Thanks for posting this the windows bootup options is what was holding me back from using both G1/F1 and G2/F2 flashers. Neither one would see my devices until I did that.
I appreciate you sharing this tutorial! I managed to update my X1R-N on my Windows computer. While Godox claims otherwise, I couldn't get the G3 to detect my receiver on my M4 Mac. Fortunately, I had a PC available instead of needing to set up a virtual machine.
I also struggled to update X2TC on G3 using Mac for the same reason that the launcher was not picking up the device when connecting directly to the Mac using USB-C. I then used my adapter and connected the 2-way ports USB-3 to the adapter then USB-C to the trigger and it worked. The only challenge was at first I downloaded the incorrect firmware and tried the Z01 and it worked perfectly. Thank you and the comments made by other guys as it helped especially when it was not switching on.
Hi. I've successfully updated my Godox V1-N with G3. However my X1R-N isn't recognized on my Mac (I'll took a lot of cables) in G3. So updating was not possible.
I installed a Fuji hot shoe on the Olympus V1 to use my Fuji camera with the flash...should I install an Olympus firmware on the V1 or the Fuji firmware?
I haven't read all of the comments so perhaps this is a repeat but my device didn't show up when I plugged it in and it was ON. But I unplugged it, turned it OFF and plugged it back in again and it showed up. Not sure if this will work for you but it worked for me.
Thank you so very much for your tips on getting the G1 installer to work. Even though I had to get my tech guy out to do it because it's beyond my computer knowledge capabilities, and he had real doubts about it working....it DID work and he/we were able to install the drivers and finally complete the firmware update for the Godox V862ii. I am now able to use the 860ii on my new Z6ii. Absolutely no thanks to Godox for making everything so complicated and not having any tutorials or help for their customers.
I am unable to run this command in the command prompt it says "'system64' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file." what should I do? please help its urget
thanks for this video, Tom. The black text on black background in the G3 version of the app on macOS comes from the software not properly supporting macOS' dark mode. The background color is switched to black, but the foreground color does not change to white. Briefly switch macOS to light mode in System Settings > Appearance and you will be able to properly see G3's status messages
I was able to successfully update 1x AD200pro and 2x AD400pro. BUT!!!!!! Using G2 to update my Xpro-S trigger is a headache. the G2 app is not able to detect my trigger when connecting. I did the same thing as you did but nothing. Need help :(
Thank you for the video. I was able to update (downgrade) my firmware for the XPro1-C using your method. However, I ran into a snag. I checked the firmware version and noticed I had V 2.1 in the menu settings before the update. After the update it was 2.0. So someone (not me) updated my transceiver to 2.1 before I purchased it. For reference I received both the XPro1-C transceiver and the X1R-C receiver today 8-6-2024. Next I went through the hoops of Disabling Driver Signature Enforcement as you instructed but when I went to the actual driver firmware page there was 6 files for download. Two for Canon, Nikon and Sony. I downloaded both BIN files for Canon and read the PDF for each. One ended at version 18 firmware and the other ended with version 26. I checked my version number by turning the X1R off and while holding down the GR button turned it back on. The version number of the one I have is 26U so I left it alone. The other thing I noticed with the two different firmware(s) is the BIN file 16449994881420101 PDF stated to use the G1 installer and BIN file 1717576959761070 (newer) PDF stated to use G3 installer. Maybe they are moving X1R from the G -1 to the G-3 installer. Why leave both on the website is another mystery. Anyway, thanks for the video. It's too bad that it reversed the XPro1-C from 2.1 to 2.0. I can't speak for what functionality I lost in the reversal because I didn't have them long enough to know what I had before I updated the firmware.
Glad you got it downgraded and everything is working! It's definitely a confusing website. Wanna be fully caffeinated (or at least I do) before trying to update their flashes. :) Thanks for watching!
Why is the G1 launcher for Windows only? Can I use G3 for updating the TT685N? I am using Mac and want to update the TT685N.... very frustrating if I have to use G1 on windows!
I believe it's based on the age of the unit. You'll need to look at the updater's notes to see if you can use the G3 with the 685. If it's listed under the G1, you have to use that updater.
