  • In this informative video, Marvin Musick discusses Medicare dental coverage, its benefits, and how to obtain it.
    Marvin, the founder of Medicare School, explains that while Medicare provides excellent coverage for hospital visits and surgeries, it is pretty limited regarding dental services. He outlines the few situations where Medicare may cover dental procedures, such as dental services that are an integral part of a covered procedure or in specific medical situations like jaw surgery or oral examinations preceding heart valve replacement or kidney transplant.
    To help viewers navigate their options, Marvin presents three ways to obtain dental coverage: self-paying, enrolling in an Advantage plan, or getting a private dental insurance plan. He details the pros and cons of each option, providing helpful tips to help viewers make an informed decision. Marvin emphasizes the importance of being prepared and proactive regarding dental care, as Medicare is unlikely to cover most dental procedures. Whether you are on Medicare or helping a loved one make decisions about dental care, this video is a must-watch for anyone looking to better understand their options for dental coverage.

      Crooked politicians and contractors. Back in the 80's we got so much for various dental procedures and a pair of eyeglasses a year. Over time these benefis disappeared and they raised the age for children to be on your insurance where they weren't covered through college. When the citizens win one battle the contractors are in there every year and paying the congress people to contract out, they're after social security and medicare now. All these politicians that erode medical and pollute have some or multiple family members that this affects.

So I've been putting it off and not getting the major work on my teeth bc of this lack of asst. Thank you for clearing some of this up for me. I have an Advantage plan with Highmark Blue Shield. I have dental bundled in and I get $2500 per yr for dental. My co-pay is $15 for a cleaning and $15 for an xray. Next yr there is no co-pays so I will pay nothing for cleanings, etc. Also now I pay 50% for fillings, etc. next yr it will only be 20% for those. Each plan is different with an annual benefit my friend who has Blue Cross for her advantage plan only gets $1,000 per yr.

      I have the Manhattan Life dental, vision and hearing plan also, and I hope you have a better experience than I have had. I have had the plan 3 years and am probably going to cancel it. The annual deductible goes up to $100 per year and while you may have that $3000 benefit, be prepared for them to not allow you to use it like you expect. I have filed claims for routine dental cleanings and x-rays which they will cover, but I recently got new lenses for my glasses, and they disallowed nearly everything in my prescription. For example, they would not cover UV or Anti glare coatings or polycarbonate lenses, which are commonly prescribed, very inexpensive parts of a prescription. My point is that even though you pay for a lump sum of annual benefit, they won’t pay out except for the bare bones portion of whatever your claim is for. I pay nearly $60 per month for coverage at 80% coverage in addition to paying the $100 deductible, but having the benefit is useless if the insurance company refuses to allow you to claim it.

    • @Retiredmco
      @Retiredmco ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I can honestly tell you that you are better off not getting the medicare dental plans.....
    They pay less than you think, most go on a fee schedule which means that they will pay a very small percentage of a fixed fee.( very low).
    You are better off socking away the extra money in an envelope marked " dental".

    Not mentioned here are Dental Discount Memberships. Not all dentists/endodontists participate, so you need to ask. For a set fee, you receive major discounts off routine and advanced dental care. I joined AVS for $145 when it was discovered that I needed a root canal. Not only did it reduce the bill from $1200 to $850 per the oral surgeon, it reduced the follow up repair work. It reduced my routine exam and cleaning cost to $95. I ended up extending the membership and adding my spouse, as it is so affordable. With insurance, you always have a risk of claim denial.

    Marvin,
    I am a dedicated follower. I am a health insurance broker but like to see how you explain things. No secret you’re not a fan of Advantage plans. No problem.
    However, the individual dentals plans you describe here are identical to many of the dental “allowances” included with a Medicare Advantage plan. In fact, several of the dental plans included on some Medicare Advantage plans are better. I have one carrier with max coverage up to $5000 annually in or out network.
    I don’t know …. Are you getting a bit too biased ?

    Can one have an advantage plan with a dental allowance and a separate dental plan? Would there be a coordination of these benefits if this option is allowed?

    i am in illinois and here at least, medicare part c also known as medicare advantage is a dirty word. last year and probably again this year there are a ton of companies advertising part c on television. i have heard that the receive $10,000 for everyone they sign up which would explain why they can afford to do television advertising. some ads are 30 minutes long. everyone i have heard of that has had it, hated it. i have part A, B & D. that seems to work pretty well here. this is a good video that just came out that you can see on youtube - Medicare Costs: How to Save Money and Avoid Costly Mistakes. happy hunting!

    Is someone on Medicare still allowed to use the ACA Dental plans?

    • @MedicareSchool
      @MedicareSchool  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ACA health plans end at 65. Unless they have a separate dental plan that is available for people any age.
      We have a recommendation that has really great rates and coverage. If have any questions please, feel free to give us a call at 800-864-8890 or schedule a free appointment here:

    If i were to go on the Major Dental plan, do all dentists take it? And when it's 50/50 coverage of say a crown...is that 50% of the "usual and customary charge"? That can be very deceiving.

      With our recommended option, you have the freedom to visit any dentist. Network dentists have lower fees. Feel free to give us a call at 800-864-8890 or schedule a free appointment here:

    Seems like getting older is more expensive . I dont know how I am going to afford all of the insurance. I wonder if u work part time if you can pick up there dental plan. Jeez I thought that I paid high premiums for all of my insurances. It all adds up with everything , get the supplement, get dental I am sure you have to pay for vision as well. Good lord.

    Also remember when they say they pay 100 percent, it's only what they figure is a customary fee. My plan pays only $78 for my cleanings and cost is way more. I think they still think we are living in the 1900"s ,as the payments have not changed over the years and costs have!

    Seniors dont have dental or vision or med coverage unless they purchase coverage c which they cant afford with 1400 a month most poor seniors get 1200 refugees get free medical and 2100 they are treated better than seniors that worked all there lives in america im 64 i know i will die at 65 cuz i wont be able to afford meds

    You would think that Medicare would cover dental. Most seniors are the ones who need it most...Plus a lot of those plans you talked about only pay like 1,000 or up to 2500; If you need a crown and root canal You're gonna go over that with one tooth
    I have essentials Is a copay plan For dental vision And hearing....As long as you go to an in network doctor it's not bad and it only cost me $30 a month

    Good video sir.
    Im in great need of getting every tooth pulled and will need dentures or other option of replacement teeth most dentists will take Medicade or Medicare etc they wont remove the ones that are causing severe pain and send you out the door with a referral to a specialist who in return WILL take the insurance but only if you are getting EVERY tooth pulled and then your on your own to find a way to fund dentures etc. Having a much better option for people who have big issues and I am not including teeth cleanings and procedures that are under say $500 it would save so much money in the long run due to health issues that begin from dental issues oral treatment should be at the top of the list for things that Should be covered 100% thanks for your helpful video 👍
