lyrics almost sound like the plot of hobo with a shotgun.
lol
YEEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHH !!!!! BRILLIANT !!!!
DUDE WE MUST MEET. you understand, YOU GET IT. Killian is another level. He gets alot of that love or hate shit but i'm all for it. when you love it you fuckin love it.
even though they didn't like this record, it isn't even a bad. I enjoy this, even the situation they were in back in this time.
insane drums
WOOT!!!
Killer track!
@daniz123 There is still a lot of thrash today you just have to look for it.

Am I the only one that thinks this album has low quality recording
sean started getting it more here, but i always thought he was the weak link. if they had someone like chuck billy they wouldve probably been more popular
Debbie's awesome. ...she was like 60?
every one i know hates his voice, but i think hes bad ass. way better than joey screamlikeabitchbelladonna
Belladonna could actually sing

Machine are great but Vio-lence kicks ass!

Not exactly that great of an album... but this song is fuckin great
Machine head sucks. This kicks ass!

Actually liked this album better than torture tactics but not as good as oppressing the masses or eternal nightmare.
@rotteklo that and they left abano.. :\ and there guitarist and drummer and shit
tu no entiendes de vocal
Unfortunately this is the only good song on this record, they shot there load after EN and OTM
This album is quite poor,it has one or two decent songs but just does not compare to their classic gems of oppressing the masses or enternal nightmare.
This album kinda sucked...there was only 3 good songs on the album...
weak
Then why do you come here ?? Hater ! 🖕
