    I LOVE LOVE this man! His music is timeless and I listen to it all the time! Especially his 70s albums. I feel like he really was able to express himself in those albums. You have to understand he was EXTREMELY DEPRESSED and he didn’t like being on stage or interviews because he was very shy. That’s why you don’t see many interviews.He really loved to make music and that’s it. He was NEVER the same after Tammi Terrell. That was his TRUE love. RIP to a man who I wished I would of met! Marvin Gaye ❤❤❤

      He wasn't IN love with Tammi, and she was not IN love with him. They loved each other as friends, or even like brother and sister. That was their bond. He said so in Divided Soul and in an interview. Their relationship wasn't like that.

    • @Riaalwayspretty
      @Riaalwayspretty ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SimplyBeingTT ACTUALLY he was. He publicly would not admit it because of the circumstances. That was a known fact. THANKS!

    • @SimplyBeingTT
      @SimplyBeingTT ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Riaalwayspretty No. How is something a known "fact" when he not only denied it, he actually broke it down and explained their relationship, and so have others? Tammi was engaged to a doctor when she passed away. During their duet days she was with David Ruffin, and he was married to Anna and dealing with his marriage. Anna felt a way about his and Tammi's relationship, but she felt that way about all his duet partners because he was much younger than her.
      I've read just about every book, and have seen most documentaries on Marvin Gaye. He loved Tammi very much and her death added to his psychological distress brought on by his childhood. Marvin stated that Tammy was a beautiful, nice lady that was misunderstood. He was very hurt and probably never fully recovered from her death, but he was not IN love with her. There are different layers of love that don't always equate to romance. A handsome man and a beautiful woman can have platonic love and great chemistry. Marvin and Tammi are an example of that.
      He actually did have a woman he loved most. I would suggest reading Divided Soul by David Ritz if you haven't already.

      @@SimplyBeingTT I know the History of the TWO. I don’t need a detailed paragraph of you trying to explain to me on how what I stated was wrong. What I said was the truth and it’s factual. You have a good day. God Bless ❤️

      @@Riaalwayspretty Evidently you do. The sky is sometimes blue (Fact), you trying to live vicariously through Tammi (My opinion). I get it, but that ain't it. God Bless you too. 😘

    I was born & raised in Detroit, Michigan. When I was 13 years of age, after hearing Marvin Gaye's music I had to meet him! (I had every album he ever made!) I did not know what a “Concert” was, but I snuck out the house, willing to bear the consequences of "getting in trouble" with my very strict Mother. A guy that had a crush on me drove me to Cobo Hall, and somehow I made it to the front row! Marvin Gaye reached out to me, held my hand and sang a part of "Distant Lover" to me...I will forever cherish those moments! There will never be another Marvin Gaye! My apologies to my Dear Mother because as a teen I must have played my Distant Lover LP one million times. Peace

    He looks so tired here, too many took him for granted, too many used him, including his family. He looks emotionally battered and he is correct, it is better to retreat, regroup for ones physical, psychological and spiritual wellbeing. Even after his father murdered him and got away with it, the family vultures ate off his sad unnecessary killing.

      No one truly knows what he felt inside. Crazy ass cross dressing father (not bad), who beat the crap out of him. Mother didn’t protect him. I got rid of my ex when my baby girls were little. He drank and did drugs. I don’t. Tried to help him. Didn’t work. My girls were 5 and 2 when I threw him out. Never remarried....dated some...but had a job...was busy raising girls.
      I’m not knocking Marvin’s mom...but she should have got rid of that husband. Pastor? What paster beats his kids?
      Marvin Gaye needed love...compassion...nurturing...like we all do.
      Love Marvin Gaye. Always have. Always will. RIP Marvin. You are loved and you are missed.💫💖😢

      @@christinagraham2915 he wanted to but his mother was ill with at the time was thought to have been kidney failure when in fact she had bone cancer that eventually killed her in 1987. To add to the mix Marvin missed his kids and had a #1 album and he was the hot ticket again … his fan base and popularity was back at an all time high … too much pressure to deal with hence he came back to America when in fact, he may be alive or lived longer had he stayed in Belgium. Honestly I think by his mother dying he would’ve not wanted to be here if she wasn’t with him… that’s how close they were.

    He didn’t have a masculine voice. His story seems so horrible with his father being a cross dresser wearing his wife’s clothes. I wonder if he ever touched his kids sexually. He just seems feminine. The mother chose that abusive husband over her kids. This lady sent her 1st child away because her husband Marvin Sr. didn’t believe in taking care of another man’s child. She didn’t divorce him after they or after he started cross dressing. What else did she turn her cheek on? She even bailed out her husband after killing Marvin.

      After I read, "Marvin Gaye, My Brother" by his late younger Frankie Gaye...I read that he stated that Marvin Gaye when they were kids, told him that their paternal uncle raped Marvin. Marvin told his dad, just to be told by his own father that he was lying. Marvin likely told Jan Gaye about it, but she didn't state that in her book, "After the Dance 'My Life with Marvin Gaye.'" Marvin never told anyone else about it for the rest of his life. I feel like repressing that kind of trauma led him to his own self destructive behavior. I just wish their mother left their father when they were kids because I feel they would have been better off without him. I'm reading his younger sister Zeola Gaye's book right now, "My Brother, Marvin." Their father was a monster, no matter how hard she tries to humanize their father and his flaws. I feel so bad for the mom and the kids involved...including the son who was half related to them by having the same mother.
