Such a defensive game through out 3 quarters. Rice was on the spot on so many catches, 212 yards receiving and a TD, well deserving of MVP for the game. That 4th quarter is why Montana is legendary. Comeback King in the Super Bowl 🏆
I’ve been waiting for the highlights of this game to be uploaded for years. One of the great Super Bowls, and the pinnacle of Bill Walsh’s playcalling along with Montana’s clutchness.
My favorite Super Bowl!!! Thank you for putting the condensed version up. A lot of folks don't remember or talk about the 49ers losing their starting left tackle Steve Wallace early in the game. He was a good player.
Funny seeing folks online complaining about field maintenance if it's slightly unkempt. Back in these days squads just nutted up, and dealt with it. A lot of these stadiums had baseball infields too.
Joe Montana is always a pleasure to watch. One of the main reasons why Tom Brady gets directly compared to Montana is that in many ways they had a very similar temperament and demeanor on the field. Brady was clearly more demonstrative but when he was laser focused he just looked like modern Montana to me. Cincy fans have to hate the Niners as 2 of their 3 SB appearances saw a loss snatched from the jaws of victory. That last drive was incredible and the John Candy story lives on in SB lore.
You must be a Brady fan? No disrespect to your hero. Brady played in a watered down league. Brady knew he wouldn’t ever be hit hard or low. Brady knew defenses couldn’t fully blitz without the hesitation of a flag. Brady didn’t face head hunting defenses that could hit the QB hard. Brady got injured ONE time and the NFL changed the rules. Haha! Now you’re watching lil’ baby Patrick Mahomes benefit from the exact same BS. You cannot compare. If you want to then compare Brady to Mahomes, two big ass weasels who don’t even know why they wear a helmet and pads. Tony Romo says Mahomes is the Michael Jordan of the NFL. Jordan took harder hits in a tank top and shorts than Mahomes or Brady have ever taken out on a football field. Give Mahomes ten more seasons and the simp looking weirdo will surpass Brady in everything. Mahomes will have ten rings. Joe Montana was under constant pressure, took hard hits, almost had his career ended three times due to hard hits. Joe Montana is a real legend.
Would love to have seen how this game would have played out had Tim Krumrie not had his leg broken. Everything that Cincy defense did stemmed off from the play of Krumrie. HUGE loss for Cincys defense.

The Cincinnati Bengals will always wonder what could’ve been. Losing Stanley Wilson to a drug problem the night before the game, when they had a significant role for him, was a blow.

Kind of a weird game, the 49ers probably should have won decisively (they won the yardage battle 454-229), but the Bengals defense played well in the red zone and forced several field goal attempts, two of which were missed.
