So buy the season pass that has doubled in price to get the best value out of the season tiers and not miss out on 200+ monster bone+/carpenterbug/earth crystals, then a few weeks later buy a special ticket to get access to a monster early, and unlimited HATS and EDIS and STILL need to worry about inventory space and potions, both of which can only be bought, while doing this. I know we all love this game, but it's going down a path that if we pretend is OK, it will only get worse. It doesn't help that Niantic is increasing its relationship and offering goodies and access to some of the most profilic content creators of this game, reducing the chance they will ever speak about this in fear of ruining their relationship with Niantic. I appreciate that you touched on this slippery slope a little at the start.
I agree with everything you said, but I won't be bought by Niantic. I haven't watched KOC's video on this yet, but Shawnzy, myself, AND Pauwer are all saying the same thing, which is "I sure hope this isn't a lot of money because that would be some BS"
@@HuntersNotezBut that's not criticism, nor is it a discussion on this game's monetization. That's a throwaway comment, and even that throwaway comment depends on something. You said you agreed with everything I said, but my comment remains one of the few unhearted ones. I'm not pointing that out to you because I want one, but to show how much easier it is to say something than do or be it. It was Těam Darkside's video with a quarter of a million views that detailed the abhorrent cost and time sink behind getting a 10.5 weapon that suddenly got us events and a bunch of quests that began giving out Wyvern Gem Shards. Their content forced Niantic to change the way they handled this game and its events. We haven't seen anything like it since. It's easy and powerful sounding to say one won't be bought, but you're a small channel that has access to the developers, promotional material, and the ability to test out new things before everybody else in some cases. This is a large deal for your content. There are channels that cover other games that have 5 to 10x your subscriber count and don't have the relationship with the developer of the game their content is about that you do. That's not something you or any of the other small channels that make up the bulk of the consistent content creators for this game would want to lose. This is proven by the fact that none of you have made a dedicated video devoted solely to the topic of the steady creep of anti-cōnsumer practices and nickel and diming of the playerbase by Niantic, yet I've seen many of you claim to "agree" with people who voice these concerns in your comment section, but only in a superficial way.
@@leonfrancis3418 Hm, I feel like you haven't watched a lot of my content if you think I'm ok with their monetization 😅😂 I have criticized their pricing structure and REALLY harped on potions being monetized since the beginning. I've made 2 dedicated videos that most of the content is me complaining about the game and about monetization. However. If you are an adult with self control, then it shouldn't be a problem to resist buying almost everything. Genuinely the only time I spend money on this game is for videos when I'm doing challenges and I'm like "well, I have to keep going for the video" Right now I have 12 First aid meds and only don't have 15 because I was fighting a monster I needed for a quest and was doing it after the spawn refresh so if I lost, it was gone. And even then, I didn't HAVE to use my FAM. And I'm a dual blader, the most glass canon weapon type... Do I think that Team Darkside's video had influence? Yeah, but also the ENTIRE COMMUNITY was complaining about the drop rates 😂. That is a direct unsubstantiated claim you just made which makes me care about your opinion less. So far I have not tested any early builds, just KOC. And the only reason I have access to the BTS stuff is because of being in Capcom Creators, not because of Niantic Directly. You assume I have much more influence with Niantic than I do haha. So far my direct experience with them has been very positive, but the higher ups have no intention of changing things. And why would they? They are making literal billions from this game, but you expect that a part time youtuber with 5k complaining or making a video essay about their monetization being bad to have an effect on the decision makers of the game? 😅 I complain a good bit and express my disdain for their BS monetization, but If I am constantly saying it and being negative in every video, no one is going to watch. You are assuming a lot in these comments like saying we don't want to lose those privileges and saying "This is proven" by me not making a dedicated video to it. As I can tell, you haven't seen the at least 2 others I have made on this subject. So it's fruitless until I'm bigger and EVEN THEN I watch Trainer Tips and Mystic7 struggle to influence Niantic when they had HUGE audiences and literally nothing changed haha. I personally sent them a thread of over 100 messages from my discord that mu community wants changed with the game and also spoke directly with things that I would like changed or made for the game like a pogo+ style peripheral, asking about MHN fest etc. I've done a lot behind the scenes. I just don't like to advertise it because It's irrelevant to most videos. Those in my discord know, and that's fine with me. Make a well researched video yourself and link it to me and I'll share it on my channel bro! 💪😄🫡 I'd love to help you with your crusade. I'm not going to try to beat my head against a wall. I'm going to spend very little on the game and continue to play primarily F2P and enjoy myself and ignore 90% of the monetization instead of feeling pressured to buy packs or upgrade unless I truly want them. I also am not going to feel bad spending money on a game I love. I've spent about $100 total (A little under) since launch and the youtuber channel has paid for every cent so I'm proud of that. If people didn't engage with the monetization, they would stop it. The community/wales have to stop paying. You are just looking to us to solve the problems that a large group are perpetuating and sounding really salty about it. I commented and replied to you, I usually only heart comments to show I've read it and don't want to or have the time to reply. I consider replying a bigger deal because it takes more time out of my day. But my bad for hurting your feelings man. 👊🏻 I'll heart this one for you.
