    My younger brother went to see this when it came onto the big screen. He told me he was literally shaking when he came out of the cinema that day.
    He said that it was a combination of the powerful film-making coupled with the absolute certainty that there had been foul play involved.
    I watched it on video shortky afterwards and I too, was blown away by it.
    By the way, I am 60 myself now, and the 60th anniversary of the shooting falls tomorrow; I'll be thinking of all the American lives altered and destroyed by this single event so many years ago...

    Can't believe that this was only made 28 years after the actual assassination. It shows the huge cultural gulf between 1963 and 1991 that they had to film this as a period piece, with all the clothes, fashion, and technology of the period. It was only 28 years , but it might as well have been a century before.

      @@jamesanthony5681 I have a hard time believing that one bullet could do that much damage. I know that a .30 caliber bullet was designed to bounce around, but the number of shots vis-a-vis the Zapruder film indicates that Oswald--or someone else--couldn't have fired that quickly. It was physically impossible for him to do so. Add in the fact that numerous witnesses--at least 50--said they heard multiple shots and not echoes coming from different directions leads me to believe that there was more than one shooter. Additionally, the gun allegedly used in the shooting was flawed with a bad gunsight...and Oswald was considered a mediocre shot at best. So, was he acting alone and it was a fluke shot, or was someone else involved? Common sense tells me to follow the latter course.

    • @jessfrankel5212
      @jessfrankel5212 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@jamesanthony5681 There are/were conflicting reports about just how good a shot Oswald was. Some said fair, and some said terrible. Let's assume, though, he was a fair shot. From his vantage point, there was a tree in the way of the motorcade that obscured the view. Add in the faulty gunsight plus the limited view, you either get very lucky OR you're a sniper supreme. That never made sense to me. Additionally, if you're in a hurry to get three shots off, your hands are going to shake a little. They did tests with expert marksmen under the same circumstances...all of them failed. It was an old bolt-action rifle...to get off three shots with perfect precision is hard, to say the least.
      Now, as to the other shots....from what I remember, they came from the knoll as well as the overpass. They may have been diversionary shots; IDK...but the angle of entry from the bullet has always confused me. While Kennedy's head wound was on the right side behind his ear (more or less) as you said, the throat wound and back wounds appeared to be from a different angle, almost head on, which indicates that there were additional shots.
      I may be wrong on this, but something about those wounds never added up, including Connolly's injuries. They were all over the place. This whole thing was and is a smokescreen, but for whom? (Geez, now I sound like a conspiracy nut!).

      The movie is a complete fabrication. The characters in the movie are either composites or real-life people that had nothing to do with Kennedy. The men were totally decent people. Clay Shaw was a war hero and a hardworking businessman who was not effeminate or slimy or creepy at all. He was dignified and sheepish and kind. He was completely defamed by Garrison and again by this movie. Garrison himself looks and sounds like a character from Seinfeld in real life; absolutely nothing like Kevin Costner's salt of the earth everyman. Every major news outlet had reported in the 60s before the trial even happened that Garrison had been bribing and coercing and blackmailing people to fill out his fake case and his bizarre crackpot theory. None of this is in the movie.

World Trade Center should have been far edgier and better and different than it turned out. In his heyday I can imagine him doing Zero Dark Thirty or United 93 instead! He made a watered down Snowden a few years ago and I wonder how good it would have been if it had been made in the 90s! Same goes for W!
