Somehow I stumbled upon this again , so your rough idle is because you deleted the oil injection , we had a 150 hp Johnson as I mentioned previously. We used our VRO (variable ratio injection) so what is going on is that at half to full throttle you are using your optimum fuel to oil ratio (cannot recall if 50:1 but something stands out that is the case) at IDLE and low speeds your motor is loading up as it does not need as much oil (variable in VRO) ,will not hurt anything , and as you yourself mentioned a new set of plugs would not hurt in anyway. I have one of these right now. Had one brand new in 1984 both have 115 Evinrude with factory stainless props. 60 - 62 mph. It’s hard to tell how fast you’re going. But it looks like I’d kick your butt in a drag race. Might have to keep an eye out for a nice 175 Black Max for my next motor. Sorry if I offended ya. Not my intention. ya know the block itself has lifting eyes for a hoist. but the best and safest is the factory lifting eye that threads into the flywheel. the steering should (just a suggestion) really be replaced with dual-cable. single cable on anything over 50mph is not safe. Some setup work, a low water pickup and round-ear surfacing prop like a yamaha drag copy or SRX would really get you moving. awesome vid those 150's and 175hp Eagle 60 degree motors are simply awesome torque monsters.
I saw a guy put a modern 150 on it that weighs 418 pounds... Mercury racing 260hp V6s from the early 80s weigh less than 400 pounds... And can be built up to OVER 300hp... Just saying.

We ran a 150 on our 115 rated boat for over a decade SOOOOOO much fun and never an issue with Coast Guard!
Fuel system needs a good going through probably carbs because it cleans up and runs straight sounds good when it's up on the tachometer.
