I'm a big fan of your videos. I've always been a aviation enthusiast. Money always seems to be in the way. Grew up next to Chicago's Midway Airport. Lack of money hasn't stopped me, from reading and watching professional pilots in the cockpit. Thank you for taking the time and effort to make these videos. They are very much appreciated. Stay safe. God bless.

Take a drive out to Furnace Springs in Death Valley if it's spring/fall. Cool hiking around there. If not Mt Charleston is closer. Also, take a run up to Rachel and visit the "Little A'le'inn" where all the UFO people show up just outside the gates of Area 51
I am always amazed by that Flower. Swear the GPU was hooked up before the engines even spooled down; and the fuel truck is there as soon as they are. Stayed at that same hotel on a overnight once, tried doing the monorail thing also and it was just a PITA. It was always delayed or would stop short of the station and just sit for a few minutes. That’s when we decided to always get a rental. But yes, that hotel does have a nice workout room.

Beautiful video of flight and cockpit views. It’s been 36 years since I been to Vegas and I can see now where all the water from Lake Mead is going. Thank you for taking us along.
I had to laugh when you tuned around and asked if everyone had there seat belts on. Most of the stuff I flew had a cockpit door and it was usually always shut. That’s why they invented the seat belt light switch. LOL. I too usually stayed on one time zone. That wasn’t always possible, like when we flew from London, Stanstead to LAX in one day. No bueno. Ahh, my work outs are now, taking out the garbage and mowing the lawn. Guess being retired has some advantages. No need for a first class medical any more.
Thanks for sharing all the time Jim :) Have A Safe Trip :) I have a buddy who use to fly a Lear 45 out of Atlantic in Las Vegas He Now is with the FAA in Denver :)
I've probably written it before, but it bears repeating. Mike has such a comforting tone and pace on the intercom and radio. He would have made an excellent public safety dispatcher (my career, in the early years). Some do not realize it, but a dispatcher's tone and pace can have a great deal to do with what may be happening in the field. A calm, reassuring voice goes an long way to keep everybody safe. Thanks again for a great video.
Tim Vaughan After more than 20 years talking to emergency dispatchers, I agree 100% The tone and pace over the radio, very definitely dictate the mood. I’m sure Mike tires of these references, but I’ve made similar comments. I love watching these two together. It’s a great crew that just works. Great video guys, safe skies !
I lived a couple of houses down the street from Mike from 2004-2013. Mike is a great guy who also has a great family and is just an all around laid back guy. I really miss having him as a neighbor.
Looking nice...We had snow blowing here in Chicago a few hours ago this evening. But it has calmed down for the overnight now as I look outside my apartment window...Well, you fly safe always.
The famous effects of the unexpected affecting schedules. Enjoyed your last stream video but, didn't manage to get one or two questions answered - it was so busy with people attending. One was pure curiosity - how long has Mike been with you Jim? Vegas must be about the longest haul compared to many you do - sort of Eagle, plus a lot! Agree re the time change - often had to do that when flying to UK and back... still a bit uncomfortable sometimes. FBO with piano - amazing! The 'sprawl' around Vegas is incredible these days. Great flight and enjoyable video, thanks..
The dark instrument panel at time 1:09 appears to be different then the energized instrument panel at time 1:11. The back up horizon moves on the panel. What am I seeing?
@@bigd-1-channel514 Las Vegas gets most of its electricity from gas and coal fired generating systems not from Hoover Dam as most people think. Most of the electricity from Hoover dam goes to Arizona and California.
One last point.....I gave up sweets and lowered the amount of meat in my diet. More fruits and vegetables. Well I lost around 35 pounds. I went from 208 to 170. I fell great. You keep doing what your doing, and you will loose weight.
Haha alllllmost had to stop the climb out of Spirit... Mike handled the radios fast enough to juuuuust get that 15 clearance. Heh. Here’s some fun history about Flower Aviation... in the 70s and 80s they used to hire line girls and have them dress in mini-skirts... nobody would ever get away with that particular marketing campaign today, but they had calendars they did photo shoots for and printed, and then sold or gave away, and such. Once in a while you’ll see one hanging in a hangar somewhere in CO or KS. Their “signature” uniforms were phased out in the early 90s, as best I can remember. As you can imagine, this made flying a high wing into KPUB more popular with the young male students than a low wing... hahaha. Fly safe!
Very well done as usual Jim. You certainly have a great attitude about all things in life. Can be so hard to change our ways, but like you say you just have to try sometimes.
At the beginning of the video I was thinking I'd list a lot of alternative airports along the route . . . just in case. I hope you brought back some of the money I left in Las Vegas back in 1975.
@@captmoonbeam You had something worth more: that special feeling of arriving home and putting the plane back in the hanger. Home, a very special place.
Thanks for the look back to Las Vegas Jim!! That was my wife's year 2000 project. Get hitched. I explain it as every Army guy should have a Las Vegas bride :)
Regarding your remarks on desserts and making changes: The best change I ever made was dropping all added sugars and sugar drinks and "foods." An unexpected benefit beyond the loss of the fat layer was a new ability to detect the sweetness in a good bourbon (neat) and even in black coffee. Best wishes.
Excellent video and some good flying Captain Jim. Enjoyed the downtown LV including the monorail and the sights. God bless you and the Mrs. Pastor Dean, Christian Life Church, Kissimmee FL (KISM).
Does the Excel have a seatbelt sign? If not, is yelling back the norm, or do passengers often not watch out for the seatbelt sign? I imagine on takeoff they should normally have them on anyway, but when you've got your own airplane...

Which hotel did you stay in? I love Vegas but coming from England costs a fortune on the airlines then the strip hotels place a resort tax which pushes the price up. I've been 9 times but not been in nearly 10 years so would love to go back. Years ago they never had the resort taxes.
I've stayed in Vegas around 2010 and they had the resort fee they make the prices cheap but stack on 70 dollars worth of fees so that good deal is more of a rip off
