@@LifeJourneyfulthey didn’t move into their own place until like 2 years ago. Half was at Josh’s aprt and then a whole year or so in this apartment BUT THEY HAD PLANS TO BE ENGAGED/MARRIED soon within living together so noooo they weren’t shacked up for years. You make it sound like it was 5 years of just living together with no plans like some folks. 🥱🥱

Since the last time y'all uploaded, I've gotten into a relationship myself. Back then I listened to your guys' advice and was like "that's solid, I'll aim for that when I get in one." Now that I'm in a relationship, I can relate more/have more of an idea of what you guys actually mean. It's nice being reminded of how to continue having a healthy relationship and things to watch out for 😌

Hi Isi and Josh. I thought this would be the perfect time to apologize to both of you for a very rude comment I made years ago on the topic of colorism. I am a subscriber and really like your content. You are a beautiful couple.... happy to see both of you still together.

Just have to say, absolutely here for the scriptural and Godly references! Toxicity within Christian relationships is often overlooked when in fact, it's a common trend. We feel inclined to love through it, be patient etc until those red flags become pink. We're not called to that, so tips on discernment would be appreciated :) #Part2

That equally yoked bro! This is the 3rd time I heard about this regarding the relationship, once with my friend from school during a conversation in their car, and another during a conversation with my friends in class during a podcast project we did, and now this! Dang! That just goes to show how much more I needed to pay attention to her actions vs words and not try to justify her actions for her

  • @ShaySunshyne
    @ShaySunshyne ปีที่แล้ว +13

You guys just put into words something that I’ve actually been struggling with in a friendship. These apply & now I feel more confident in my choices!

I love y'all no matter where you post! I enjoy the energy! I felt like y'all were talking to me. I recently got out of a 7 year relationship that I was unhappy in. People questioned why I left if he wasn't beating me or cheating. I felt we were unequally yoked on multiple levels. I felt I wasn't getting what I needed overall and i was defintely feeling like "a broken record". Thanks for the honesty in this video, I feel affirmed. Another Qualitty video!!❤

You know, I've finally gotten to a point where I can look at what I see as my flaws (recognize what my flaws really are and what my strengths are as well). Now that my 30s are around the corner, I feel that grown woman maturity is coming, and I'm excited. I have a lot to work on, but I'm making progress, and I will get there.

My gosh I wish I could "like" this video a 1000x over because nothing but facts were spoken in this video. I'm one of your younger viewers and am hopefully about to enter a relationship myself. However, there are things that you guys touched on that I feel I should definitely communicate to my future partner (and looking in the mirror at myself of course). Thank you so much for such an insightful video! Definitely would LOVE a #part2. Glad you guys are back! You were dearly missed!

I know that my comment below was more about dating, but my point is also to notice when you first meet someone, and you're getting to know them, and they can't even be consistent or mindful. be aware of the signs, before feelings get in the way and you feel it will be harder to let go and you find yourself dealing with scenarios and situations, that will cause toxic relationships in the future.

#part2. Dang didn’t know y’all would be hitting the ground running in this channel. Very pleasantly surprised to see a vid up this morning!!! Qualitty information as always!!! Communication truly is key and sorting through your emotions and intentions before trying to communicate as well bc even if you soften your tone and words, if you’re coming still simmering on the inside or with the intention of convincing or bending them to your will, they can sense that and still become defensive. And no; ive never seen a screaming match end well😅

    1. 1:21 No Peace
    2. 2:47 Lack of Accountability, being brutally honest with yourself and what your possible toxic traits and flaws are. If your partner doesn't EVER acknowledge anything THEY'VE done wrong, or if they never apologize. Must acknowledge, sincerely apologize and have genuine forgiveness.
    3. 4:54 Invalidation of Feelings, regardless of whether you understand why, whether they're outlandish feelings or not, acknowledge them.
Grace and empathy are pillars of a relationship.
    4. 6:49 Lack of Growth, individually and as a couple, if you see a deterioration or regression in yourself and the relationship is depleting you/your light is dying. Your relationship is like a garden, you have to nourish it. Someone who doesn't share the same morals, beliefs and ambition
    5. 6:49 Unequally Yoked, being aligned on beliefs/what you both want in the relationship and in the future. You don't have to be in the same spot but you do need to be on the same page and going in the same direction. Finances, kids, your future, what kind of house you want. Toxic mindset: ignoring the signs it won't work and just relying on hope it will work out. Especially being aligned on beliefs. Being aligned on wants and expectations --don't ever tell yourself it'll change or work out, need to be aligned now.
    6. 12:08 Uncompromising, people always change, have to be willing to do that and work with that, growth and change and compromise is part of the game. People get really defensive, when they come to you and say I think you could do better with ___ AT LEAST consider what they're saying. You have to be open minded. Relationships are built on strings of sacrifice. People want to be right so bad instead of listening to understand. You have to let the ego and pride die, this is your LIFE partner. You need peace. People look at changing a toxic trait as changing a part of them, but NO you're improving yourself, your changing a TOXIC trait. Relationships are a team sport.
    7. 17:01 No Trust, either you have to look at yourself and ask if you're insecure or if there are signs and symptoms that you shouldn't trust this person. If you can't trust them/the things they say, what are you doing? There HAS to be trust, you have to be confident in them doing right by the relationship. Actions are what you need to base things off of. The actions have to MATCH. It has to add up. Words + Actions = Trust, if you say something and you do it vs. Not.
    8. 20:29 Lack of Effort, crucial, not compromising, not prioritizing, not feeling prioritized, etc. It's just a sign --this can possibly be corrected with communication. CONSISTENT effort. Don't need you to do fancy extravagant things, just need to know you care. Sometimes people show their love in different ways, don't love them the way YOU want to be loved, love them the way THEY want to be loved. If you've communicated this and have said it over and over, and they don't correct it, don't threaten, but just be honest, don't settle or lower your expectations. Also a good way to gauge how serious your partner is/how they really feel about you.
    9. 20:29 Unhealthy Communication, of grievances, of lack of effort, emotions, you need to be able to hear/listen better than you're able to talk. Even in points of frustration, no name calling, cussing, yelling, or even raising your voice. Sometimes it is good to walk away and gather your feelings.
(20:29 good way to say it)
You can't take back disrespect, boundary crossing, belittling statement. Not just communicating when things are bad, but also when things are good, reinforce the good, don't and they know that you appreciate them, SAY it. When they do something great, talk about it. You wanna be seen the most with your partner. Put your ego aside for your relationship.
It's us vs. problems not us vs. each other.
If your partner feels like your enemy or adversary that's a toxic sign too
And having a trust word for serious conversations, example: Miami.
All these points individually are not signs you need to leave but if a lot of it is adding up, it may be toxic.
Don't look at words, look at actions. He says he wants to do better, or she says she loves me still --don't just look at the words.