Great video, easy and to the point. I do have a question that anybody can answer if you know why this is the case for me. I have a Godox X-ProS first gen flash trigger. The Godox website says they have firmware V1.3, but why does my trigger (that has never been updated) show it is on V1.4 if the Godox website does not even have that listed as an option?
Hello! Is it possible to reflash speedlight completely. For example, to install firmware from V860ii-F on v860ii-O? And is the functionality of the firmware different from different brands of cameras?
Thank you very much. I did get the same error at the end after following your steps. But however after changing the data version which came with my camera cable made it possible to update it. However, is there a way to enable integrity checks back on after the update?
Could you please do a video on flash setup for mirrorless camera. I want to see my exposure in the lcd with and without ambient light when flash is off camera. I have watched several videos but none of these videos seems to explain clearly.
Great video! I'm trying to update my v860ii N and I get all the way to installing the G1 software, and the drivers fail. So I opened command prompt, followed your instructions, but it said the no integrity checks didn't work because it's against the Reboot Policy or something. Do you have any ideas on how to get past this?
Well I figured it out from another site and got my firmware updated! Basically if the command prompt doesn't work for you in Windows 11 you have to go to Settings > System > Recovery > Advanced Restart. When it restarts you will have options for how you want to start up. You will click Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings. It will show you a list of tall the options you can change after restart using the function keys. Click Restart. Once it's restarted you will press F7 for Disable Driver Signature Enforcement. Then you will be good to go.
Does it need it? Some updates are for compatibility with newer cameras. I’d read the notes and see what has changed. If everything is working fine the you don’t have to update.
Used G3 to update my V1-N, got cocky and tried to update my X2T-N and managed to lock it up completely. Discovered there are two versions of the firmware (a Z version??) either way my trigger isn't a Z version so used the other one. An hour of research and panic later, I found some one out there who brought their trigger back to life by installing the Z version firmware even though their trigger was not the Z version and low and behold it worked!
@@TomReplogle I went to the site today 8-6-2024 and there are two firmware updates for each of the three cameras. The bottom three, at least for the Canon X1R-C , are the newest and the PDF states to use G-3 installer. The latest update for the X1R-C is V26. This can be checked by turning the X1R off and while holding down the GR button turn the unit on. The version number will show in the display. Mine was 26
I still cannot update the firmware for my Godox XPro II N. The G3 installer simply does not connect to the XPro II controller. I have checked all the security permissions on my Mac to allow connections & I have tried 3 different USB C cables, 2 Mac Books & even connecting via a USB adapter as someone else suggested. I have performed numerous firmware updates before on Nikon flashguns, lenses & bodies without problem. I love the Godox flash system with the exception of their firmware updates which are absolutely appalling. Nikon updates are easy to install, they provide 2 lots of installation instructions & Nikon even provide a video showing you how to update the firmware. Godox don't even provide proper instructions & their support portal is totally useless.
I feel your pain. I wish I could help but it sounds like you've done everything I would recommend. I too really enjoy using Godox but you're right, their support is lacking. If I think of anything that might help get your trigger updated I'll add a reply.
I finally managed to update the firmware. Take the batteries out of the XPro II N Connect a USB C lead into the Mac Book Pro - this lead has a USB A hub connection at the other end. Then use a USB A lead to plug into that with a USB C connection at the other end. So bizarrely the Mac is USB C & the XPRo II N is USB C but the only way you can carry out the update is to convert the USB C to USB A via a Hub & then from the hub you convert it back to USB C to plug it into the Godox Pro II N. Godox - what absolute madness!!
The G1 launcher is 13 year old and Window 10 does not recognize it. For Window users (I am a Mac user), you need to disable driver signature enforcement. I had a friend who works on PC's and once he disabled that, I was able to install the driver for the G1 launcher. I am sure Window user know how to get to that area to turn is off.
I have multiple Godox / flashpoint products. It’s like sticking needles in my eyeballs to keep them updated. Can’t this company get their shit together!!!! I’m a photographer not a computer wiz. Makes me want to sell all their stuff and go to more expensive Profoto.
