Steve Young's final playoff game with the 49ers as he would retire after `the 1999 season. R.I.P Dan Reeves and Chris Doleman.

I thought he was going to be a Niner for life (at least until he retired in 06 or 07)

1:18:49 That's why I miss Matt Millen as an announcer. I miss people like him who was not afraid to get nasty on bad plays or bad officiating and tell it like it is. He and Dan Dierdorf. 49ers got two gifts, one the previous week and one this week. Not surprising that replay was brought back the following year.

To this day I don’t think Steve Young gets enough credit for carrying some of these late 90s 49er teams. There was a massive discrepancy in talent from their late 80s - early 90s teams. No Ronnie Lott, Charles Haley, Eric Wright, Roger Craig, John Taylor. Rice was on the downside of his career, T.O. Wasn’t T.O. yet and they had no running game outside of Garrison Hearst to go along with a painfully slow defense of aging players. They literally looked like an expansion team after Young retired

Good running game from J. Anderson and some playmakers on defense. Would be a 10-6 team in a normal year, but had some really bad Panthers, Saints, and Rams teams to feast on. Only tough matchups all year were SF (1-1) and NYJ (L) until the playoffs, one of the easiest schedules you'll ever see.