I'm lookin forward to them releasing some earnable item that provides the unlimited HaT/EDI (pronounced like "Eddy", I have proclaimed it.) Hopefully they see how many people take advantage and make some option to do the same outside of events. On my commute home I and *surrounded* by HaT/EDIs and I can only do one of them cause I ain't rollin' in it yet. Great Vid.
Great video Zak! Unfortunately I feel like the paid pass will be 25-30 dollars. You get 2 days of unlimited HaTs probably they would average out to 5 hunting passes per day, 10 passes at 300 gems each with additional benefits would be at least 20 bucks which i myself wouldn't get but I will be surprised if it's less than that
I’m worried about how much the event will incentivize more spending. If I burn through my meds, I’m sure I will feel more pressure to spend cash on potions so I can squeeze as many Kushala invasions in as possible…
@@HuntersNotez I’m just concerned about the model in general. It kind of seems like it is intentional. You mentioned scummy sales tactics often take advantage of human psychology.
@@HuntersNotez I think I might just sit this one out. If they made potions f2p or the event f2p, I think I’d be on board. The fact that both are paid makes me want the event to fail so Niantic hopefully makes a change. Unfortunately, I’m sure I will be in the minority of dedicated players willing to sit out the event and it won’t make any difference.
@@HauxYZ250I want to agree with you but I’m hesitant until I see the actual price of the ticket. If it’s like $5 that’d be what I’d be happy paying but considering the pricing of everything else in this game, it’ll probably be more like $15 or more which is getting kind of scummy in my opinion. But at this point I’m just enjoying the game and trying my best to ignore the scummy monetization part of it. Part of me is also expecting them to price this ticket in gems so they can make it wildly overpriced and justify that by saying “oh but just use the hunter’s pass gems and it’s cheaper”.
niantic in case you read this: idgaf about those events since for example i already destroyed all my deviljho parts since i have no room in my inventory. why would i farm it again? thx
Im down for the paid event. Its a skin and some quests for early access, as well as HaTs/Intercepts for like a day. If this moves us away from paying for potions or paintballs I am all for it
I mean true. But I think it's really dumb wording. Because it implies to me that if I part break, or get group hunt bonuses, then those will factor in and I will get that percentage. So for it to be 50%, you have to do a default, solo, non-part break hunt. Again, annoying language tactics to hype up the reward. I'm still thankful for that and I guess that makes it true, I just always get at least one part break so I didn't even factor in a vanilla non-part-break hunt in my mind.
I hope that ticket gonna be 10$ max with good currency conversion to my local money because in my country literally everything is overpriced in this game sad pepe
I'm similar, with hammer. I'm saving so I can buy a hammer one too 😂 I'm getting both. (I have to buy my own merch from the company) I'll have gunlance out in a week or two 👌
Niantic is seeming pretty despite to money grab with the new events and systems. Makes me feel like they are in some kind of financial trouble. I think the big one you missed was paying for bag space. lol
I agree with you. I live in Japan so my max range in ¥1000-1500 which is about 6-10$usd. Either way I want the event to start. I want some new weapons and armor. Lol
I've got mixed feelings about the paid event. In one hand, it is awesome that people who pays gets early access as well as unlimited rewards, but at the same time, I don't like the idea that Niantic already makes you get items from the shop by spending irl money, so it makes Niantic look like they're more interested in getting money.
