The televote might have been enough on its own, but most of the countries voting in this semi didn't join the contest until the 90s at least, so a lot of the charm of this would have been lost on them sadly.

I’m Danish and I was so ashamed that I didn’t even watch Eurovision this year. He is a comedian, not a singer and they are singing about having sex together just to practice. I don’t think they even expected to make it to Eurovision, it was kind of Denmark DOGE coin this year, the GENz’es loved them and that’s why it won in Denmark. I didn’t expect it to make to the finals, let’s hope for a better year next year.
Looking at the results now, the jury did not want Denmark in the final. They took 6th place according to viewers' votes, along with Greece. They were higher than Albania, San Marino or Serbia. The jury only gave 9 points which resulted Denmark in the 11th place in this semi-final.

Everything was perfect, your song, your voices, your joy, your dances... it was the sweetest performance of all year and not getting qualified in a semi-final like this is the biggest injustice of all. Given he's not a strong natural singer, he did an excellent job overall, and was careful to strike the right balance between energy and getting the vocal accurate.
I was just looking at their stats and they got points from every single country except Moldova in the semi. Which just goes to show that even though they sang in Danish and in a very specific genre that might not be very popular, they still struck chords all across Europe. I feel they would have done quite well in the televoting in the final with all the Nordic countries and Germany there to vote for them. I do hope they take it as a sign of encouragement to come back in the future with an even more polished song, the audience is there for them.
I love this song, it's 100% pure 80's and I'm so proud that Denmark sang in Danish again for the first time in over 20 years. I have never been so disappointed that we didn't qualify for the final. They have built quite the following since Eurovision. Their album debut at no1 in Denmark which is a big deal over there. Their winner in 2013 is a 1 hit wonder yet these guys are doing really well so it goes to show how well they could have done in the grand final

I think we might have lost some votes to the fact that Sweden and Norway were in the other semifinal, thus not watching this one. Almost all the balkan countries were in this one, of course voting for each other

I loved it even before the contest begun and didn't really expect anyone outside of scandinavia to enjoy this. After the show I am so happy to see it didn't miss the finals with a huge margin.

They now released the breakdown of jury vs televote. They did AMAZING with the people's vote. They got more votes than San Marino (with Flo Rida) and as many votes as Greece! It was the jury who screw them over and I am so mad. For clarification: they got 9 points from the jury and 80 from the people. They entry that qualified last got 74 with the jury and 38 from the people for comparison.
I didn’t care much for this first when it won here in Denmark, but seeing it today made me so happy and the reaction from the audience was priceless. It started a party of nostalgia. Was a sweet relief between all the bland pop songs and half naked women 😅
I’m happy Iceland, Portugal and Finland at least made it. That’s who I voted for this semi finale, among a few others who didn’t make it. But congrats to everyone in any case! 🌍
2020 and 2021 have been terrible years of misery, depression and pain and this song is literally the only thing that has given me back genuine joy during these tough times and I’m actually so upset that Europe couldn’t appreciate this pureness, happiness and wholesomeness because this year’s Eurovision lost its heart and soul last night and these two sunshines deserved better :(

Surely you can agree that sometimes we want to measure what the people want? Or do you also prefer countries to abolish democracy and be run by expert rule instead?
What is the point of selecting for songs that a few experts like? The point of songs and entertainment in general is exactly to give good feelings to *all* *people* , not just a few experts. Now, some people will feel more strongly about the songs than others, and each person can only vote once per song, and the people in smaller countries have more voting power, etc., so the televote does not perfectly capture the underlying popularity of a song, but clearly it does that much better than the jury vote.

I think we might have lost some votes to the fact that Sweden and Norway were in the other semifinal, thus not watching this one. Almost all the balkan countries were in this one, of course voting for each other

I loved it even before the contest begun and didn't really expect anyone outside of scandinavia to enjoy this. After the show I am so happy to see it didn't miss the finals with a huge margin.

They now released the breakdown of jury vs televote. They did AMAZING with the people's vote. They got more votes than San Marino (with Flo Rida) and as many votes as Greece! It was the jury who screw them over and I am so mad.
For clarification: they got 9 points from the jury and 80 from the people. They entry that qualified last got 74 with the jury and 38 from the people for comparison.
