For the UCS razor crest they could have included the dark saber hilt as a promo, and in the UCS venator they could have put mace windu’s lightsaber as a promo
You also have to take that "available within the first week of the set launch" with a massive grain of salt. All you have to do is go look at the Barad-dur reviews to see a ton of people who bought it day one didn't get their gwp because Lego ran out.
You know, seeing you hold both Luke’s and Anakin’s lightsabers in your hands, the Anakin actually looks really small and the Luke ROTJ hilt looks way more accurate to the size of the actual prop.
3:42 the gold part of the switch which flips up to turn on the lightsaber and the red and green buttons on the side are just side buttons to denote if the lightsaber is on or not.
It makes complete sense for the Luke's Lightsabers to be paired with the AT-AT and Jabba's Sail Barge so I'd have no problem with what they're doing if it wasn't for including Yoda's Lightsaber with the Mos Eisley Cantina. I don't think we've even ever seen Yoda on Tatooine.
I agree with your scaling comment, however if anything the ANH/ESB hilt is too small in its scale. Especially when looking at reference photos like you did
What I am guessing the reason for adding the (Return of the Jedi) is due to how their system works. You probably won't be able to have 2 sets with the exact same name
Just not true there have been plenty of sets with the same set name. I think Slave 1, Millennium Falcon, & AT-AT for sure. Definitely more but you get the point :)
I think the promo for Jango's Slave 1 would be a great place to give us a new Zam Wessell (assuming she's not with the actual set). Let's say her speeder and her for the promo set.
I think the reason is easy to understand: OT sets are the only Star Wars sets that still sell well overall. Because it's the only trilogy of films that's liked by all generations. The older generations still don't like the Prequels. And they're still a big portion of the market that actually still buys Star Wars merch. So since LEGO wants to create FOMO with these promos, they need to attach them to sets that they know will be far more popular. The Venator doesn't sell as well because it's a Prequels set (and, to make things worse, they based it on the cartoons instead of Episode III, which shrunk the potential market for it further). And the Razor Crest sells even worse because it's Disney-Star Wars and all Disney-Star Wars is a commercial flop.
@@bu3008 lil bro, Revenge of the Sith is a awesome movie, but it's probably carrying the prequels tbh, The Force Awakens could be better than the phantom menace but idk
A couple of months ago, I went onto the online store and purchased each piece individually for the 2021 luke skywalker lightsaber and the inly thing missing was the name plate (which im not too concerned with), cost approx. €42 including shipping which is a lot cheaper than the €200 + prices I've seen online
Lego should have been making life-sized lightsaber hilts for years now. It would be better than the small helmets imo. Just give us lightsaber hilts on the shelves every year. There are so many they could make.
This is totally nitpicky, but I wouldn‘t call the kyber chrystal an easter egg. It‘s an obvious and normal addition. I think easter eggs are more out of the line, like the nes set having a level of the mario game hidden inside. Yes the kyber chrystal is also hidden, but it belongs right there
I hear you on being upset with the little (RETURN OF THE JEDI) text added onto the tile, but I absolutely think I would be seeing people complain that reusing the same tile from the last one would be "cheap" This would have never been an "issue" if they just referred to the last one as Anakin's lightsaber, barring any slight visual changes, it's HIS.
Dude, aside from the printed plaque piece, the saber (like the saber GWPs before it) is made up of 10-12 dollars worth of easily available parts! I built my own version of this based on the photos that were released a week or so ago of this set! 🤷
My theory for the gwp disparity is they think original trilogy fans need the extra incentive because they would be typically older and maybe have a family to provide for. We prequel fans are around 20-30 so we have more disposable income so they don't have to try as hard to get it cause we will literally buy anything... Obviously there are people beyond those ages or under those ages with and without families but demographics focus on majorities.
Surely the *great* minds at disney can think of an alternative that wouldn't thematically clash with the sail barge. And not be a 3rd version of an existing set, in grey.
I've never understood why the Star Wars promos are set specific - I have every Harry Potter promo but haven't gotten the last three sets they released with. They always let me get the smaller ones and still qualify.
I really like these lightsaber sets. I missed the Luke one with the AT-AT and that was my favorite. If I got this return of the jedi one, then I'd want to go back and get the other one too. That would cost me over $650. Yeah I think I'm just gonna have to miss out on this one as well. Sucks, I definitely would have liked to have one
7:00 The name plac thing is probably lego's way to make sure this set has something exclusive because other wise the only cool thing for some people would the box since everything else you can buy for cheap
Even if they did make them available to buy separately, I'm 99% sure that the placeholder price wouldn't be the price charged as RRP, maybe double / triple it.
Now correct me if I’m wrong, but wouldn’t it have made more sense if they had released Luke’s blue lightsaber (Anakin’s) with the Mos Eisley Cantina a few years ago? Going with the whole A New Hope theme. Then for the AT-AT, do Yoda’s lightsaber, since it coincides with Empire Strikes Back. I think them including Luke’s green lightsaber with the Sail Barge is a great pick though. It ties all three of those sets and their respective GWPs together very nicely. Only gripe is like what you said: for the prequel sets, like the UCS Venator, why not give us something like Obi Wan’s lightsaber or Count Dooku? Would be really cool to see. Edit: Well, I can see how the blue lightsaber ties well with the AT-AT, since it’s even more prominently used in the movie, both when Luke cuts into the belly of the AT-AT, and obviously when he fights Vader at the end of the movie. I guess I was just thinkin Yoda’s lightsaber for the AT-AT set, because that’s the first movie we are introduced to him. And then Luke’s blue lightsaber for the Cantina because that’s its first appearance in that movie, and ultimately what kind of prompted him down his path/journey starting in A New Hope.
This is definitely the best one so far and I love the detail on it but there’s no way I’m spending 500 dollars for almost 4000 pieces and an extra 80 for the desert skiff and sarlac pit
LEGO added the ROTJ print on the plaque to keep the set exclusive is my guess. It's a shame, otherwise you could build this lightsaber with existing bricks and use that old lightsaber plaque.
I like your review but you’re wrong with Return of the Jedi on the tag - there are about 5 different Luke Skywalker lightsabers of that particular hilt - and therefore that remake is correct and important from a fan base position. Also provides options for future versions and other depictions.
Personally, I think we should be able to purchase them as separate sets for a fair price. I know this is a crazy concept, but I refuse to fork up an exponential amount of money on a larger set or buy it on the secondary market (getting ripped off) to acquire this. 🤷♂️
While I understand your reasoning for not liking the plaque, I think you need to remember that the plaque is mostly for you to show it to either non Star Wars friends, or newer/younger fans that may not know as much about the series. Otherwise why even have the plaque? If you are a big Star Wars fan you already know what it is, so why have the plaque? If that plaque didn't have (Return of The Jedi) on it then people that wouldn't know any better would look at the two lightsabers and say why are these labeled the same, but look completely different? But I am also in the camp of they should not have called the last lightsaber Luke's, seeing as it was built by his father.
Outside of just selling them for $20 (which they may not be contractually allowed to do), do you think a $250 threshold each October 1 would be fair?
Hi
No i dont
Nice video
Luke’s Lightsaber microfighter when?
Bring it down to $200 and I’d be happy
The Dark Saber not going with UCS Razor Crest is such a missed opportunity.
That’s exactly what I was thinking
I also thought the venator could have had a anakins or count dookus lightsaber
It's lego, they're full of missed opportunities
Honestly, offering light sabers as a dedicated line would make SO MUCH SENSE. It would be an awesome collection to have.
I'd much rather that then some of the helmets
Well I don’t think that much people would want to build a cylinder
Legos not that smart.
In the meantime, we have brickvault. They have excellent custom Lego lightsabers, and like 50+ designs.
@@WWE_trainsandmore Yeah I don't like the helmets. They just look off to me.
For the UCS razor crest they could have included the dark saber hilt as a promo, and in the UCS venator they could have put mace windu’s lightsaber as a promo

