This really spoke to me because I am starting a new leadership role next week and there are a number of internal canditates in the organisation that were not given the role and being an external candidate I feel I may have my hands full with the "historicals". would be nice to have a video on how a new leader can manage a new team in a new organisation with their owm old ways where you have been hired to make changes

Makeda, you're a very self-aware and composed individual.
Not once did I doubt anything that you had a to say because I truly felt that you believe in everything you say and that in itself is a great quality to have as a manager.
    Cheers

This is awesome information for new and seasoned mangers alike. A new leader needs to understand that they are now the person the team turns to for help and they are the one the team looks up to so always be open and honest with your team. Trust is important and without it, you and your team will fail. Another good thing to know, is that if you make a meeting with a team member and if you must push back the meeting, only do it once. If you do it again or multiple times to the same person, they will think that they are not important to you, that you don’t care, and they won’t open up in your 1:1 meetings. Stay focused and take notes.

@@makeda.andrews you are welcome, your videos, digital elements and backgrounds are always new and inspirational ! just like the content keeps it interesting. One favour / steer if I may ask, if you have the time ( I know you are super busy) do you have any video content for managers leading teams across a large ( global ) remit? ...challenges and tips for a multicultural/ time zone challenged large team and the challenges of communicating the same strategy and message poses ? Greatly appreciated , thank you Mak

@@marcocorrado8005 Just seeing this now. Sometimes TH-cam doesn't flag me when a response is left on a response. My apologies. I don't actually have any content on this on TH-cam. But I do know it's an issue. I have a client in NMA that is dealing with the same challenges. He has a development team in India and in Columbia so the challenges are real! The one thing I will say is that when dealing with teams remotely - it's going to be even more important for you to build relationships and to make your team feel seen. It's so easy to feel unseen and unheard in a remote environment so managers who are managing remotely have to make an extra effort to reach out to their team members and invite them into things as much as possible. But when there are cultural differences and time zone challenges as well - even more so! I know that you downloaded the 30-60-90 day guide. I would challenge you to definitely have that initial team meeting following the agenda I provided to you and block off time in your calendar to have those initial 1-1 kick off conversations. Use the time to get to know them as much as possible so that you can start the connection as early as possible. Your relationship Marco with each one is going to be vital to your success moving forward.
