I have 33's and regularly wheel with a guy who has 35's (both similar Defender 110 P400's). The difference in terrain he's able to tackle vs me is ... insane. 35's are def the way to go on these. I however don't want to get into trimming the plastics just yet. Also, looks hot too, as you point out.
I think 35s make any vehicle extremely capable, It is a bit of a commitment when you have to start cutting but it does come out to an awesome look! Thanks for watching!
I own a P400X. If the wheels were put on by "cheating" the pneumatic suspension, then this is a bad option! There will be no suspension moves and that's bad! I think the Australian company has a good solution! Thanks!
Defender community needed this video and I’m thankful you brought it man! Yo you do you, but it puckered my butt to see you cutting metal with the sawzaw and no eye pro. 🫣 Stay safe my man!! Again appreciate your video, the edits and the knowledge share!🙌
I am following this build as in Australia I can't say I've noticed a defender on 35's yet. & I notice Defenders just cause I love them. That colour would be my choice (but not yours) the lift mod amazed me, tricking air components to achieve ride height, genius. Here in Aus our road rules are very regulated, with 2" lift, only 1" tyre hieght allowed or vice versa, you choose which you want to have. To do as you have done we need to get the vehicle re-engineered, very costly exercise and difficult to achieve, probably why I haven't seen 35's on a Defender here. Wheel spacers are 100% illegal throughout Aus, only exception a Porshe model that came standard from factory with spacers. Having said that, yes we have vehicles modified without engineering but every now and then police do a blitz defecting or removing non compliant vehicles. The main issue for us though, have an incident and the insurance is wiped, you're uninsured wearing all costs. I'm in total awe of your situation in the USA, hence of your vehicle build. Keep me in awe, show me what else you choose to do to this extremely awesome vehicle, just love it.
I had no idea they had that much regulation on vehicles there, I could not make it, this is the least I’ve modified and off-road vehicle ever haha more to come in this extremely soon! Thanks for watching!
I will not be doing that to my defender. I will have to settle for just 33’s. Looks great I must say. FYI I had water over the hood all the way to the windshield and no problems.
@@GodspeedZRZ I don’t have a problem with cutting it up but it’s still under warranty and I don’t want to loose it till it’s over at 100k. I do love my Defender, it’s my first Land Rover and I won’t go back to anything else. I have not been able to stop it yet.
Looks great with the big tires, just not sure I could ever cut one up like that to get there. This was the video I ran across that sucked me into subscribing and binge watching a lot of your videos over the weekend. Just curious what sort of effect cutting the Land Rover up like that, had on its residual value when you traded it in on the Bronco Raptor. That might make a good video topic, how extreme mods effect the future residual values of high-end machines like this. Love the channel keep up the great work.
I appreciate that and that's a great idea. When trading at dealerships you hardly ever get more for mods and you have to find the right place that won't give you less for custom work like this haha
Thanks for the video. Quick question, after removing the auxiliary coolers a lot of coolant came out. Did you have to bleed the entire system after reassembly? If so, can you comment briefly on how you did it or how difficult or easy it was? I’m hesitant to remove the auxiliary coolers if I end up having to bleed the entire system. Unless it’s fairly strait forward. Thanks!
It is supper straight forward! I literally just hooked everything back up and filled up the coolant progressively as it warmed up haha it never gave me any issues
Thanks. Just finished it up today. Was easier than I expected. But on my older Range Rover it was a nightmare. It’s all button up now and it’s getting 34”s tomorrow. I went with 275/65/20, more narrow for better clearance and less rubbing so I don’t have to cut as much.
@@GodspeedZRZ ah ok understood ….. I’m dying to do 35’s on my defender . I think they would look so good with my project kahn wheels all black on tazman blue … just sinister looking
I run their ARb air compressor bracket, ditch light brackets, and switch-pros bracket. I have modded my defender a ton, which, skids, Bullbar…to many mods to list…like you I do all my own wrenching…keep the videos coming
Defender looking great! Cutest little girl ever!
The best!
Defender looking sweet!!!
It's crazy how much a bigger set of mud tires can change the look! I really like it now!
Looks much better!
Thank you, I'm really pleased with the overall look so far!

I greatly appreciate it, I honestly forgot my glasses haha Thanks for watching!
This thing should've been designed with 35's from the beginning.
I couldn’t agree more!
How many hours have you spent in total? Great upgrade. Well done.
Honestly not sure, maybe 5 hours for everything!
Yeah, looks awesome. Huge difference
So different, thanks for watching!
Looks good. I about got sick watching you cut it up.
The most effective weight reduction!
Reminds me of my 4Runner days. Trimming panels to get it to fit.

@@TheDefenderSisuI agree. It voids the warranty for air ride. I put KO2’s on mine but not as big as I’d like.

Oooofff looks so good! You're almost there! Just a bit more trimming on the back and you will be good!

Good Morning! You are always on top of it!
Nice! Looks good dude
Thank you, it really changed the look!
Looks cool, but it's a lot of fettling needed to make them work. Great explanation showing what's what. 👍
Nothing easy is ever worth it!
With so little cutting required, all things considered, why didn’t LR just make the chassis 35” capable from factory?
They definably could and should had, I have no clue why they don't!

What size wheel spacers did you use? 30mm all around or… cheers in advance!
Yes, 30mm on all four corners!
@@GodspeedZRZthanks, are they the stock wheels 20 inch by 8.5 inch?
Curious if you would have skipped the spacers could you have avoided cutting ?
The tires wouldn't clear without the spacers. They are needed to clear the upper control arm.

After all the changes, what is the ground clearance?
I'm not sure, I haven't measured it yet!
These upgraded tires definitely add presence to this vehicle! Question: Will this void the warranty and potentially reduce resale value?
I’m not worried about the resale with the right buyer it will increase it! As for the warranty depending on what messes up it could!
@@GodspeedZRZ Yea, but if the warranty is null and void, defo get an independent warranty, as this can be pretty expensive to repair. :)
That machine looks good! How’s the road noise?
Louder than it was but not bad with a little music.
Now that looks f-ing awesome 🤩 hopefully the Zac mods will work out!! Now you have a defender Sasquatch edition 😂 👍 has Bronco Appeal now
I think so too, so much more aggressive! Proud to drive it around now!

Casually trim.i g off unibody structure for bigger tires😅
Gotta do whatever it takes haha
Would you have to cut with 18” rims?
Yes, the wheel size doesn’t change anything if you are still running the same size tire. Merry Christmas!

your diffs will be ok? do you need to rehear with 35s?
Diffs should be just fine, still has plenty of power and didn't make a noticeable difference in low end torque to the ground. Thanks for watching!
Saltek makes a tire spare tire carrier extension
I think I would go with their angled one, it looks so different!

these tires are too big
I would put km3 35x12.5 , which are actually 34.5 or if you wanted that mark I would have put 275/60/20
I love the tires have ran many sets and love the size!
