- The best of both worlds comes to the SE Series. The SE Hollowbody II Piezo combines the balanced, clear, resonant tone of a hollowbody instrument with the power and stability of a solid-body electric guitar. Constructed with a maple back and top with mahogany sides, the SE Hollowbody II Piezo offers a light shimmer and snap in an attractive package. The 58/15 “S” pickups deliver clarity and balance that sound big and musical in a hollowbody platform.
Now boasting a newly-designed LR Baggs/PRS Piezo system, the SE Hollowbody II Piezo provides musicians with the versatility of wielding both acoustic and electric tones in one instrument. The instrument is designed with two discrete volume controls (magnetics and piezo) and output jacks (mix/piezo and magnetics). Players can plug into the “Mix/Piezo” jack and use the individual volume controls to blend the 58/15 “S” pickups with the piezo’s acoustic tones. Alternatively, players can plug into the jacks separately, so the guitar can run magnetic pickups into an amp and run the piezo through an acoustic amp or DI into the soundboard. When using the magnetic output jack in isolation, the piezo battery is bypassed completely, acting as a failsafe (in this scenario, the magnetic pickups still work even if the piezo battery has run out of juice). This is the most versatile SE instrument in the Series nearly twenty-year history.

Good. I had two roughly 1890 instruments.. the rosewood banjo is worn through down to the mahogany underneath, the ebony guitar board looks like it could be a year or two old.

I hear ya, recently pick up a D’Angelico Bob Weir Deluxe, so amazing. Then ordered a Texas Tea Fender Ultra Tele that Sweetwater said would not be until end of summer, I was cool. I can save some funds. But it just came in and has already shipped. Dang, had to hit the credit card heavy. Now I want this one.

this is the best PRS made ,, I have a few cores and did not like the core hollowbody construction ,, wanted old Gibson type woods ,, I forget the guitar is made in china thats how good it is ,, Pickups could be changed out but sounds incredible the way it is

I love how proud PRS is about their SE line. These guitars just keep getting better, I'm afraid I'll be an SE collector at some point, haha. (Well, I'll need to save up for that but it'd be totally worth it). I want them all, and this is such an awesome addition to the SE family! Way to go, PRS. As always.
Yeah, not a bad thing to be an SE collector. I’ve been thinking about buying a CE 24 (because of the neck and the pickups) but my two SEs are lovely and I could by this and an acoustic PRS for the price of a CE. Guess we will both collect SEs!

I got myself the blue one! Boy do I love it!!!!! The first of hopefully many PRS guitars. The quality of this guitar is outstanding. I wish it had locking tuners, however these are easily upgraded through the website.

The acoustic sounds are spot on.
I first discovered piezo pickups by listening to a lot of Rush and Alex Lifeson, even though he didn't have this model, I thought his PRS looked and sounded fantastic. I've never had a hollow-body guitar before, but as soon as you turned the tone knob, I knew this would be a world of sound potential. Hope to save up enough for one soon!

I've wanted a prs piezo since the early 00s seeing Dan Estrin from hoobastank using one. I know probably not what most people think, but that was in vogue when I was in high school.
I’ve wanted a rosewood necked PRS hollowbody since I saw Dan Estrins back in those early years. I’m pleased to say PRS made it as an option a few years ago and I was finally able to get a super PRS hollowbody II with piezo and a solid rosewood neck with Brazilian fretboard. Super guitars.

I've been prepping my organs for sale to afford a Hollowbody II Piezo, but now I don't have to! Thanks PRS! The quality on this guy looks fantastic! Assuming it's the same South Korean factory as the rest of the SE line, I know there's absolutely nothing to worry about quality-wise.

Was wavering on the Fender Acoustasonic until I found this guitar, now no contest this will be my next guitar! Thank you Brian for the great demo. But seriously I have not found any bad reviews of this guitar and I have watched about 10 so far.
Fenders are better at acoustic sounds though. PRS offers a full set of mag pups. Just what you prefer.

Well depending on where you live, there are places where you can get all your music needs met paying for instruments over time, but you get the instrument after first payment. I’ve bought all my expensive music equipment from a company called Zzounds. I can afford payments over a year vs all at once.
I use my Hollowbody II as my acoustic guitar for solo shows and love it for that. At $5200.00 retail, it's prohibitive for most of us to own and I couldn't have it if not for the music store I taught at. They took super good care of me to put it within reach. I'm going out a limb here, but you will not regret the SE version if you get one. I would certainly consider one for "the toolbox" but more of a desire than a need to be sure. Worst part of the HBII is that if you only use magnetics, you still drain the piezo. I have to pull the battery or constantly plug/unplug the cable to save battery life. The SE system is the way the Core guitar should be as well. Love my Core HBII, just to be clear. I have 5 PRSs (4 Core and 1 SE) and would buy any others as the chances arise. My YT name should be probably give that way, lol

This is awesome! I've been waiting for this for so long. Please bring out one more color though! My other two PRS are in these colors 😅....or add piezo and coil split in the core hollowbody II then I'd just drop all the $$$ to get that. Would literally be the most versatile guitar (other than a variax which . . eh)
