All wondering about the diesel loud sound? I think the MIC is under the hood for this movie tot let us hear how the enige really sounds without the cars naturally isolation.....so some other E220 diesel W212 movies on YT with normal sound: BIG DIFFERENCE.

The engine used in E220 is only in-line 4-cylinder 2.2 litre ? So why is it bi-turbo since in a in-line engine there's obviously only 1 row/bank of cylinders or are you suggesting turbo compounding used here..which seems not likely since this is supposed to be lower end model ? Normally bi-turbo would tend to be expected only from higher end engines like V8 or minimum V6 as in those cases there's 2 rows/banks of cylinders which then makes more sense to deploy 1 turbocharger to each row/bank then you get bi-turbo ?
E200 cdi is a single turbo, 220 and 250 cdi are bi turbo engines with each a small and a bigger turbo for power at both the lower and higher rev range
The concept is one small turbo for low revs while the larger one is spooling up and then takes over for higher revs, that way there is turbo boost all the way from 0 with no lag.

This is only an in-line 4 cylinder engine so not too much should be expected from it.
It's very efficient (at least on paper) noting how far they have advanced over the past few decades from the olden times of say the OM 616 in the 240 D !
Having said that, i'll still prefer they do a modern V8 charged-cooled diesel of 4-litre class...as having gotten used to V8 engines, as far as i'm concerned anything below a V8 is still ultimately not up to the same 'standard' as a V8 !!!!
is E class quieter than Audi a6 or bmw 520d?
Hard to say! Mostly depends on the engine and the car configuration line, I think. Haven't tried the other cars you mentions, so I can't really compare it.

Goodfella 420 I have pne from 2014, its absolutely quiet, this video is dramatically loud and incorrect.
Thats right. Mine too is very quiet. This cideo microphone is ultra sensitive.

+Dave Well Does sound somewhat like in a Renault Kangoo ?? But i believe they have some joint-venture development going on with Renault..don't know if Renault has a 2.2 diesel but i suspect in the M-B Citan they use a smaller cc Renault engine ?
Bullshit. 2.2. liter, twin-turbo OM651 is a true MB engine. Rugged, noisy and bulletproof. Only A, B and C classes use Renault diesels in SOME versions - A and B use the 1.5dci, C uses the 1.6dci - but this is only for weak versions... in higher-spec engines A,B and C all use OM651 just like this E class.
