    I am from Pennsylvania and I was blown away by the cost of water. I live in the Brookshire Fulshear area in a new home and I pay $3200 a year mud tax and approximately $80 a month for water. In the Pittsburgh suburbs I was paying about $60 a month total. Total taxes for my $300,000 home including the mud tax comes up to around $7200 per year. Not to mention car insurance is expensive. I had two cars in Pittsburgh and was paying less than I’m paying for one car here. Also insurance for flood and home is a lot more. I do love the area however it is more expensive than what I was paying up north.

    I live about just 47 mins 48 miles away from Katy. Me and my family love coming here because of the amazing variety of restaurants and the closest mall and amazing Movie Theater. Yeah the traffic but, know GPS can take you fastest and less crowded route...take it! Allow enough time to get to your destination of course.

      I prefer not having to compensate an extra 30 minutes just bc the idiots around me can’t drive

    I’m definitely in relocating to Katy, and it’s weird because this came out of nowhere. I’ve only to Houston and The Woodlands. Thank you for the helpful information.

    Also please have a car!!! If u plan on moving this way I stay with my mom and it sucks!! Trying to get around Katy is literally an Island with no bus routes I think it’s stupid that they keep building apts and houses and won’t consider a bus route for people who aren’t fortunate of having a car

    which areas in katy have less flooding?

    • @livinginhoustontexas18
      @livinginhoustontexas18  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So really I would say the master planned communities are going to give you the best chances because (in theory) they are designed to not flood. But I always like to check with insurance agents on flood zones because that is their area of expertise.

    The entire Katy "metro" area (i.e. the Katy zip codes, not just City of Katy) is something on the order of 1 million. We lived in Katy from 1988 to 2017, and by the time we left the traffic was unbearable.
    South of the freeeway between Barker Cypress and 99 things are really beautiful - nice, well-maintained homes and esplanades, plenty of shopping and restaurants. But the main thoroughfares are clogged up even on weekends.
    The humidity is unbearable, even late into the evening, and even deep into October - be prepared to live indoors.
    It's a long trek through traffic to any major entertainment venue.
    All in all, loved it while it lasted, but happy to be gone and wouldn't go back.

    Traffic is truely horrid!!! Never seen the like. And EXACTLY what he mentions that the drivers are not paying attention when sitting at red lights. When the light turns green GO!!!! don't just sit there. Also the lights need to be timed better so that left hand turn lanes get more than 3 cars through on a green and do not block the two through lanes. I moved here from Calif and I have to use my horn nearly every time I get on the road because drivers are NOT PAYING ATTENTION. The freeways are great, but they do not get you where you need to go, therefore everyone is on the surface streets.
