Love my One. So versatile and just STUNNING. It takes about 6 months to really get the best out of it but once you’re comfortable with it, it’s highly addictive!
Ibought one in February and have not had one single issue. I love it. I also bought a Matriarch at the same time. Both are my first high end analog synths. I've only had things like my Novation Bass Station 2 and workstations like my Yamaha Montage, along with other workstations in the past. As well ended up working completely in the box for almost 10 years... Now I only work with outboard gear and synths, but track everything into my daw. Music feels so much more alive again. Sadly I didnt have the money to do that back in my late teens and early 20's (2005 and so on). I will never sell my Moogs. I'm planning on getting a Muse soon, as soon as they fix all the bugs. I suck at creating my own patches/sounds, but am perfectly fine with buying other people's sounds and tweaking them. Scott McCauley is a great creator. Some others are too. Some people who sell their patches are not so great. I've even bought the latest Native Instruments Komplete bundle and pretty much never use it anymore lol. My Moogs, Akai Force, Roland SP-404 MKII, Bass Station 2 and Yamaha Montage, along-with outboard gear and great mics are all I need. LOL
I own the Moog One with 16 voices and it is absolutely phenomenal. This is an instant classic. There are really not many issues in the firmware so I would not worry about that. It is light-years ahead of most other synths. If it were possible, I would say. that Poly AT response is missing but I have tracked with Mono-AT to the DAW to get the Poly-AT so again, it is workable through that although a bit of a hassle but then you get that Moog One sound which is simply divine. Like anything, you have to work with the instrument and really get into it and use it. This synth is way ahead of the most recent Moog Muse and when you multi-track its voices it is sheer magic.
The Moog One is capable of a lot of sounds... a lot of presets really go overboard on the fx and so you don't hear the character at all. For that reason I am more into something like a Prophet 5 or OBX8.... still I agree the Moog still sounds nice. I did a session at a local studio with a Moog One a few years back but ended up using the Prophet as it really fit the 80s vibe the singer was going for.
Worth every penny. I got my 16 voice used about a year ago. No issues. I keep it clean and under a dust cover all the time. This synth will die with me. The only thing I wish it had was drive\distortion into the filters.
I had a happy accident that led to a realization last week. If you are using a saw oscillator and you blend in just the right amount of square, it comes out sounding like drive. If you think about it, drive is just emphasizing certain harmonics in the signal and if you take what would otherwise be a clean saw and add a bit of square to it, then you are emphasizing all the odd harmonics. I have a killer bass sound where I did just this and it sounds great.
I just got my own 16 voice on Halloween. It is every bit as amazing as I thought it would be. And like you, I am thoroughly pleased with the effects. A lot of users talked bad about the effects but I am not seeing why. The sounds this unit emits are beyond phenomenal. This is yet another synth I will die with. M1 for life.
It truly is awesome…if Moog were to announce another firmware update to sort out any final issues, this thing would be selling like crazy. Yes it’s expensive but so is any world class, high end item.
Both are True, they decided not to iron out last bugs, probably wanted to payout and fired the programmers as is now not the same Moog Company as it was when they made the Moog One, sadly. In my book is a great synth, but unfinished. I hope the Fuse doesn’t suffer the same fate.
@@MeAlexSenna It’s not discontinued I have mine 3 years and doesn’t have big bugs like you mentioned…may be it’s with your unit…For me it’s the best synh I ever owned…
Sweetwater has more new stock coming in December, though I have seen official announcements it is discontinued (Moog support page July 2024). Moog has often been contradictory about stuff like this (e.g. the Black Matriarch). Most the bugs where fixed a long time ago. The Moog One with Firmware v1.5 is no more or less buggy than any other complex synth I own. Sadly it is the way of niche markets like synthesizers. It detracts little from my joy of owning one. There is nothing else like it.
It's a synth that reveals its treasure slowly. But when it does, it can be an exquisite flight over the highest mountains or raw and punchy growl. But it takes time to craft a sound. Its not a synth to slap on a preset pack and then its done.
Sounds like a flagship hybrid, to be honest Marginally better, at times (most noticeably in the bass) The FX don’t sound great to me either I would be PI$$ED if I’d bought one of these new
It's awesome, but it's $10K. For that price you could polychain two OB-X8 modules to an Osmose, and then you'd have a 16-voice MPE monster. And you'd still have $1,200 left to get a BigSky MX and a Zen Delay. Not that I care much about MPE. And I assume the Moog would hold its value better? It just doesn't excite me much. I'm not a fan of the big knob that isn't the filter. Everybody knows the big knob is supposed to be the filter! Look at the Sub 37! Even my little Minitaur has a slightly-bigger filter knob! 😂
GREAT point of view. I have in the past unloaded some "mega" synths to take the cash and buy like 10 awesome things with the funds. I have NOT gotten to that phase on this Moog One though. every time I play it, it keeps me anchored to it.
Exactly! While the Moog One itself as well as it's features are very impressive to look at, I was simply not impressed by the raw sound of it versus it's price tag, especially after playing a Prophet 5/10 and an Oberheim OB-X8, both of which can be had together for less money. Sure, the Moog One really does sound good, and it should. However, I still don't think it sounds like a "$10,000" synthesizer. Also, the last thing I would want to do is fork a ton of money like that into "one" synthesizer and then something goes horribly wrong with it at some point after becoming totally dependent on it.
A sound-designer’s dream. Also the best-looking synth on the market. Begs to be played.
Love my One. So versatile and just STUNNING. It takes about 6 months to really get the best out of it but once you’re comfortable with it, it’s highly addictive!
So true. I can create classic analog pads, basses, leads and go into Event Horizon territory pretty quick.

Congrats on using more external devices. I personally feel it's THE way to go.
We who own a Moog One (16 voice), know...I am so glad I took the leap and invested in an instrument I will use forever.
Agreed! It's a marvelous synth.. expensive indeed, but worth it!
How is that tuning been holding up?

Yes.. mine has had zero issues.. latest upgrade in it.. it is solid. I also agree that its the most advanced synth moog has made.

That WOULD be killer! Modal made the 008 which is another amazing "Ahead of its time" synth.. there was a great DRIVE thingy that was awesome.

@@jamespingel8730 Thank you! Awesome. I will give it a try.
@@jamespingel8730 Bass on the Moog one is massive. Over all the Moog One doesnt sound like any synth I have played.

I always thought Eventide was the best! I wouldnt complain! Congrats!! I hope you have many joyous years with that beautiful beast.
PERFECT synth for a Halloween evening jam!
What happened here? Did Zach step into a time machine, age 10-20 years and change his name to his favorite synth company?

fww, the last OS is very stable
Love my moog one 16 voice
Isnt it bug ridden and discontinued?!
No and no

It also takes quite some money😄
I so agree with this. there are many catacombs and corridors in this synth.
way to cheesy sounding for my liking and the price of its a joke

Check out Last Known Species, 95% of the synths are from the One! You’ll get a real idea of how it sounds In synth pop music
