      If you're looking about that, as a local I suggest you: look out in advance for the room in which you want to live while studying there! Bologna University is quite renowed, and it is often hard to find rooms. Do not start the searching one/two month before you go, but before that! Better half a year from your departure!

    Great video! I'm afraid you missed one of the most moving groups of statues I have ever seen in my life: Bartolomeo dell'Arca's "Compianto di Cristo morto" ( = 'Lamentation on Dead Christ'), an incredibly expressive group of terracotta statues from the 15th century. If you come back to Bologna, don't forget to visit it, in the church of Santa Maria della Vita.

    Brilliant! I fell in love with Bologna the first time I went. So much that we stayed there for 10 days whilst doing some inter-railing to other cities. It’s by far our favourite city so far although we haven’t done Siena yet.
    Laughed out loud about the Aperol spritz. That’s exactly what my 23yr old son said when he first tried one. 😂

      Florence is sooooo full of tourists. It’s awful. Pisa is also nice. Small and full of beautiful museums.

      As someone has already said, the problem with Florence (and Venice too) is that they are so famous that the amount of tourists visiting can be overwhelming.

      @@katjaxxx7353 Just stay away from the tourist center and you will be fine. It's like coming to New York City and complaining about Times Square. Not only is Times Square the worst spot (filthy, gross, and crap restaurants), but you just venture out into other places and it's fine. For some reason, everyone thinks Florence consists of only the 3 blocks around the Duomo. Very bizarre.

    2:58 The dish "spaghetti bolognaise" is not found in Bologna. There the meat sauce is usually called simply "ragù". The sauce is served with tagliatelle rather than spaghetti, as you mention at 10:42. (Spaghetti (pl) are cylindrical and they are a dried pasta; tagliatelle (pl) are a fresh pasta made with egg and shaped like ribbons.) When the word is used in other contexts, the Italian spelling is "bolognese."

    • @magggione987
      @magggione987 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And ragù is very very difficult and time consuming to prepare and does not resemble the international dish called spaghetti alla bolognese (I'm bolognese native)

      Of course… Bologna is just a fraction of Rome and Milan (likewise many Italian cities, although Bologna is one of the biggest - capital city of Emilia Romagna region), but with 1,000 years of university you can imagine how deep its culture and friendly its people are. Nevertheless, it is famous for being a city on a human scale. It is wonderful to walk everywhere and its porticoes are very helpful (Unesco heritage). Abroad it's just famous for the food, but that's more a regional thing (for example: Parmigiano Reggiano), or even a national thing, with all the food spread out in the peninsula. It's such a lovely city and, by the way, the most gay-friendly on its scale.

    Pretty superficial,
    Bologna is 100 times better than this,
    Nothing about its churches , palaces, oratories, museums,
    Where is piazza santo stefano and the seven churches, where is san domwnico and michangelo,
    Nothing about the canals, the oldest university of europe..and even what you said about food...😥😥😭
    Burrata ? Are you serious ?
    Burrata is capania food ...

    I have just been here and it was covered in grafitti, dark and every road looked the same. The food was basic pasta ect so not worth the average €15. Overwhelming heat and few activities made it a boring spot. We stayed just outside the centre and there was anti tourist grafitti and signs with insults Infront of the hotel. All the roads were awful to cross, cars went through red lights, they were extremely overcrowded and dangerous and the police did nothing about it. I tried to buy painkillers and had a pharmacist be very rude to me, then offered paracetamol for ten euros. We went to buy food in the supermarkets and they were dingy and dirty and overpriced. Our coach leaving was delayed because of the roads and then took an hour to get out of the city.
