A lewis quote is on the official steam page for the game now and its just attributed to "yogscast." Lewis deserves recognition for his amazing statement of “This is so refreshing, I've played so many games lately that promise this level of tactics that do not have any f***ing tactics”
I very much like how this has a boardgame approach. Both the "overworld" and in-combat. When you have exact hits (even if the damage is variable) it feels like it just enables some critical thought. I want games to make me think and plaaan.
Lewis's surmise at the beginning makes sense. WH40K's lore basically is what you would get if you just took every heavy metal album cover from the '70s and '80s and tried to come up with a single narrative out of which every last one of them could plausibly be an illustration. :) Also, "There is no obstacle beyond my ability to counsel you on" is an absolutely perfect motto for That Guy on the Internet. Magos ACTUALLY over here.
I think it definitely opens up the most room for customization. If it was literally any other faction it'd be hard to explain having 20 different gadgets on your team, but with admech it makes perfect sense that your guys are going to be swapping out their parts constantly. A team of marines would have 4 guys with bolters, a guy with a sword, and a special weapon.
@@ExceedProduction I want to like her more, especially considering her foil, but she's a legitimate monster. It's a sad thing when Videx ends up being the voice of reason
This is one of my favorite channels ever, but I think they need to add more games to the channel's repertoire! Here are the top strategy games / tactics games / tactical games of other genres that I want to see Lewis & Ben play together: 0. All future expansions for X-Com games, Battletech games, and tactical Warhammer games, it goes without saying 1. Imperator: Rome (when it comes out) 2. Victoria III (when it eventually comes out, ages from now) 3. Star Wars: Republic Commando Remastered (if it ever comes out) 4. Dragon Age: Origins 5. Deep Sky Derelicts 6. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (1 and 2!) 7. Sins of a Solar Empire 8. Kaiserreich mod for Hearts of Iron IV 9. Civilization: Beyond Earth (I know it wasn't the best at release, but it's really good now after the Rising Tide expansion!) 10. Europa Universalis IV
I'm really hopeful with this one. The mechanicus is my fav faction in the lore. I've been waiting on them to get this kinda focus in SOMETHING (not including the books because everyone gets a pretty good level of stuff in that.) edit: I also can't wait to get the sound track for this game for other uses.

A youtuber *Aurathas* i think is his name did a mechanicus letsplay and as far as i know didnt skip any dialogue and collected all the troops, equipment, canticals and weapons (if your interested in that).
The weird date at the start translates to "early December, the year 41'001" btw. (Reliability of the date -> year fraction (0-100) -> year -> millenium) Hm... so I guess it's technically Warhammer _41_ K now..?
Really boys, you cheese'd Agrolek? I literally just got him to chase me around. First time I got him. Although on Release, Agrolek continually switch his armor between energy and physical.
Not entirely true. It does have tactics, in fact, possibly the purest tactics. As you go, of course, the enemies you face are increasingly difficult to deal with, and you open up more options for dealing with them. If you consider Tactics to be RNG based, like XCOM, then you're looking at the wrong viewpoint. Tactics is merely making a plan, and executing it, usually in a military operation. Mechanicus' Tactics are pure because you can guarantee many things, rather than replying on a percentage based system.
@@daemondaemonus490 I think he meant that other games promise tactics but have none, compared to Mechanicus which actually has decision making and resource management
Regarding the glitch where it wont let you fire a weapon despite having the exact cogs required to technically fire it: In certain programming languages and with certain commands in those languages, the math will start counting from 0, or sometimes start counting from 1. For example, [ 0, 1, 2 , 3, 4 ] is a list with 5 units in it, so if you have a weapon that costs 4 cogs, the game will count 4 times: [ 0, 1, 2, 3 ] And thus come to the conclusion that the weapon cannot be fired, despite the execution working perfectly fine when it subtracts 4 cogs. But that's just crazy Tzeench logic, not something a tech-priest would tell you.
As an edit: I wasn't providing an example of why the specific error is occurring, I was highlighting some of the weird logic going on in the background. Remembering where the language wants to count from 1, and where it wants to count from 0 is the tricky part. Occasionally a programmer will tell the program to start counting from +1 positions to correct the natural error in places where they did not need to. Just interesting things to think about.
40K Is not entirely masculine, all the Eldar Hierachy is Female and even the Humans have the Sisters of Battle. There is a small representation for the girls. That being said, 40K was never marketed TOWARD females, so Apples and Kumquats...
When you think about it, 40k is pretty balanced in terms of genders. Just a couple of factions are gender-specific, while others are genderless, and the majority make no distinction between them, with awesome characters in all cases and genders.
You know what’s funny? The only reason why the Adeptus Sororitas exist is because after the failed ecclesiarchy coup in the 36th millennium they were forced to sign a treaty that said that they couldn’t employ “men at arms” so naturally they built an all female army in secret and pointed out that error with the wider imperium unable to protest.
We don't talk about the Primarus Marines...like some schmuck can improve on the litteral Emperor's work even given the time-frame. Not the best piece of lore in my opinion :/
Decrona Lore wise, I absolutely agree with you. However they are very nice models that address issues with scale creep that have gotten so bad you can’t just phase out the old models. People have invested too much, and they probably still have a ridiculous backlog of stock. They also play more like marines should, being much more individually capable and expensive.
Some 40k youtubers actually make some pretty convincing arguments as to why they make sense. But I just don't like the fact that they're just better space marines when space marines are already stupid strong. It undermines how badass they are- or I guess were.
Actually no, since changing anything tech or biology-related is seen as tech-heresy. Pretty much all new technology comes from discovered STCs. Cawl only got away with it because he had the blessings of a goddamn Primarch

Yeah, but she died in her Magma City 12 millennia ago.
