I can't believe it. I finally found a drone hobbyist who knows how to solder. You actually used flux and followed the two second rule(you don't want to be on a joint for over 2 sec.)
First to say how much i love this series, micro drones are taking over but king Kong been doing it

I don't care for their quads that are bigger than 3in. They are making very competitive quads in the 2 and 3 inch range

I LOVED MY 130 When I started
I really enjoyed this review! Great job, loved the fly around your house. This is the one for me but I am a SUPER Beginner soon to be 1st race drone owner I havnt found anything else that catches my eye or compares. I wanted to start with a little 90 but I like this more! I wanted one that has a mushroom antenna that would be better signal and the other type of battery connector with thicker cable. This will do just fine to start with. I'm sold!

those antennas are dipoles as they have the little metal casing. mono-poles are like your receiver antennas that are just a exposed length of coax

Surprised it held up on 3S. Should have checked the motor warmth right after the flight. I think KingKong usually sets the beeper to go off at 3.5v per cell, which is WAY too high (7.0 v on 2S ... 10.5v on 3S) . You can safely drop that warning to 3.2v since min. voltage on LiPo cells is 2.9v. I also don't like the VTX on the King Kong, which is limited to just 16 channels .. with a funky LED pattern recognition required to figure out which channel you're on. Even if your goggles can do a scan, its possible to pick up a nearby channel instead of the one you're on, so its always good to know for sure which channel you're flying on (and verify that your goggles scan to that channel). The sun is out here today .. but is also 8 deg. F and going down below 0 (zero) tonight. I think Monday we may make it up to freezing (32 deg. F). Get some Gemfan 2040 Hulkie props for that thing ... you'll see a big improvement. You know that I'm a retired Sr. Electronic Technician ... but I won't make any comments on your quickie solder job .. its fine for what you're doing :-) Nice Review! Mahalo!
I know that the DYS ELF comes with a "bare bones" FrSky protocol TX, set up for D8 mode (that's on the RX). Not sure if it can be configured to D16 or if the Kingkong 100 uses D16 mode. If it uses D8 mode, you should be able to bind to it. Check for some other reviews to see what Taranis protocol it uses before making a decision.

When are you going to move to a more mild climate so we don't have to hear about how cold it is in every comment? (Joking). Fastest on camera soldering I've ever done 😅✌️. +MC's Creations I like the Frsky xsr. It's small, has 2 antenna for better range and has a tiny plugin for FC connections if you don't want to solder 👍

Thanks! :D I have a FlySky FS-T6 that is good enough for a few brushed micros I'm going to make (the parts are getting really long time to get here :( ), but I also want to make a 2.5 inch quad and... I don't know, I think it's best if I get a FrSky transmitter. You know? But... Don't know yet. The X9D is too expensive, but looks like you can't put a 6 position switch in Q X7... So I don't know what to do yet. :/

+Enigma4506 The 95gt performs just about exactly as this one. Great little quads. The 95gt is just as good just without the aluminum cage which actually make it a hit lighter and more nimble 👍

I want to upgrade the FC with version 4.06 but I did not found information to start it with BootLoader mode on and then upgrade the FC, can you help me with this one ?
I’m really unsure what all I need to get started with a little FPV racing quad. I’ve flown many quads, “3D” collective pitch helicopters and planes as well. I’m not new to flying but I can’t seem to figure out everything I need. Could you link me everything to get started? I want to possibly use fat-shark goggles and have any good reliable carbon fiber framed mini quad. I want to have “airfly”? (Whatever it is. Meaning no leveling out) and a spectrum transmitter if possible.
How did you bring this thing in acro mode?

Seriously, I Hope That I Can Get To The Level You And So Many Others Are At In Your Flying Ability. I See You Do So Many Other Reviews With GPS Hold Aircraft, And Then After Months Even Years Worth Of Gaps, You Don The Goggles, Grab The Controller, And Make It Look Like It's Your Everyday Cockpit. For Me It's More Like 30 Seconds Or Less Of Air, Then An Aircraft Cartwheeling Across The Field Next To My Home At A High Rate Of Speed. Great Visual, But Rather Expensive At Times..
+Mark Adamson lol..Right on Mark. It's taken me a few years of casual FPV flying to get to this point. Once you get over the hurdle your at and your brain subconsciously makes your hands react you will get better very quickly. Atleast that's how it was for me. And I can't stress enough how important it is to practice on small and light craft for safety reasons and also your pocket book 👍

What's up with the pricing on this thing. The PNP (no Rx) is $132 , but the BNF w/ spektrum Rx is $90. Could I just buy the BNF with spektrum , take that Rx out and put in an XM+? Save a lot of money that route. What say you ?

Dustin Dunnill ...does it have 5+, grd and sbus pads? I assume where ever they solder to if you buy BNF FRsky version is where you solder to if you buy PNP version. U could save roughly $50 if you already have a Rx. Hmmm. That may make it worth it. :-)
+Brad Miles I'd check to see if you can find an FC layout image online. I think I may have shown it in one of my other kk Reviews during unboxing. I would think it's a multi protocol FC like most are these days.
