      @@clogwog It's common in most Dutch shows. World stars are seen as normal people, but with a nice career and a good story. This typical Dutch approach and their directness and openness apparently has that effect that prominent stars are feeling quite ZEN when around the Dutch.

      They were aware of that for 40, 50 years at this point and knew the dark side of fame all too well. Much better to stay grounded and Watts was a rare example of someone who was able to do that, although he too knew a dark period.

    • @onusgumboot5565
      @onusgumboot5565 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      did wyman play on this song? they used to take his parts off and have someone else do the bass parts. That was one of his complaints about the stones for a long time. keith played bass on sympathy for the devil for instance. Not saying it isn't him this time, just sayin you never really know with the stones

    • @BillMcGirr
      @BillMcGirr 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think Ronnie plays bass on this song.
      I could be wrong... but I believe it was just Ronnie, Charlie and Mick in the studio laying the basic track.
      And everything else was piled on later.🤷‍♂️💪👍

    • @gpc31
      @gpc31 5 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      @@BillMcGirr Wyman played bass on the song. He got part of the riff from Billy Preston. Woods played bass on Emotional Rescue and Shattered. Woods is a great bass player (going back to his Jeff Beck days), but there's nothing like Wyman and Watts. When Keef plays the bass, the riff is up front and knocks you out. When Woods sits in (or before him, Taylor), you think "wow, that's a virtuoso line." When Wyman plays, you can't help but move, even if you don't notice the bass. If you listen closely, the guy improvises, ghosts, and does sly and unexpected things to support the song. He was great.

    • @daveg4236
      @daveg4236 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Wyman struggled to get that bass line. Took him a while to find something that worked. The bass drives this song. Without it...not a hit

    Always loved the Rolling Stones, and looking back at their very long career you can see why they've lasted throughout each era. They just knew how to adapt modern music and collaborate with each other. They didn't end up being stuck in a certain era of their own past and only playing hits from their youth.

  • @jppagetoo

    The Stones had been a bit of a joke for a few years in the late 70's. Some Girls changed everything. In late '78 and all of '79 they were huge. Miss You, Beast of Burden, and Shattered were everywhere on the radio. Even some of the deep cuts got airplay, When the Whip comes Down and Just My Imagination. Some Girls is still an album I listen to. Good stuff.

      They started to be serious when Mick Taylor join them. They liked to play around but Taylor wanted the job done and get off, that's why he never fit in the band. To him was never fun but only work.

      @dondamon4669 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Fabio Sbacco that’s simply not true. Where have you read that mick Taylor joined and said “cmon now Jagger and Keith none of your messing round I wanna get the job done I’ve got things to do so get writing boys” 😂!.. Taylor had nothing to do with how the stones were run he just contributed cool lead guitar parts as he was the best lead guitarist they had but he was not the songwriter ,arranger or manager of the band as you suggested.... I swear people like you just make things up

      Mick Taylor did contribute in the majority of songs written around Keith riffs and created at least three songs which never been credited for. In an interview he did mention what I just said. He left and he made a mistake but he did it for his own health. I was not there and so weren't you I believe, so don't say that I make things up please. Taylor wanted to work when was time to work and have fun when they were off. He was on wages, but he didnt belong to the band as property. That's all.
