yes, it was poignant because the entire show was about people using other people, so he was yelling "I played your game, I used you, I know what your society is about!" (to Toranaga) At first I didn't understand the scene, now I do
He’s so wonderful and articulate. I admire him very much Edit: didn’t expect this many men to be offended over a basic statement lol. It’s so easy to make y’all upset when praising another man.. grow up
I'm a lifetime fan now. Cosmo among many other actors from Shogun majorly succeeded in putting a massive smile on my face every time they were on screen. The actor for Yabushige also absolutely killed it.
Loving the show & Cosmo & all the actors are crushing it. So good. How awesome is Cosmo’s voice for Blackthorne - perfect for a salty sailor I must say…
At first I thought he was very much like Tom Hardy. But Coamo brings his own qualities to the character. I also see a bit of Michael Palin in him when he had to cause a hysterical diversion to protect Toramaga in the royal palanquin. Brilliant and captivating actor for sure

I watched the original Shōgun as a teenager, and I have to say that Cosmo Jarvis added dimension to John Blackthorne. He gave Blackthorne a more appropriate naivete at how he was being used in Toranaga's planning that wasn't present in Richard Chamberlain's Blackthorne. Well done, Mr. Jarvis.
Anjin was a disturbance for Japanese and Cosmo got this part perfectly in his performance. Every scene with him felt like he was disturbing the ambience.

Yeah, he used the book well. For example: The way he walks, with the swagger of a sailor, comes directly from a description in the Original. He did well.
In the book the guy was disrespectful to Omi, as in he didn't bow properly to him and Omi immediately cuts his head off. He also proceeds to chop him into pieces in the book.. The book was very detailed in brutal death scenes.
