    Another awesome review. Early on in my fishing journey I was addicted to Zman and at last count I have over 30 packets and most I havnt used. I rarely use zman now as I have found other more unique lures and I think that is the key. In high pressure fished areas the lures that are different work well. I feel these will sell well, have a great start then eventually like most fishing spots the fish get used to them. Its fun to try new plastics, I won't be buying them but they look good.

    I still really don't know much about soft plastic fishing, in fact, I find it difficult to know where to start so I found this fascinating. They look just as impressive as ZMan, Berkley and Squidgies. I'm gonna have to go over to Mud Island this late summer and autumn and spend a whole day using plastics and leave the bait at home. And I'm probably more of a Daiwa man than anything else, so I'm gonna have to get some of these to go with the other hundred odd packs of soft plastics which I've never really used. Really enjoying these review videos mate.

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the positive feedback Darren, its much appreciated. A lot of people overthink the usage and complexity of soft plastics. Often its a case of casting then just playing around with retrieval techniques. When you come across a school of fish they will aggressively take a soft plastic as soon as it drops so you dont even get a chance to work it. Nothing beats the strike of a fish on soft plastics or lures and holding the rod when you get a bite.

      @@fishingmad I think I'm guilty of over-thinking it. Had a bit of success down at Point Cook late last year on the Bream and mullet which was great fun! Then moved down here and had the idea of trying lots of land-based spots with em, on days when I had to work or didn't have the time or weather to get the boat out. Then this whole virus thing happened. Will definitely need to get back into em.

    Great presentation and information - WELL DONE. Just as an aside, what is the difference between UV and Non-UV versions? Holey Dooley don't those jerk shads perform. Angler action and working it comes into the equation but I've never seen a subtle action like this before. Looks like I'm back to my local tackle-shop for preparation for mt one month of fresh water fishing road trip. Sincere thanks for taking the time and posting.

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Peter. I have documented which ones are UV and non UV on this weblink fishingmad.com.au/review/daiwa-bait-junkie-review just scroll down to see the individual models. The difference is the UV versions will glow in low light situations. So if you fishing in 10 meters deep at that depth there is often low light the UV versions will glow and stand out. there is no real evidence to suggest UV is better or more effective but they are very popular. Hope that helps

      Thats a really good point. I think its both a positive and a negative. The positive being the swimming action on them is amazing, but the negatvie is there probably not as durable. cant wait to catch a few big snapper on them and get some first hand answers.

    • @fishingmad

      Yes, Ive had a anchor for a while now but havent used it a great deal yet. I will use it this season when targeting snapper, whiting and gummies. Its this one www.bcf.com.au/p/blueline-folding-anchor-3lb/213293.html At this stage I have built a small custom handle pulley system but it needs some work. Hi Alan,I want to get into soft plastics fishing but am a bit insure if I should buy a specific soft plastics rod such as zodias, raider or catana?I already have a yamashita egido and shimano sephia bb squid rod,do you think either of them could double as a soft plastics rod also?

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Shannon, most squid rods are long between 8-10 foot made to cast squid jigs. So they are designed quite differently. Most soft plastics rods are between 6 foot 6 inches and 7 foot 2 inches in 2-4, or 3-5 kilo class depending on what your targeting. There are some great entry level spin rods that wont break the bank that you should consider. It will make a big difference. The ones you mentioned would be perfect based on your budget needs.

    Grab a few packs today and was pleasantly surprised at how much they stink. They are the best of both world in terms of Zman stretch and softness (with a better action), with the scent that attracts fish to Gulp like its a fresh bit of bait . If they hold up like Zman and the scent last, these are going be the market leader in no time. Thanks for the review.
