I'm skeptical that people smile at him more solely because of his height. I believe his negative self-perception before might have influenced how he interpreted others' reactions towards him. Now that he has a ‘better’ self-perception, he’s interpreting others’ behaviour as more positive, when perhaps it’s been that way all along.

It's so rare to see a man have insecurities like this and admit it. He's a very good lookin guy and it's a bummer that people made fun of his height. Though he seems to be happy. I wish him well.
Over multiple videos I’ve heard him talk about how different people treat him now that he is 6’0” tall. So is it an insecurity or a desire to be treated well by a society obsessed with physical appearance?
Honestly, good for him. Going from 5 foot 5 to 6 foot will bring massive positives to his life. Dont listen to the salty comments man if youre reading this. No one wants to admit this, but everyone is extremely shallow in real life. Being a 6 foot man helps.
True, but recovery must take longer than for most surgeries because there's actually 2 surgeries done: one to put the fixator in, and another to take it out when the lengthening process is done.

Having had multiple ankle surgeries, including an external fixator, I would NEVER recommend this to ANYONE unless absolutely necessary (as in my case, for severe arthritis, pain management). However he is incredibly strong for going through that, whatever the reason. Men DEF get judged by their height, so no shade to you sir. Glad you are ok and happy with the end result!
I've had severe ankle arthritis since childhood. My joints were removed and fused together as a child because my pain was so bad. Now 50 years later one of them hurts so bad and there isn't enough bone mass to attach an artificial ankle to anything. Just have to wait on technology to catch up. For me it always hurts more when someone notices my limp and asks if I'm in pain. I say "I am now, since you asked and brought it to my attention. 😂🤣"

Not only is the surgery dangerous it now puts him in the category of almost guaranteed back problems later in life. 6'5 is usually the threshold for that.
dude paid 100k to start walking with a limp. 2:16. people who have accidentaly had their bones broken (myself in sports) would never elect to do so. Bones which have broken in half never heal back to normal. in the winter the broken bone will ache. There is nerve damage. Man you haters in the comment section are going to be really mad when he starts walking normally again. Some of y'all need to get a few lessons on how bones and muscles heal. Tons of athletes have broken plenty of Bones and many of them get right back into action after a few months.
@dr.aliadixonnursepractitio6473 Get acquainted with the facts before you speak. Nothing artificial that stays permanently in your system once the procedure is complete. The nail expands slowly allowing the bones to heal and fill in the spaces. Once the healing is complete, the fixators/nails are removed. This procedure is called distraction osteogenesis and in theory, it works exactly like a normal fracture.

I'm sure he didn't have an issue meeting women but, his height was the determining factor for most of his rejections. He was physically fit, likely made good money and had a great personality to boot. Ironically, very tall women have similar issues with dating but, it's still significantly better than short men.

I used to be the second shortest male in my grade, and people like this man’s girlfriend acted like living nightmares toward me. It still irks me to this day even thinking back to it all. Unfortunately I think people are overly hostile to short people even more so now than back when I was the short kid in high school. The experiences I had in high school as a short guy made me cry in the school bathroom on multiple occasions and overall become a lonelier, more reserved person, but I’m still glad I had those experiences because now I can see certain people for who they truly are. If any of you disrespect short kings, you’re not getting my respect either.
I don't think it's hostility, more of a lack of respect. what is weak we can dismiss. a short man is easy to dismiss and not take seriously because he poses no threat. you often hear older people acting like adults which is another way of saying, i will judge you in private but in public put on different face. children are honest and more cruel upfront. so what we have is a society that pushes ideals of working hard, valuing kindness, etc etc but doesn't value them across the board and consistently.

I wonder if his back is messed up now. I'm 5'2." 5'5" is just a little short for men from western Africa. Just a little. 5'7-8" is average. We're not tall people. It's unrealistic to expect our people to accommodate European norms. People of African descent are either short or over 6' tall. That's just the way it goes. They was nothing wrong with him at 5'5" that some counseling couldn't have gotten him through. His back is gonna make him regret all his life choices. He's not made to be 6' tall. Now he's got a torso that's disproportionate to his legs and more than appearance, that's gonna destroy his back. He should have told those people to kiss his brown eye and found somebody who wanted him for him. He's perfect for a woman my height. Edited to add: Honey, you were fine the way you were. You were supposed to be compact and you've messed that up. You think being short is bad, I promise debilitating back pain is worse. And being tall increases the risk of back problems anyway. You've put all that extra stress on a structure that's not up to code. 2-3 inches is no more than you should have done because of that.

