  • knitting podcast episode 2! spring & summer knitting is clearly in full swing because i can not stop casting on new tank tops!!! an adjustable custom-fit tank, a sweet little cami, a scoop-back tank, plus one more little knitted beginner-friendly bag. definitely some feminine and balletcore vibes going on with these recent knits since i'm still obsessed with bows and ribbons 🎀 plus 2 of my current works-in-progress (spoilers.. it's more tank tops). we've got cotton yarn, wool yarn, and silk yarn plus a tinyyy bit of machine knitting with my sentro and my i-cord machine!

      @@starcrossedknits AGREED!!!!
      I went to paris today, and a young woman dressed in vintage style stared INTO MY SOUL. I was like: what is happening? Turns out we were the only 2 people wering a beret, and I think she was happy to see me but was trying to not be awkward. She was!

    Tank tops are your thingggg! They all suit you so well 😍 totally get what you mean about wanting to design just for creativity’s sake sometimes without the 373764 things you have to consider when making an actual pattern!

    • @starcrossedknits
      @starcrossedknits  ปีที่แล้ว

      yes exactly!! like it feels so freeing to just make a thing without worrying about how it'll all work out pattern-wise, i definitely think i'll need to give myself regular breaks like that to keep my heart happy lol

    The sweet nothings tank is gorgeous, and the ribbon detail is so cute. I’ve never used a provisional cast-on, but your thoughts on preferring the ability to see how well the garment fits from both ends makes so much sense.

      thank you!! Yes it's seriously the best, I think I'm gonna have a hard time making things without using that technique from now on!

    the cami is beautiful, i would definitely buy the pattern if you ever make one ❤ the scoop back tank is gorgeous, i like the first way to tie the straps the most, balletcore for sure, and the heart bag is also so cute, it seems like an easy and fun project 💌

      thank you so much!! i made a poll on instagram too and so far the first strap option is the winner there too

    love all the tanks!! currently knitting my first dress - self drafted and winging it as I go! also used a provisional cast on to knit up and down and it's the best. going to be doing my first double knitted straps so someone pray for me

    • @starcrossedknits
      @starcrossedknits  ปีที่แล้ว

      self drafted dress omg 🤩 and helllll yeah to the provisional cast on!! double knitting takes forever but is way more straight forward than i thought it would be, you got this!

    I love the navy blue one.
    I have worked upwards and downwards before when l have been unsure about the amount of yarn l had . . . So l want to finish off working downwards for as long as possible.

      that's such a good strategy for when you're worried about yarn amounts!!

      i'm so excited for it!! i'm tweaking a few things with the bust shaping right now to make it perfect for ppl with larger busts, so it's been a little delayed, but should still be out before summer!

    A similar thing happened to me with a provisional cast on! White fibers from the provisional shed into a red cotton fabric, but luckily it was at a folded neckline so it wasn't noticeable. I love watching your channel while I knit! Currently working on the lakes pullover by hailey from ozetta and the square neck camisole by helene from garn og slikt :)

    • @starcrossedknits
      @starcrossedknits  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ahh so I'm not alone in that happening!! That's so funny and counterintuitive how it ended up being the white fibers that got onto your project! I guess I'm going to be careful choosing really similar colors from now on?! Also I'm so into the square neck camisole, I've had that one saved forever (I obv love square necklines if you couldn't tell yet from all my square-necked projects lately hehe)

    Enjoying seeing someone who knits like me. Though I’m not nearly so fast and relatively new. I think I might be even more free form though 😂 I plan entirely while I knit and really only plan a couple inches ahead with maybe a general plan for the end garment. Would love design vlogs your process sounds really interesting. Do you use try-it-on tubing to try on your garments so frequently?

    • @starcrossedknits
      @starcrossedknits  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yesss we love a go-with-the-flow knitter! i just got those tube cords within the past 6 months and they have been such a game changer for me omg. the design vlog i'm working on right now is a little more structured because i am planning to make a pattern for it, but maybe i'll film another one the next time i do a more freeform project like this one!
