The X-Men franchise has been running for nearly two decades, and it all culminates with Dark Phoenix, a storyline that the movies already covered in 2006. Once again, Jean Grey goes absolutely bonkers with power, but this time Wolverine isn’t around to stab her. The movie has a pretty awful score on Rotten Tomatoes and definitely raises a lot of questions. Like what’s the deal with the aliens, are they bulletproof or not? Why was Quicksilver dismissed from the movie so quickly? What was up with that Phoenix moment in X-Men Apocalypse? Why do these movies keep jumping forward a decade each time? Is Magneto supposed to be 62 years old, and if so, why is a 42-year-old with no make-up playing him? Why did they show Mystique dying in the trailer?

All jokes aside, the "there's always a speech and nobody cares" line was pure gold.

@@katheli89 The Magneto speeches are for flair while the Xavier speeches that Magneto talked about are not. He talked about the speeches aimed to change peoples minds rooted in the "people are good and should do good for the greater good" philosophy that those close to Xavier sees as hypocrisy.
In my opinion, Magneto was spot on with that remark. We saw that Mystique was tired of Xavier's remarks earlier on, and she wasn't alone.
There are 3 things this movie got right:
1. Recruiting Hans Zimmer for the score.
2. Killing off Mystique
3. Providing quality content for a Pitch Meeting.

Why does FOX have such a hard time doing the Phoenix Saga when a Saturday morning cartoon did it better over 20 years ago?!

This was going to have the Shi’Ar in it back when it was a two-parter that Fox axed in late preproduction.
Facts.
Making a cartoon about fantasy fiction is much easier. If Harry Potter was a cartoon Peeves would've definitely been included, everyone would've worn proper clothes and Voldemort would've looked like Voldemort.

So, that's 10 times over a 6 minute skit that a line comes on at the same time as you are reading the relevant comment.

@@wavingdragon To be fair, someone in the production team surely notices when a script is not good, but if they think the fans will lap it up they procede anyway. Writers don't have a lot of time when a script is commissioned and must ride a fad.

I figured they could regenerate at a certain speed. So small bullets from guns can't kill them but, the big guns like the one from the chopper have enough power to overcome their healing abilities

The Dark Phoenix saga is one of the best comic book stories, an absolute classic and they have failed to portray it on film twice.
But the franchise always rises again like a... like a... Damn, I had it a second ago.
Look at it this way. Imagine if the only X-Men movies there were were First Class, MAAAYYYBE DOFP if it got rewritten a little bit, Apocalypse, and Dark Phoenix, it would work really well.
@@rigatonipasta you gotta include DOFP, it links to the new timeline which interns links the new movies to the old ones. You can't not include DOFP
I mean, it's a saga that relies on a lot of build-up. You might be able to pull it off with an MCU level of build-up for the Infinity Saga, but I just don't think it's very adaptable, especially not by the tools at Fox.
@@DayOldMeat Yeah, I've heard it was supposed to be a trilogy, but Fox got rushed. I could see that working. First film: Space stuff happens and Jean becomes the Phoenix when returning to Earth. Second film: The Hellfire Club, or some equivalent, drives Jean over the edge and in the final scene cliffhanger she becomes the Dark Phoenix. Third film: The Dark Phoenix. They have to deal with her and then the space aliens from the first film show up and want to kill her too.

What always irritated me most is both times they jumped straight to the dark phoenix saga and disreagard the phoenix saga.
Also when Jean was like "my emotions make me strong" I was like no you emotions is what makes you the dark phoenix!

What I don't get is why she was so mad at Charles after that when her dad literally stated that he didn't want her anymore after she accidentally killed her mom. And didn't even want to check in on her after giving her up to Charles as Jean read in his mind. Like, what? Charles did her a favor by taking her in when her dad basically disowned her.

No. The movie was so much fun. As a standalone movie, without continuity, it is great. Tbh if you look at the series as just First Class, Apocalypse, and Dark Phoenix it works really well as a trilogy.

I know that his scenes are funny and this movie is the opposite of that but Quicksilver is the best x-men there
don't worry.about spoiling any scenes or.........apparently not spoiling any scenes. I have zero interest in ever seeing this film. I doubt I'll even buy it on Bluray to complete my collection. It just looks that awful.
His scene in DOFP was absolute genius. "Apocalypse" you had to kinda suspend your reality a tad. "Phoenix"...5 whole seconds?! Words can't describe my contempt for this abomination of a movie. And I went in with an open mind--despite all the nasty reviews.

One of the few things I liked about this movie is that they had some subtle connections to Deadpool 2. The mutant power dampeners were roughly the same design as they were in Deadpool 2. This makes sense given the throwaway cameo of all the younger X-men in Deadpool 2.