Thanks to Kim Kardashian and other women who made having an enormous butt a trend... Sad to see both men and women crumbling under society's pressures...
Bless this man, I hope that he recovers well. Being out on a date just a few months after the surgery is kind of brave. This kind of surgery was initially offered to little people to improve the quality of life and make many everyday tasks possible and easier. It was aimed at limb straightening and lengthening. Usually proportions remain a bit off with this surgeries, because it is performed mostly on legs, and arms remain as they were before. Later they started to perform surgeries on everyone who wants it. I’ve read stories of girls who wanted to become runway models but were insecure of their height and undergone leg lengthening. Some stories were successful, however some of them weren’t. Any surgery is a risk, and there is always a chance that the body won’t react as we expect it to react. Some stories about leg lengthening were stories of pain and regret. I studied this subject because at some point in my life I was considering this surgery, but after I did my research and found out many risks and possible complications, I decided not to. I am 141 cm (4’8), and in my case, such surgery would only be able to give me 2-3 additional inches, which is not that much of a difference and I felt that it was not worth the risk. I am proportionate and my height is not related to any health condition, and I am much happier with all my limbs intact.
💙 You are perfect as you are at 4' 8". As you say, you are proportionate. Being in proportion (and being healthy) is more important. Society would be so boring if everyone was the same height. Variation in appearance is important because we are all different expressions of the same creational force (God). I don't judge people on their height. I tend to notice if people present as healthy and attractive, primarily. I watched a video about the world's shortest woman, Jyoti Amge, yesterday and she is so unbelievably cute and charming. 🤗❤She's under 2 feet tall and suffers from a form of dwarfism, obviously. But she's perfect to me as she is. It's amazing that someone as little as her can light up whole rooms with her presence, but she has a huge, sparkling personality and heaps of positive energy. ✨ Limb-lengthening surgery is far too risky and nobody knows the long-term consequences of it (like, 20, 30 or 40 years down the line). The modified bones in the legs must surely become more vulnerable as the person ages and becomes more fragile (especially a woman). 😣
I don't think this has anything to do with dating. Some People do this because they feel insecure . It's how you feel with yourself , not how girls feel about you
I'm just glad it went well. He seems to be gaining his strength back and if he is consistent, he should heal well. Healing is something that can take years. When I had my first baby, I had back pain that I was told if I strengthen my abs it should go away. I did floor exercises for TWO YEARS! The flutter kicks, the heels six inches off the floor, etc. I still had back pain even into my next pregnancy two years later. For some reason the pain just subsided one day and I hope one day his walking capability just kind of gets better.

It’s frustrating to see the shallow standards that some women uphold when it comes to dating. The obsession with height can overshadow so many other important qualities a person might possess. Imagine being a well-rounded, successful guy who’s confident and caring, yet dismissed solely because he doesn’t meet an arbitrary height requirement! It’s even more disheartening to see shorter women demanding partners who tower over them-talk about irony! Height should never be the sole factor in attraction. Instead, we should be prioritizing character, compatibility, and mutual respect. It’s time to challenge these superficial criteria and recognize that true connection goes far beyond physical attributes. Let’s focus on what really matters in relationships!
It's going to be a full year or even two before his legs are really strong and adjusted. Most surgeries take a year to recover from, surgeons always sell surgeries to take less time! and that can lead to frustration and depression when recover seems to take forever. As well as injuries from pushing to hard. Slow and steady wins the race!
You can accept the hand you were dealt, learn to love your flaws and truly love yourself. That doesn’t mean anyone else ever will. Nor are they obligated to. I’ve met plenty of men and women dying alone in hospice who’ve never been loved. People die alone and unloved every single day.

His advice was a bit contradictory at the end. He said to do what makes you feel good, and not care what other people think. But I’m sure negative feedback from people is what pushed him in the direction of limb lengthening.
People get sick of being treated like s**t their whole lives. Everyone subconsciously treats better looking people much more nicely than they do unattractive people. Being unattractive really, really hurts every day - the only way to avoid it is to avoid people. Wanting to improve that situation is completely rational.
Little bit of a contradictory message...'Don't care what anybody thinks, do what makes you happy'. But you do care what people think, that's why you got the surgery. WIth that being said though, I completely support the decision to do so. If we're being brutally honest with ourselves we know for a fact that tall men are treated vastly better than short men. Now that he has a ‘better’ self-perception, he’s interpreting others’ behaviour as more positive, when perhaps it’s been that way all along.

Limb-lengthening surgery is far too risky and nobody knows the long-term consequences of it (like, 20, 30 or 40 years down the line). The modified bones in the legs must surely become more vulnerable as the person ages and becomes more fragile (especially a woman). 😣
6ft is such a normal height in my country. I wouldn’t risk my health for that. If a woman really likes you the height doesn’t matter.
I don't think this has anything to do with dating. Some People do this because they feel insecure . It's how you feel with yourself , not how girls feel about you

The muscles stretch too. Pretty much all prople who had this procedure look weird cuz the proportions are way off

I'm 5'5, all my life wished that I could have been anywhere from 5'11 to 6'5. However, I would not do that surgery. My last few girlfriends were like 5'7 and 5'8 (though majority of women I've dated were my height and shorter). Even had one night stand with a lady from online dating, who was 6'1. That turned out to be a surprise for both of us, we both missed the height measurements on our profiles. We still had fun. I think social media makes it worse then it really is for short guys and dating. Its like in been the last few years, all of a sudden short guys are undesirable in social media. I mean short guys weren't popular like the tall guys. But now short guys being on the reject list, seems social media driven.

As time goes on and he get older he will have the worst case of arthritis. I’m sure he feels pain when it rains. Anytime you have a broken bones you will have some form of arthritis. Best of luck to you
This is false. Arthritis is a problem for the joints, not the bones.

I had to have this type of surgery because I had bone on bone arthritis in half of my right knee and it had started bowing inward and I could not walk properly.