You know, seeing you hold both Luke’s and Anakin’s lightsabers in your hands, the Anakin actually looks really small and the Luke ROTJ hilt looks way more accurate to the size of the actual prop.
That's definitely the case, Anakin's was scaled to proportionately match the main body diameter while Luke's was scaled to fit 2 adult hands.

This upload streak is amazing. That’s some dedication. Great videos man
Always first! I love your hustle and work ethic!!

That’s why I’m here! W
The bias on the promos is pretty remarkable. A patch versus a lightsaber. Come on Lego, surprise us with a Dexter’s diner with Jango UCS.
It's so crazy right lmao
I bet $3 it’s going to be a Jango Fett patch. Because what fan wouldn’t want that?
Patch?
Star Wars already has more sets and promos per year than almost any other theme. Heaven forbid an expensive set come out without an exclusive GWP!!!
I think they pnly makes lightsabers from the original trilogie. Thats why they named anakin's also luke's
Pretty cool set
Lightsabers only come with original trilogy UCS sets because they are an elegant weapon for a more civilised age.
It'll be Asad miss being I won't be able to buy at the release time n I'm sure will sell out. Thanks for the hard work.
Missed opertunity, Lego could have made darksaber for Razercrest, Mace Windu's saber for venator.

I think the ep 3,4,5,7,8 skywalker lightsaber is the coolest in star wars, but this is probably my second favorite

Getting Dooku's with Jango's UCS Slave One next year would be cool
